My dd is at WL. They have Saturday morning classes which started after the first term. After class they have some planned activities such as shopping; visiting the markets; the seasonal Christmas markets; The London Eye; the cinema; walks; scavenger hunts. The activities and trips are optional so the child signs up for what they want to do, and they are paid for by parents. There is also a swimming pool which can be used at weekends, and the students might decide to play some football together, or tennis. My dd enjoys being out in the garden with her friends when the weather is nice. They seem to find plenty to do together and when I call to check in on her she is usually happy and busy doing something with her friends :)

Hi, could you possibly tell me what time the Saturday morning classes start at WL please? Thanks v much in advance! It sounds like they have a nice variety of activities for the afternoons☺️

I've been told that they were looking at oversea students after the boy's days last week and that it will be 4 to 5 days into next week before we hear anything .

Does anyone know why they call the international students in on different dates to the UK candidates? On the website it states ‘All successful candidates will attend a final audition in London’ so it can’t be that they’re assessing videos, they must be in person auditions. I don’t see why they’d separate them, surely they would want to be able to compare them to the others?

  3. My dd received the same offer today, although it confused me in the opposite way as we were hoping for a day place and it said about being waitlisted for a boarding place and I was thinking I don’t remember asking for one!! So I think it must be the same letter for all, regardless of what you’ve applied for. From previous years, I seem to remember the suggestion that all are offered waitlist until they know exactly who has accepted places and distances that people will have to travel.

    Congratulations @balletboy8 & @Julsgalaxy on your offers🤗 x

I don’t think they take long with the final results. Y7 girls if they get through semis are on the 3rd & 4th. I assume they have to get through the first day and then get called back for the second day. Similar to Elmhurst which is a bit rubbish if you have to book a hotel for 2 nights but don’t actually need the 2nd night!

On this topic, @SJBallet did you check these dates with RBS after they changed the boys finals in case they changed these too? Boys were 10th & 11th then moved to 7th & 8th, so I wonder if the girls also moved🤷🏻‍♀️ I didn’t think finals would be as early as 3rd March when the last semis aren’t until 18th Feb, and it will probably take them a week or so to get results out so that would only mean one weeks notice. Although this is the first year they’ve had semis so anything is possible I guess!

I’m not 100% sure where I came to this understanding, but I feel I’ve been told results might be just a couple of weeks, as today’s was only boys.

I think there must have been more than one group yesterday as my daughter auditioned in a mixed group of 12 children, roughly half boys and half girls. When we were waiting for our talk from the principal and directors, we did see a group of boys who weren’t in the Tring uniform so I presumed they were also auditioning. I know that Monday & Tuesday next week are audition days, so hopefully they will start sorting results out after that.

  6. I was literally just coming on here to ask the same question! My dd is doing her filmed exam as I type and I was wondering on results time as last year it wasn’t great🥴 She did her last exam on 4th November and didn’t get the result until 25th Jan, so just under three months! Very much hoping they have got used to the system a bit more now and we might not have to wait so long this time🤞

Is this via email or post? 🙂

It was via e-mail. Quite a long one with five attachments; handbook for our centre, boys uniform list, girls uniform list (including where to purchase everything), skirt details and a sheet specifically for our class with times and dates for the year. X

  8. I’m not sure if they send all centres at the same time, but I received my information pack a couple of hours ago so hopefully everyone else will also have received full info today or tomorrow to answer all of those burning questions! X

So well deserved - extremely happy for your DD. Well done. Well, well done everyone. Not yets, please do not be disheartened - it is not a sprint, but marathon. Hard work and perseverance plays a key role.

Thank you so much, that’s so kind of you x

  10. Well, after what feels like the longest wait in the world and after a ‘No’ for years 4 and 5, my dd has received a very unexpected ‘Yes’! It definitely hasn’t sunk in yet even a good few hours later!

To anyone who is reading this today or in the future after receiving a ‘No’, please don’t think this is a full stop in your child’s ballet journey. I absolutely wrote my dd off and have been telling everyone for ages that she ‘just isn’t Royal material’, even refusing to apply for the Spring or Summer intensives because I thought there was absolutely no point if she hadn’t even had a SWL for JAs. Yet she has kept persevering and has worked so incredibly hard throughout lockdown. She hasn’t stopped trying, and whilst it might sound cliche, I honestly think that receiving those no’s along the way have helped her become the dancer she is today. This will sound really weird, and I wouldn’t have thought this at the time, but I’m now actually grateful for those no’s! Keep going and never give up on those dreams! X

I hope PCR tests are a little cheaper now. It’s my DS’s 10th birthday the day before they go on the Sunday. He will be super annoyed if his main birthday present is a PCR test 😂

    Can you imagine😂

I was looking at PCR tests a few weeks ago, the cheapest I could find was £58 although availability and location do seem to vary quite a lot. There is a list of approved providers on the government website. If you need any help when you know exactly what’s required, I’m happy to pm you my findings.
