  1. Does anyone have any views on the Northern ballet grad programme, we have been offered a place for next year but don’t know enough about it, anyone knows anyone who is on the grad programme at the moment and can give me an idea of numbers and there views and insight of the programme, any help would be greatly appreciated to help us decide if we should take the place

    thanks in advance

From what I gather Solo Seal is either pass or not - ie not with grades such as Distinction or Merit.  I imagine that they would look at the dancer overall and not fail her for one slip.  If your daughter is taking Solo Seal that must mean she's passed Advanced 2 with Distinction, which is amazing!   Much luck to her!!!   You must be so proud of her achievements!

Thank you for the positive comment, yes she did pass with a high distinction and yes you are right it is with a pass or fail- you have to get 8 and over in every section on 4 solos, it’s tough and very few pass this, even if she don’t pass it was a great day and experience, I just didn’t want a fall on a slippery floor to effect the result x

    thanks you

  3. No it’s not awarded on the day you find out later exactly the same as rad exams

they have a solo seal on Friday at rad headquarters which is the first open event which members of the public can go and watch - how do these young dancers do it? I would be a wobbling mess if I ever had to do that!

good luck to all the candidates doing there solo seal on Friday though what a rad journey to go on and reach the final exam, I know the pass rate is pretty low but what an achievement xx

  4. Has anybody any experience on the rad solo seal?
    any views?

do you get the results on the day or have to wait like a rad exam?

    any information would be helpful

  5. I really would not worry mu dd has been going since the age of 8, she will enjoy every second, they really look after every single person who attends and the care they have from them is off the scale - you won’t hear from her as she won’t have time and will be having too much fun, my daughter is going but is now 17 and I really would not worry about it but I know that’s so hard x

hope she has the time of her life, xx

  8. We dd is in tring 6th form and there are a few who have mds - the ones who have a mds are the ones who were in year 11 and were able to carry there mds funding into 6th form, as a rule any new students will be on dada - but saying that as said above if they want you they will fund you somehow!
