  1. Lil-lets Teens range are smaller pads and so great for leotards. They also do a teen starter pack. My DD Carrys around a nice little case in her dance bag for them. I also recommend ‘Fab Little Bag’ (or similar) for easy disposal. https://www.lil-lets.com/uk/our-products/teens/ https://fablittlebag.com/
  2. Didsbury and Chorlton are both fairly easy for getting to Centre Pointe in Denton, where you can find Pre-Vocational training. They also have really nice studios, a good cafe and a shop on site (for mums taxi ☕️ 🍰) which is a bonus. My Dd didn’t train there as we chose another very good school in Cheshire which was closer to where we lived. But my dd has friends at CP who are very happy there. She also attended the Manchester JA classes there, (although the JA venue has now changed), and more recently attended a Tierney Heap workshop at CP, and she really enjoyed it. https://www.centre-pointe.co.uk/ Good luck with your move!
  3. For the first term there were no Saturday classes. Students could stay or leave after class on Fridays. After the Christmas holiday they started having Saturday classes, and could then leave from around 1:15pm onwards. My dd lives further away, and so stays quite often. There are always other girls and boys staying for the full weekend. 🙂
  4. My dd is at WL. They have Saturday morning classes which started after the first term. After class they have some planned activities such as shopping; visiting the markets; the seasonal Christmas markets; The London Eye; the cinema; walks; scavenger hunts. The activities and trips are optional so the child signs up for what they want to do, and they are paid for by parents. There is also a swimming pool which can be used at weekends, and the students might decide to play some football together, or tennis. My dd enjoys being out in the garden with her friends when the weather is nice. They seem to find plenty to do together and when I call to check in on her she is usually happy and busy doing something with her friends
  5. A recall is to have another look at a child. For various reasons. A child who is not recalled means they have enough information to make a decision. My dd had a recall and got offered a place last year. A friend had a recall and was offered wait list. It’s not something that you can second guess unfortunately 😊 Hope everyone hears back soon 🤞🤞😊
  6. Hi Zara, Ballet Boost and also CATs associate classes are popular choices for dancers from in and around Manchester. If you want to let me know the areas in which you are looking to move to, I can make some dance school recommendations for you. I’m happy if you want to DM me?
  7. Tickets wanted for R&J this Saturday 5th Feb. Ideally 5 tickets together. Or, can take 3 together plus a 2 together. We can’t do standing as 3 tickets are for 12 Yr olds who won’t be able to see properly in standing. Thank you 😊
  8. We are looking for tickets for R&J this Saturday 12th Feb either :- 5 tickets together OR : 3 tickets together + 2 tickets together Three of the tickets are for 12yr olds and so standing won’t work for us unfortunately. Thank you
  9. My dd was week 1 and we haven’t received the video yet. Maybe they will wait until all weeks have been completed and then edit them all at once? I’m really looking forward to seeing it 😁x
  10. Great advise above! I would also add to watch ballet performances and professional dancers for inspiration. There are lots of great options available to watch professional performances on You Tube, as well as live streamed performances from ballet companies. If you follow the ballet companies such as RB and BRB online, they regularly advertise live streamed performances. Visit to watch at the theatre if possible. Young dancers can pick up a lot from watching the professionals. Regards your dd doing 30 mins of ballet a week, I do know of at least one associate who was doing only one weekly class of ballet outside of the associate classes. Potential can show through at a young age. And so it is possible to gain a place this way. However, my dd started to add on extra ballet classes at around the age of 7. Up until this point she was doing a 1.5hr once a week of combined Ballet, modern, and tap. I was a newly single and newly self employed mum, working 7 days a week. And so a weekly lesson at first was all I could manage. My dd had developed a love of ballet, and she was keen to do more. From about age 7 we were able to add a couple more Ballet classes a week. Plus other types or dance. My dd successfully auditioned for one associate class at age 8. She successfully auditioned for a second associate class at age 10. By this point she was doing ballet classes 3 or 4 times a week, plus stretch, tap, lyrical and modern. Fast forward to age 11, and my dd has gained a place at a vocational ballet school. If your dd wants to audition for associates, don’t be put you off that she is currently doing 30 mins a week. But do speak to your dance teacher about what she can do to improve her chances, and the extra classes offered sound like a good idea.
  11. @Ballerina_girlthere is also Ballet Boost in Stoke. And there is Ballet North Associates, which run Mids classes in association with Cheshire Theatre School in Stockport. I’ve heard good things about both these schemes, as well as the Northern Ballet as mentioned by @Shelovesdancex
  12. I don’t have any experience of yr 9, only the yr 7 audition. Good luck for Friday!! X
  13. My DD had this contraption, which I’ve never heard of before. I’ve tried to Google it online and can’t find any reference to it anywhere. 🤷🏻‍♀️ No idea if it’s a good or a bad thing, but DD does have hyper mobility and so maybe was to check this? Could have been turn out? She was told it was to check “degrees”, but not sure degrees of what?? 🤔x
  14. My DD has received a Yr 7 MDS Wait list in the post this morning too! X
  15. We used Richmond gate, and drove very slowly as there were a lot of cyclists and walkers out enjoying the sunshine! My DD really enjoyed the audition! Good luck to everyone auditioning over the weekend!!
  16. I asked about how long results would take, and was told by the lady who brought my DD out from her physio that it would be anything from Friday to next week! So very soon by the sounds of it!
  17. My DD loved Hammond today! She came out beaming! She said everyone was really nice and she made new friends. She said a few of them joined in to make “a finger tapping orchestra” whilst waiting between classes in the library. Then she gave me a performance from Six when we got home! From the Musical Theatre class! Such a great positive experience!
