  1. Maybe I will go to the ball next week, I have a ticket for Thursday 29th March and there would have been a train strike starting at midnight! BTW, I'm a Friend and I haven't had any offers but I already had the 29th booked, plus some others.
  2. I'm going to return my ticket for tonight's WW but will wait about an hour, amphi S65 £24, think it's in a wheelchair area so a quick exit might not be possible, but it's close to the lifts.
  3. No problems this morning, prices not too high either, very different from the Russian Summer Seasons in the past where I could pay over £500, they have put together a much cheaper and very different mix of works, hope it sells!
  4. I bought a cheapish ticket for Alessandra Ferri on 16/3 this afternoon, knowing it was a strike day but taking a chance, there does seem to be a calling off of strikes momentum starting.
  5. This one was quicker and easier than the first, wonder how many there will be ?
  6. The Radio Times just said "Swan Lake" so I ignored it, but this sounds very interesting, I must dig out my DVD of Fonteyn and Nureyev in this production to verify, but I think this is the one where Nureyev gave himself a coda to the 2nd act pdd, which did exist in the original score, it includes a glorious diagonal of steps!
  7. I was just reading the ENB website, and noticed that Creature has just been released as a film, this was news to me although I possibly can't find any postings, and is almost in the cinemas now, in fact I've booked for this coming Saturday 25th at Dukes at Kommedia Brighton at 4,20pm, there are about another 5 showings at awkward times i.e. 11am, 12.30am, and 21 pm. I half wanted to see it at SW but this is so much easier and cheaper, the first cast presumably, and hopefully easier on the ears!
  8. The Alvin Ailey programme is probably Chroma, Grace, Takademe, and Revelations. I have this on Blu-Ray and love the way they dance Chroma!
  9. Many thanks for this advance casting of Anastasia, I was going to see the first two ballets and leave early, but now feel I must see Laura Morera as Anastasia, good to know which nights she is dancing!
  10. I've just received my Blu Ray from France via Amazon, the case and booklet are all in English.
  11. I received and did mine yesterday, can't imagine they could make a sensible report on me, except "old skinflint" 😉
  12. Yes, this is about the time the cast lists appear on the website, useless on the days I go! I've got ROH programmes going back to 1965, like AnneL, I usually only buy new productions, but I will get the Cinderella one hopefully for some rehearsal photos.
  13. I would like to know the name of the leading gypsy man 🙂, I'm having a difficult time trying put in some chapters to copy it from HDD to DVD, it is a great cast and production though, I like Cupid danced by a young man, and Don Q is nicer and more sane than usual. Momoko Hirata is fantastic!
  14. The online ROH Shop had it, but it was cheaper from Amazon, and I'm waiting for it to arrive by 11th February, seems to be coming from a French dealer, I don't think Amazon had their own supplies.
  15. That was the best thing I've seen on TV for ages, it should have been on at Christmas. So much fabulous non-stop dancing, actually quite exhausting to watch, let alone dance, looking forward to seeing it again tonight, thanks to the cast list above I'll know more of the dancer's names.
  16. Aurora looks like she has a splitting headache, but I love the photo of the 3 girls, they look perfectly poised.
  17. I've got all the right boots, gloves and hats for snow, but as usual the train situation is the problem, I wouldn't want to stay overnight, so let's hope it blows over.
  18. Yes, I've read Janet's reviews now and luckily they are all better than The Times, I imagine the two young dancers were very nervous about dancing the Press Night. Elegance and style are qualities that I like anyway so I think I will love them!
  19. I was thinking in general when I posted, but then I saw the bad weather predicted for Tuesday!
  20. I've just read The Times at home and there is a fairly negative review of Aitor Arrieta, also mentioning the general lack of top male principals in the Company, so I'm pleased to read Sim's more generous and believable posting above, I'm hoping nothing stops me from going on Tuesday to see this cast!
  21. Was it the one where there were two things going on, the ballet dancers behind the scenes, and the performance of R and J itself? I quite liked it, but can't remember anything other than it was one of the lesser known travelling Russian Companies.
  22. I was just going to hand in my ticket for Thursday, now I'm hanging on to it for a bit longer 😉 I'm sure many will disagree, but I think Natalia Osipova and Marianela Nunez do have equal prima ballerina stature, the management probably thought this was the best option.
  23. I was able to get a refund for Nutcracker on Saturday evening, first time ever in my experience at the Coli and I think in response to the rail strike forcing people to cancel, less 10% discount and paid back into my bank account. I could only swap the ticket for another ENB one and there weren't any.
  24. The plot thickens - yesterday I received an E-mail from the Theatre Royal Brighton inviting me to buy discounted tickets for the Varna International Ballet, and as the prices were high I got one for Giselle on 13th February,( Nutcracker and Swan Lake are on the next two nights) without checking up, I've just looked again and it says the Company was founded in 1947 and this is their first UK tour, with dancers from Ukraine and European countries, this is the information that the Theatre Royal has been given. I don't mind, it will just be lovely to see Giselle without a train journey!!!
  25. I really enjoyed this, it was a unique concept, hard to describe, lots of colour, exciting dancing for the men, modern music that I liked, in fact Coppelia seemed the wrong title at times, and I smiled every time I saw Irek and Darcey!
