They always used JA’s and YD’s from Elmhurst however the year my dad did it in 2019 they did an open audition and nearly 500 hundred rocked up to the auditions! They should do that every year !

This is a tricky one … but at our vocational school we were told no more than two weeks, rest MUST be included and then a conditioning programme set by the school. I happen to agree with this and don’t think it’s wise doing endless back to back intensives. The body needs rest to grow plus most growth spurts occur during these summer breaks so again puts unnecessary risk on the body . Also you risk burn out from an already packed summer term going into multiple courses. Yes these courses are enriching, you learn, you make new friends etc but can’t replace daily class/ conditioning . it’s finding the balance. Please don’t feel under pressure to follow the crowd as each child’s body is individual. Some really great advice on here

Closing Newcastle and Totnes JA centres
The red shoes replied to The red shoes's topic in Doing Dance
Yes it’s Edinburgh -
Anyone know why these centres are closing for RBS JA’s? Read about it yesterday in their newsletter and curios

Quality over quantity . If your DD has a great teacher then that should be enough along side her JA class . Please don’t fall into the trap or under pressure of filling her week with various ballet classes with multiple teachers. I know many children who were accepted into vocational ballet school just attending JA’s and their once a week ballet class .

A yes for one of my students and a no for the other ! Hard when that happens 😔

Still nothing for my students

Have you heard anything yet? I had two pupils audition and they’ve not had anything back yet 🤔

It was merely a suggestion as to why a certain week might be oversubscribed.. only a suggestion. I rarely comment on here these days for fear of being lynched or offending anyone unintentionally… Please don’t take what I said the wrong way or twist it into something it was not . I will not be lead into any more discussion regarding it.

Not at all… I’m just saying there are quite a few more who applied this year than last year so obviously with more applications it’s going to be harder to offer places .. I can only speak of that particular vocational school… I’m sure others have had many students apply too.

A lot of WL students applied this year for YBS. Due to term dates they are restricted to week 3 so I guess if lots applied for week 3 then that’s why there are lots on the waiting list

Day in the life of a year 7 at WL, Tring and Elmhurst
The red shoes replied to Jane156's topic in Doing Dance
There are regular trips on Sundays at WL. And not left to own devices. Yesterday they did ceramic paining and this Sunday it’s a trip to the sea life centre. They do treasure hunts, museum visits, trips to the cinema plus they have swimming on site at the weekends too. -
Royal Ballet's The Nutcracker, Winter 2022/3

This makes sense then as James Large appeared to slip/ stumble as he ran on at the start of act two in the same place Marianella slipped.- 572 replies

Royal Ballet's The Nutcracker, Winter 2022/3
The red shoes replied to MJW's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
She did indeed look unhappy and appeared to “ mark” or possibly “ limp” through the last few bars of choreography. She looked very sad or unwell… couldn’t work out which. It was my first time seeing them both live and despite her mishap I thought they were sublime and I cried throughout their first adage- 572 replies

How long is it from Stanmore to Covent garden? I have tickets on 14th December for nutcracker 7:30. I’m in Wellingborough so trains will be few and far between . Would I still be able to get a train back from Covent Garden to Stanmore? -
ROH World Ballet Day 2022
The red shoes replied to Sophoife's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Exactly! There are some highly accomplished technical dancers out there who do absolutely nothing for me … musicality, emotion and acting wins me over rather than amazing feet and 10 pirouettes! -
