  1. Thank you so much @Activeswi, I’m delighted to hear that your dd’s enjoyed it enough to go back again! I’m so pleased you have said it is geared around international students too, we had been told (through the grapevine!) that everything was taught in French, so that’s a huge relief she will understand what’s going on a bit more! The show on the Saturday sounds beautiful, that will be a lovely memory for us all to cherish. Thank you so much for your advise re La Defense, I will look that up later today. My dd is not actually boarding, my husband is going to take her as she will only just have turned 10 and boarding places were incredibly limited this year due to restrictions so we didn’t want it to impact on an offer of a place for her, so that’s great to know they could potentially stay in La Defense and walk in each day. @Marconcinithat’s brilliant advice re snacks, thank you so much. We will make sure she takes lots as I’m sure they will burn off so much energy! I didn’t know about the trip either, that sounds like a lovely excursion for them all😀 I will have to look up Repetto, I feel like that and the large availability of Degas will bankrupt me!!! I really appreciate you both posting, and you’ve been so helpful. Thank you so much x
  2. We received an acceptance e-mail this morning for my dd to attend the 2021 Summer School (providing Covid restrictions allow us to travel!) Has anyone else been accepted for this year? Anyone from previous years have any helpful tips? I found a 2019 thread but it died out before the course so I’m hoping there might be people with some helpful information!
  3. Just had a reply: “Thanks for getting in touch. The JA applications actually do not need a headshot, that is something that was required for the older students, but thank you for checking.“
  4. I emailed on Friday but no reply yet, will report back of/when I hear anything x
  5. I think August, but lots of people from the UK seem to be going for June so I don’t really know what to do! I’m going to leave it a bit longer to submit the forms then have longer to decide! X
  6. That’s a really good way of putting it, a whole programme in 2 weeks!! Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, hopefully it will be great timing to kickstart for the audition process from September. I hope your son has a wonderful experience too🤗
  7. @RachH & @BalletBoysDad we had our acceptance email last night, my dd is so excited! It was definitely the boost she needed at the moment, and I 100% agree with you @BalletBoysDad that it’s great to show them there’s a whole world of ballet out there. She’s had a no from JAs the last two years so it was nice to have an audition success!
  8. I have just emailed them to ask how we do this and will report back when I get a reply😀
  9. @rachh I’m really sorry, I somehow managed to totally miss your reply until now🙈 Thanks so much. It’s funny how we were both waiting on RAD exam results and now we have both applied to ABT, I feel like our dd’s are following similar patterns!😀
  10. That’s brilliant, thank you so much. Hopefully we will hear in the next few days then. Yes I totally agree about value for money. I also like the fact that it’s guaranteed to go ahead on Zoom so when you accept a place, you know exactly what you’re signing up for and aren’t anxiously awaiting news of postponement/cancellation or a disappointing move to Zoom when that was planned all along!
  11. @RachH & @BalletBoysDad congratulations on your dc getting into the ABT Summer Intensive👏 Fabulous news! My dd auditioned last weekend and we are still waiting to hear the outcome. Does the e-mail with the audition result come from the address they sent the initial correspondence from (Summerintensive@abt.org)? I want to ‘favourite’ it will pop up on my phone then I can stop obsessively email checking!🤦🏻‍♀️ lol
  12. I’m sure it won’t matter for auditions and they will accept whatever you have, but if it’s helpful to know, my dd attends the Associate scheme at Tring and they have to wear canvas split soles x
  13. @Lara Eschler, yes they are😀 My dd also goes to CBA so we may even see you there when ‘real life’ classes resume x
  14. Congratulations to all of the dc making it to finals in these unusual times, such fabulous news. @Lara Eschler my dd is in the workshop with your ds at the moment and I was so excited when he shared the news after the lunch break!! If you heard a very excited mum shouting congratulations in the background, that was me😆 X
  15. Ahh @Calea, that’s brilliant! Huge congratulations 🎉What a wait though! x
  16. Haha I can imagine re the food and snacks, probably the biggest bill of them all!! X
  17. @sunrise81this is so helpful, thank you so much! And @cotes du rhone ! thank you for your help too😀 It’s so useful finding out these ‘real life’ examples of what it’s all like, especially if you’re like us and are the first child from our dance school to apply for Vocational school so don’t really have anyone else to talk to about it all.
  18. This is such useful information, thanks so much for sharing. Can I ask, do you know if this is the same for everyone on an MDS at Elmhurst, or does what’s included vary from person to person?
  19. I feel like we need our annual thread for those who are thinking of auditioning to be a Junior Associate with the Royal Ballet School. Applications for 2021 have opened today with the following details on the website: -Applicants are to film their child dancing along to three videos between 10-15 minutes long each. -Also required are the photographs in six dance positions that they normally request, with the addition of a headshot too this year. -Taken from the website: “This year, all applicants will need to submit a video for their preliminary audition. If we are able, we may ask certain students to an in-person second round. However, should circumstances prevent this, we will make decisions based on the first audition, as usual.” - Applications are £55 and the closing date is 11am on Tuesday 23rd March 2021. Good luck to all those thinking of applying x
  20. @spiraboo thank you so much for these details, I have just emailed re the Intermediate class😊 x
  21. Thank you so much @RachH & @Calea. It’s nice to receive some happy news when there’s not much else to be cheerful about at the moment!! @Calea, here’s hoping your results aren’t too far behind x
  22. We (finally!) got exam results back yesterday, after nearly a three month wait and thankfully they were worth it😅 x
  23. Ahh I’m so pleased @RachH, huge congratulations to your DD! 🎉 That’s lovely news! X
  24. @Calea Still nothing here😩 I was actually going to ask if anyone had received any November results, I just kept forgetting! I will report back if/when we hear anything! Have you now had yours from 7th Dec? I hope so as that’s still longer than the usual turnaround! X
  25. I don’t have a direct answer, but I can tell you that my daughter did her RAD exam on 4th Nov and we still haven’t had the results so you’re probably in for a few more weeks yet! I know some teachers who had September exams and it was approx 11.5/12 weeks wait, so with the subsequent lockdowns and restrictions, I’m not expecting anything the end of January for us at the earliest.
