Thank you all for your advice about an another si for my daughter. Does someone knows if they ask for photos or videos for Malvern ?
It doesn’t seem so on their site but I m not sure.

Elmhurst do a SS, they are photos but different to RBS front, back, side and one other, my ballet language is rubbish, so wont attempt to say it 🤣

  2. This is a really interesting topic and one that rings a chord. I have two girls and the older one (who is nearly 18) I was really strict on all social medie and she found ways of doing it and me not knowing, feircly lead by peer pressure (she is susceptible to this as part of her personality) Roll on 2nd DD who is nearly 12 and asked for Insta, so she is on my account as an extra account and private. Everything goes through me,we have two strict rules.. I do all the follow requests and respomd to "message requests" which usually get deleted. So far so good and she doesnt seem to caught up in it, she enjoys sharing things and seeing what others post, She is learning to use it safely and I am big brother! 🤣 as I wont hesitste to delete the account if she doesnt follow my rulee, essntially it is my accoumt. It all depends on how you feel about it and how you think your child will be with social media but for me I learnt from the fiirst DD but it is all a minefield and needs to be ballanced, it is very much a personal decision 😊

Hello! Applied for the first time for summer intensive (not expecting a yes as we did the photos ourselves and I'm not a dancer....). Anyone know when we will get results? Also where it asked whether you were interested in being considered for a place in the school I said no (as she is in another vocational school). Does this question have any bearing on their decision do you think?

Sorry trying to reply and seem to be having problems 😅  I've messaged below lol now but I have ticked no and am wondering the same now 🤔

Thanks so much . Is your DC happy so far , I know they will have only just started xx

Yes so far thankyou but as already said there's things to take into account that we didn't see straight away... the exeat weekends etc and travelling and other things. Ask away on thus forum, I'm sure people will be happy to share, every journey is individual but still useful to know others experiences xx

Hi, when i paid i received an email from platform@parentpay.com confirming receipt of payment and it does mention Elmhurst Ballet School with contact details for reference if there are any queries.

Just found it 🤣🤣🤣 thankyou so much!!

  6. Hi quick question, the deposit is paid by parent pay which I've done but I haven't had any email confirmation that I've paid, other than my bank says £50 paid to parentpay, doesn't even say Elmhurst. Has this been the same for any of you? Am I worrying uneccassrily as usual! 🤣

  7. I can highly recommend Ballet Boost, my DC has really enjoyed their time with BBA, the only reason we are leaving is because my DC is starting vocational training in September. There are uniform standards to adhere to, which I think is a good thing and it also gives the child a sense of belonging too. My DC has found the lessons brilliant and always come out happy. From a "strict" sense I have always found the lessons well structured with focus, the children behave well and my DC always comes out smiling,  keen to tell me what they've learnt, we will miss BBA

Congratulations to your DC and you for their new journey starting in September!

I don't envy the multitude of parents who had to make seismic life-decisions for their children via zoom!  What a crazy journey and experience, probably adding an extra layer of stress to something already highly stressful!  I'm a research freak, so find this forum invaluable.

At this moment in time, I am treating every school as a worst-case scenario that we pay for it, so I am considering this process with eyes wide open, (as far as they can be haha).  I do wonder what those additional fees might add up to.  I'm sure they're highly variable from school to school, but I am sure they're not a small or insignificant number either, on top of the already enormous fees.

Thankyou. Think its just good to get a feel for what the extras are, it's my searching on here and speaking to people helped, somehow us parents find it haha and if you offset what you are currently spending on all aspects of dance then it's not too bad. I found the MDS calculators on Elmhurst and RBS very useful to work out an approximate of what you might pay if on and MDS, once again people on here have said it's fairly accurate but obviously I'm not 100% sure

Best of luck to your DC let us know how it all goes 🥰

  9. We have completed the vocational journey this year... starting  with applications as long ago September 2020 for this September. I went into it with eyes wide shut! 🤣 it was an extraordinary year for auditioning and hopefully for all auditioning for 2022 it will be a bit more back to the norm. There were no open days, or school tours due to covid, so all my research was done online and through virtual tours. This forum was extremely helpful, as it gave a gateway to talk to people who have dc's currently attending vocational schools, who were happy to share knowledge and experience. My main tips would be do your research. Although RBS and Elmhurst mostly (I believe) come with MDS (which is also income assessed) Tring and Hammond only have a certain amount to give out, these two schools do preliminaries then funding finals. Tring select for funding finals, Hammond offer all those who have me the required standard for the school (who are offered a full fee paying place) an MDS final audition. Then there are other costs to feature when you are doing your research, picking up and returning for exeat weekends, additional things at weekends, uniform and other things but I found alot of information out from lovely, experienced people on here. Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you need to, each vocational school is different in what they offer and what they look for (that's what I've read on here)

We have had a stressful but also enlightening journey with my DC, I wouldn't change it but I wasn't quite prepared for the roller coaster haha. We wanted to support our DC to try and we don't regret a minute. I've also met some lovely people and made new friends too. Go for it and see where it leads, nothing is set in stone or undoable. Good luck and always ask questions on this forum, you will get an experienced answer im sure 😊 my DC starts vocational school in September, so we are now on another new journey!

We haven't had any news yet, however we wouldn't change a thing. We always knew it was unlikely to get MDS with going for yr 9, but she had a fabulous time, got audition experience, got to dance in a studio for the first time in months and we had a lovely 2 night stay in a very nice hotel 😊. And if she's not successful she has an amazing life at home being home schooled and doing 6 ballet classes a week with the most incredible teacher who also teaches at the RBS.  If it's a no she'll obviously be devastated as this has all been initiated by her and it's her dream, however destiny works its way. They'll all get to where they are meant to, it just might be down a different path.

    Have you heard yet? x
