  1. So sorry Pups_mum...sending masses of "Get Well Quickly" wishes for your DD. I'm having a bit of that "why now" feeling myself...DD was sent home from school on Monday afternoon with a very nasty virus that is doing the rounds...but it's meant that she's missed the 2 Theatre Rehearsals for Nutcracker at the Coliseum this week now, plus Santa in the dorms, Secret Santa swaps and if she doesn't make it back tomorrow she'll miss Panto and Christmas Party She doesn't get ill often so it's such a shame for her...but at least it'll be over before she starts her Nutcracker run on the 22nd! Fingers crossed that your DD recovers well enough to take her exam and do it justice xxx
  2. Have a wonderful, magical trip Julie!
  3. Ahhh...that's lovely....I did exactly the same thing when my DD's letter arrived last year....her primary school was a couple of hundred yards up the road so I ran up to school to give her the good news! You'll be walking around on cloud 9 for days now.
  4. Fantastic news Busymum - congratulations to you and your DD!
  5. Congratulations to you and your DD Busymum
  6. Good luck to all the DD's and DS's that are auditioning tomorrow
  7. Sorry to hear your news Our first audition was at Elmhurst last year too and we got the dreaded "no" letter, but that was followed by 2 lovely "yes" letters and invite to funding audition so, onwards and upwards for your DD Vetty....as Kat09 says, all the schools look for something slightly different. Good luck for the rest of your DD's auditions x
  8. Hi again SDM, the Vocational School stock isn't listed on the online store. You'll get the exact details of it from Tring, then you can order by phone, call into the shop (if you live locally) or they do a pop up shop at the school once every other week so you can arrange to get one that way. Hope this helps x Edited to say: Sorry Jane, I've just noticed that I've repeated what you put above lol x
  9. Well done to your DD southerndancemum :-D
  10. Congratulations to your DD Lema - one step closer
  11. The waiting is the worst bit Lema - hope it's good news for you though! Last year we found The Hammond were quickest with results, followed by Elmhurst, then Tring with Royal being the slowest. Good luck to everyone else auditioning too
  12. I second that! We'll be keeping it all crossed for her
  13. Good luck for your DD tomorrow - maybe tell her that her pet would want her to do her very best and to dance in tribute to him/her? Sad timing for you though x
  14. Hi Sugarplumsmum, just wanted to say that I hope everything has gone well and that your DD has an amazing first day at Tring today
  15. Wishing everyone who is auditioning for Lower School at Tring this week the very best of luck! If it's anything like the auditions days we experienced last year you'll have a great time and hopefully hear some beautiful singing as the school prepare for the Christmas Carol concert - we loved hearing them and seeing the dance classes that were happening...and now this year DD is amongst them all! It really doesn't seem like a whole year ago that we were auditioning. Enjoy it all
  16. Hi Sugarplumsmum, I've PM'd you. x
  17. Fantastic news - congratulations to your DD
  18. Good luck to you all - I remember the anxiousness you're experiencing so well from last year. This forum was (and still is) permanently open on my desktop It's easier said than done to just try to enjoy it....but I know DD came out of all 4 of the schools audition days having enjoyed them and that's the main thing....we didn't know whether she would make the grade but we knew we had to give her the opportunity. It does kind of take over your life for a few months but it's worth it to see them going for their dreams! Hang on tight and feel free to keep posting for reassurance if you need it x
  19. Hi Bankrupt Mum, you're so right....it was definitely one to put down to experience. The very last day of that particular festival DD only had one section and I didn't want to waste time & money going over there given the 2 previous weekends we'd had but all credit to DD, she said she still wanted to go....and she got placed 2nd with a qualification so I guess the adjudicator finally saw something she liked The Festival in June was back to normal with all her Classical solos placed 1st, 2nd & 3rd with qualifying marks plus the Junior National Trophy which was brilliant for her last Festival before Tring. The good news too is that she's been given permission from the Head at Tring to see this Festival cycle through and go to Regionals so she's got 4 solos to take on and compete with next May. Only problem is she hasn't got time to practice much... It's weird now seeing the rest of the All England squad at DD's local dance school still out there at the qualifying festivals that DD isn't part of - we do miss them...but DD is absolutely loving Tring and wouldn't change it for the world
  20. Yes, I think this shows that the best idea is to wear the shoes that your DD feels happiest wearing. Tring wear split sole for class, and as I said in yesterday's post DD wore her split sole canvas for all 3 other auditions - it seems to be the RBS one where rumours / opinions tend to flourish and I think there is a lot to be said for "teacher preference" as you mentioned. When you throw that into the mix, you don't ultimately know who will be on the panel or what their personal preference is so all roads lead back to the "best fit and comfort" option It's one of those strange things where logic tells you that they won't reject an applicant based on the shoe worn....but you still can't help wanting to make sure there are no red flags that you could have avoided for them.... Good luck to everyone on the audition trail this year x
  21. Yes - I think it was satins that DD wore to RBS
