  1. National Youth Ballet is pleased to offer engaging and exciting three hour Summer workshops with our leading teachers and facilitators in Leeds. The workshops will focus on building performance skills and nurturing creativity. These energising and exciting workshops will enhance dancers’ skills, whilst also nurturing their confidence and preparing them for forthcoming experiences. The workshops will include: A specifically designed ballet class, which will focus not only on developing technique but also on nurturing young dancers’ individual performance skills to help them to showcase their abilities quickly in new environments. A creative class with an NYB choreographer which will challenge and empower young dancers to explore their own creative voices and give them an opportunity to perform their own work in a studio setting. A Moving Minds session will support and nurture dancers’ mindset, preparing them for all that lies ahead. The opportunity to receive tailored feedback from NYB Creative Director Jo Meredith and/or Associate Artistic Director Amelia O’Hara.   2. The Dancers' Development Experience is run at the same time, but is non-residential and participants are not required to audition to take part. It is a different course than the residential performance company, working with different practitioners, and with an emphasis on developing technical skills, artistry and cultivating creativity. We hope that this course will enable more young dancers to become part of the NYB family by opening up this course to more young people.

National Youth Ballet is delighted to announce a 5-day non-residential Dancers’ Development Experience in Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham, designed to support and nurture the talented young dancers of the future. The course will take place from Monday 14th August 2023 - Friday 18th August 2023, 10am-4pm daily. Dancers will have the chance to work together as a company, to hone their technical skills, develop their artistry and cultivate their creativity. These young people will develop their skills as company dancers, whilst experiencing first-hand the process of creating a new ballet with a professional choreographer. There will be a focus on developing performance skills and all the work will be supported by NYB's Moving Minds, designed to build confidence and resilience in young performers. The dancers will have the opportunity to take class with Louise Bennett (Performance Company Artistic Director) and Amelia O’Hara (Performance Company Associate Artistic Director), and will receive personal, written feedback at the end of the course from NYB Creative Director Jo Meredith.   7. NYB’s Residential Performance Company is back! We are looking for dancers, aged between nine and eighteen, to join the 2022 company for a nine-day residential at Elmhurst Ballet School culminating in performances at The Crescent Theatre, Birmingham and Sadler’s Wells, London. Audition dates:Rambert School, London, Sunday 6th March 2022 The Place, London, Sunday 13th March 2022 MAC, Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham, Sunday 20th March 2022 We understand that auditions can be an intimidating process for dancers, but they are also a key part of life as a professional dancer! To enhance dancers’ skills, our Moving Minds team will provide a short workshop before the audition to help each dancer perform to their full potential.   8. Friday 4 June 2021, 11am -12.15pm Online Workshop for 12-18 yr olds £10 Book Now National Youth Ballet is committed to responding to young dancers’ needs. This instalment of our Moving Minds series will focus on group dynamics and explore key topics around giving and receiving feedback, team work and social and emotional well-being after a year of working independently. The session will aim to equip you with practical skills and strategies to integrate meaningfully in your future training, courses and performances. NYB’s professional and experienced team will lead this tailored, bespoke session for 12-18 year olds, with a limited number of places to ensure an engaging experience for all participants. The session will be led by NYB practitioners, Charlie Brittain and Carrie Johnson. Charlie’s specialism in Sports Therapy and musculoskeletal health, Carrie’s in Sports Psychology and their joint experience working in professional dance make them ideal workshop leaders for this project.

Each day they will work intensively to hone their technical skills, develop their artistry and cultivate their creativity. These young people will develop their skills as company dancers, whilst experiencing first-hand the process of creating a new ballet with a professional choreographer.
