  1. We have 4 White Lodge maroon/plum leotards; two size 2 and two size 2A. They have been worn a reasonable amount but would last another year. Selling for £10 for all four including P&P. Let me know if interested, thanks
  2. Many thanks, I have rung Axa PPP and they have quoted £21.71 per month for the comprehensive cover with physio etc. This will be a saving of £455 per year on what the school offers. I hope this will help some other parents save some money too given that having insurance is compulsory, at my DD's school at least.
  3. I also saw Lauretta on Saturday and was so impressed. She oozes confidence which always makes it easier to watch and enjoy a performance. I love capybara's description of having plenty of time; she literally held balances seconds longer than you thought possible; she is a name to watch!
  4. I wondered if anyone has experience of arranging private medical insurance for vocational students? The school my DD is at offers a BUPA scheme at £238.50 per term which seems very expensive, but you are allowed to arrange your own policy. Any experience appreciated. Thanks
  5. I counted on the list of female students auditioning yesterday; 17 of the 36 girls were from overseas. Some of these will already be at White Lodge, but I think it is a shame that we seem unable to get more British students to the upper school.
  6. My DD was offered a place (at 16) last year and we were impressed with the set up. On further investigation it seemed the scholarships were actually means tested bursaries. We know several people who have been on the course and the feedback has been very mixed, though I guess you will get this from all schools.
  7. All good advice. Another thing to consider is the kudos attached to attending WL. Everyone the world over has heard of the RBS. However things turn out, to have that on your CV will always be impressive both inside and outside of the ballet world. I have experience of both schools but find many people haven't heard of Elmhurst. Obviously this is not the only consideration, but worth thinking through. Good luck with the auditions; it is a very anxious time.
  8. Apologies for the delay in replying. I'm afraid these magazines have now been sold.
  9. My daughter auditioned four times. The first two times she didn't get through the first audition. The third time she got to the final and became a MA. The fourth time she got a place for Y10! So keep trying; if they are improving anything is possible and every student develops at different rates.
  10. These would make a great Christmas present, especially for those starting the audition process for vocational school.
  11. Just to add, there is an additional £10 fee per order for Bob's shoes and they will not give any student discount so this make the shoes very expensive, especially as it will probably take several fittings / pairs of shoes until you are really happy with them. However, his advice and knowledge are excellent.

  14. Many universities have a ballet society or dance society which offer classes. From personal experience I know that both Leeds and Birmingham Uni's both do. In fact at Birmingham they have a dance society and a medsoc dance group specifically for medics. Between them they offer ballet, separate pointe classes as well as a range of other dance forms.
  15. The larger skirt has sold, just the smaller one remaining. PM me if interested. Thanks
  16. These wonderful magazines were produced in association with the Royal Ballet with exclusive access to their costume and photography archive and access to their expert consultants. They also follow the life of a student through White Lodge. Full of interesting and useful information for young aspiring dancers. I have the full set of 60 magazines (just nos 3 missing), together with many of the free gifts. The magazines retailed at £2.99 each. PM me if interested in buying the set.
