  1. Thank you very much for your reply, I'm studying Vaganova style ballet so I would prefer this method. I'll contact them and find out more.
  2. Ok thank you for clearing that up
  3. If anyone has either the ARBTA or RAD current advanced 1 syllabus for sale please let me know. Thank you
  4. Could anyone advise me what ballet schools in UK and Europe have year round auditions please? I know all of the big ones have a certain time period for auditions, but please could you give me some examples of those that are open year round? Thank you
  5. Hello all! As a young dancer auditioning for schools at the moment I would like to know if any of your DCs have gone on to have a ballet career by following an unconventional route i.e. not going to vocational school and doing training through private classes abroad and then on to a ballet company for apprenticeship? I am fortunate to have the option to do either and am leaning towards the latter but I only have one shot at this as next year I will be too old for vocational school... any experiences very much appreciated.
  6. Thanks for that Balletbean, I suppose I feel a bit cheated that they didn't give me a chance. The school is in the EU and I can try again in another few months but I'm just wondering if there's any point if they won't go further then my application form... I asked if maybe there was something that I filled out incorrectly but I got quite a short reply stating that it was at the discretion of the artistic director.
  7. Feeling disheartened this morning... I sent a video to the school that I would like to attend and I got a no this morning. Its just that according to the video platform, they didn't even view my video, they just went by what I put on the form with the payment... not a UK school
  8. Stunning black velvet leo with deep back and lovely black net v mesh inset to the front by Kandi Kouture. Gorgeous pattern on the velvet. Bought from another site but too long in the body for me unfortunately - I'm an adult XS but I really hoped I'd fit into this £25 + postage
  9. Oh Kanangra I really do feel for that girl, it really is such a gigantic step to move that far away. I hope she found happiness and her place closer to home.
  10. Allwrong, I can't thank you enough for coming on here and sharing your DD's experiences, it really is invaluable to people like me just starting out. Your review sounds just great to be honest! I do have some specific questions and will dm you. Thanks again
  11. Thank you so much for that suggestion Cotes du rhone ! I will do that, in the meantime, I hope someone will contact me with their experiences.
  12. Would any members please have any reviews or opinions of this school? I have been offered a place there but I can't find anything online from people's personal experiences - if you'd rather message directly thats no problem at all, I just really need some opinions good or bad! Thanks
  13. Thanks for the reply Harwel, its really great to hear about the job side of things too!
  14. Thank you for the reply Kanangra - is your friend that attends the school happy with the training and the school itself?
  15. Does anyone have any reviews, recommendations or opinions on this ballet school please - I realise it is relatively new so I cannot find much online about it other than their own website. If you'd rather pm than post please do thank you
  16. I've been reading this thread with interest. It seems to be from what I have read that ballet schools in particular dont provide a huge amount of help regarding auditions - please correct me if I have read this wrong. If this is the case, where is the best place (website, social media page, other) to find audition information specifically regarding ballet?
  17. Brand new with tags, Grishko mesh wrap skirt in Lilac. £10 plus postage.
  18. Thank you all very much for your input. I asked the question here purely because my coach has suggested that's what I do when I come home to UK. My breaks are usually about a month long, 3 times a year. I hadn't realised that at 16 this may not be possible. I would love a classical ballet company but obviously I've noticed more and more that contemporary is also a requirement- that is skill I lack unfortunately but I hope to start classes very soon.
  19. Hi again. I'm back again looking for advice!! I am in my first year of studying abroad via a personal coach as opposed to a school. I'm 16 years old. It is just the route that opened up for me and I'm loving it. I have been told that I should try to get short term work in a Company situation when I'm on breaks and am home. Would this be like an apprenticeship or trainee ship- does the UK even have this type of thing?
  20. Thank you so much for all the advice here, as Lusodancer says, this really is an invaluable forum for those just coming up the ladder.
  21. Thank you all very much for your input, I definitely don't feel so stressed about it now. Apart from regular ballet class, I do Pas de Deux, character and acting. The only thing really that I don't do is Contemporary and I do feel this is a key piece. I will also have the opportunity to perform with an associated Company a little in my second year. I will certainly look into A levels via distance learning. Great idea regarding trying to get into a 2nd or 3rd year of a school after my second year, it hadn't even occurred to me that this was possible!
