My daughter is a RBS junior associate and got a place on the waitlist for the summer intensive assuming chances of her getting of the waitlist are slim so looking for other possible summer courses she's 10 so she's not older enough for enb or brb courses. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or places to look at? I've seen London vocational ballet school do a course does anyone know anything about them? What are their courses are like? Many thanks

Same here, we did spring and summer at the same time think I may do it separately next time. We got waitlist for both which I'm taking as a positive.

@Ruby Foo what other opportunities would you recommend this is first time applying for the RBS intensives I knew about them because my daughter is a Junior Associate which absolutely loves. She got waitlist for spring and summer, interested to know what else is around not necessarily for this year but next year. Any ballet opportunities she'd love. Thanks.

We got waitlist same for the spring intensive, first time applying, took photos myself with her ballet teachers help for the position. Her JA teacher said that would be best did wonder if professional pictures would be an idea but thought having her teachers input would be more helpful. Does anyone know what chances there are of coming of the waitlist?

First time applying for my daughter she got waiting list. We applied for the summer at the same time, now wondering if I should have waited and redone pictures found it hard taking them not sure I did her justice, if she didn't get the sprint does that mean she won't get the summer either. Does anyone know how many children they take? She's a year 5 JA so first time she's been old enough to apply for them. Good luck to all your dancers.

Thank you for all responses I have read them and really appreciate the replies. It does seem interesting that there is such a difference in some marking, and doesn't appear to be any consistency with marking especially with video v in person examiners. My daughter is still feeling disappointed in her marks but starting to feel proud of herself as she still sees that it is a good mark. I am curious about the detailed report I didn't know you could do this, does her ballet school need to do it or could I request one. @drdance thank you for mentioning it I didn't know it was a thing I realise it does seem a bit extreme for a grade 3 exam when she got such a good mark but now she's got the brake down of her marks she needs more information what she did well, what she needs to work on etc I don't know if this report would answer these questions but she's comparing her grade 2 (which was an in person examiner) results to her grade 3 results. She is very focused and determined so it's about getting back to where she was for her. She's back to grade 4 has started inter foundation and is back to her JA classes as a year 5. Hello, Looking for some advice my DD has just got her results though for her grade 3 exam she got a high merit (71) which I am very proud of but she is disappointed and down hearted. Previously she has got distinction on her exams, results being in the 80s she has improved on her previous score so to drop so many marks is disheartening for her. Her ballet teacher was surprised by the result, she's worked incredibly hard for it is an junior associates her teacher there has said how well she is doing. It was a video recorded exam rather than an in person examiner. I've told her we are proud of her, that she did her best and all she can do is move forward with more determination and focus. I can see in her face how disappointed she is and she's already wondering where she dropped marks. It does seem like she's dropped a lot when her teacher said she was ready and the exam went well. Has anyone else had this? Are the examiner harder markers? Ballet is very much her life and she's worried it will affect her applying when the time comes for dance schools/courses, I try not to talk about to far in the future but with a brother in secondary school and talk around future paths in school its hard to avoid especially as she is focused. She's 9 coming up 10. Thanks

Thank you that's good to know I will do a bun for tomorrow and see what they say which I think is for the best I'm good a neat buns but think the plaits if required will need a few practice runs.

My daughters starting at the Totnes centre I'm a bit unsure about hair had read somewhere that it was plaits but the handbook I received said this: 'HAIR FOR STUDENTS All students with long hair must wear their hair drawn back from their face in a neat style (for example a bun) so that their hair does not cause a distraction when they dance. Students with very short hair are allowed to wear it down if it is too short to be drawn back into a ponytail.' I don't know if it's different for different centres. Think I'm going to do a bun take the ribbons with me and see what the teacher says we are allowed to stay for the first 30 mins so assuming they will go through things like that.

We haven't had anything either I did wonder if we'd get an email from the teacher or they'd mention it in the first lesson.

Had anyone received their invoice? I had a form about payment how you would pay beginning of aug but no invoice yet it said payment was due 1st September realised that's next week so slightly panicking. Haven't received her uniform yet either 😬
