@Mum of unicorn dancer I was concerned about that aspect too. My daughter didn’t apply last year and therefore we didn’t think she stood a chance, and so ticked for either intensive or company. But actually she has been offered a senior company place this year.

If she’d been offered the intensive place though instead, we’d have gratefully accepted. The opportunities look amazing.

Congratulations- my DD did couple past years in seniors, but not able to do this year. She had great time - hope your DD will enjoy too.

  2. I think this might be due to that this is now  2 years programme - last year was residential (choreography was tested and learnt) and this year is the performance year, so I do suspect that dancers who did last year might more likely be offered a place.

Waiting list here. Anyone any ideas if there is a real chance of getting of the waiting list? (Royal waiting list has never been a succes so far.)

Yes it is - it is much smaller when compared to RBS one - my DD's friend got a place early April couple years ago 🍀

    I

I applied right now for my daughter and I immediately received the payment confirmation and an automatic email from the school with this subject: Accusé de réception du dossier d’inscription – École de Danse de l’Opéra national de Paris

Thank you for letting me know - I have tried to contact them - but no response and I am not able to resubmit until after deadline (not able to get home on time to computer) - so that looks like no chance for my DD this year - oh well.

Hi! We just submitted for Paris Opera Summer Program.  I received a receipt for the fees, but I didn't receive a confirmation of application.  Did anyone else receive a confirmation that their application was received? And if so, how long after you applied did you receive it?  I'm just a little nervous whether it went through.  TIA

I was about to ask same - in 2022 & 2023 confirmation was sent always alongside payment confirmation, but only payment confirmation was sent this year. I do suspect that usually there was a person dedicated to deal with summer school and confirmation email was linked with this and it is not a case this year. I might try to contact them on general summer school email. Good luck everyone 🍀

Last year it was about 10 (calendar) days after the final audition. LCB had a big fundraising event yesterday evening so I would guess that administratively they've also been busy with that (it is a small team). Good luck!

I think it was a bit quicker last year as show was in April and casting was done only couple weeks after finals.

This year the show is in July and casting in early January- so I do suspect early next week, but maybe sooner - fingers crossed and good luck.

Hi my DD is attending an intensive this summer which requires her to have a white tutu practice skirt to wear in performances. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced one with 7 (or thereabouts) layers ?

Capezio one is lovely one reasonably priced

  8. I would be very grateful for advice - my DD is about to take her RAD Intermediate exam and we have the following options: either do recorded exam in June or in person in August in RAD HQ (but she will not be able to practice for few weeks before that). Will the score be impacted by recording? She would love to achieve distinction (her previous exams scores range between 97-90).

    Hello everyone,

Writing this message and hoping that there are others who still are waiting for the last instalment to be paid for the summer intensive at the Paris Opera. The deadline is tomorrow but I still haven't received any e-mail what regards the payment. I've telephoned last week and the lady said that it's gonna be sent the same day, but nothing arrived. I've tried to call all Friday but nobody answered. I'm bit concerned and hope that they do have some technical issues. Is there anyone here that are having same problems what regards the last payment?

I have same problem and tried to contact them too. Hopefully, we will get link soon.

What are other options for an associate programme other than RB for year 7

ENBS now caters for year 8 and 9 kids - application closes on 30.4.

A slight tangent but for those of you who have done ballet boost courses, would you recommend the summer London course for a not quite 8 year old who is fairly mature? Ballet Boost have accepted her but I just wanted to check in on views as to whether it really is suitable given she’ll likely be the youngest.  Her ballet teacher recommended it but always nice to hear from those who have actually been! Thanks!

My DD did it at age of 8 and really enjoyed classes and learned a lot.

Its so hard being on a waiting list isnt it, my dd was on 3 last year and we had the same worries. She got into Yorkshire and ENB in the end which was a massive relief! This year unfortunately again, waiting list for 3! I am probably going to just wait and hope, though I think theres less chance this time round.... theres not many alternative options for her for those weeks, I'd be interested to know if you have found some good alternatives still taking applications though? As we are in London, our back up is currently lots of classes at Pineapple/Danceworks.

    Central or Ballet Boost

Hi moms...just a quick question for the dancers admitted to 2023 Summer Intensive. Did you already receive info about scheduling, accommodation, and so on?

I only received the confirmation on 9th March and after the payment of the first rate...

It was little bit later in May/early June when info was received last year

  14. London MA1 - 17 girls: 10 girls are year 7, 7 girls year 8, London MA2 - only 2 year 8 girls and 14 girls year 9.

It is not clear how many will be assessed out, but if all students stay - there will be about 7-8 spots for year 7, not sure about a year 8 new intake and at least 6-7 spots for year 9

We are going to be on vacation in Prague-does anyone know a store that has a good fitter?  She has narrow feet (Suffolk XX or Capezio a A width)

dtr needs new pointe shoes and thought it would be interesting to see other brands we don’t have back at home (USA).

There is Grishko shop with very experienced fitters and Sansha shop - again very skillful fitters. There are few small independent shops where other brands could be found.

I think the OP is interested in the upper school destinations of the lower school ‘graduates’ of the schools she mentioned, rather than where the upper school students gain employment/end up. YDA often announces via social media the list of schools their students get offers from but there is no breakdown as such. As far as I am aware the other schools do not make public where their lower students go (and certainly no breakdown of how many students end up staying in their upper school/sixth form and other schools).  Happy to be corrected if I’m wrong, but I don’t recall seeing such info publicised. Maybe they do it internally, I don’t know.

    YDA graduation year 2022;

    Boys - RBS, Elmhurst

Girls - ENBS - 4 girls, RCS, Rambert, Central, Elmhurst, Laines

Just talking hypothetically here….the results are in. Unfortunately, it's a no for Whitelodge, Elmhurst, and Tring, for example. So, what's the next step? If vocational training is not an option, what other types of training could be pursued? How many hours per week should be dedicated to training, and how many private and group lessons should be taken? Additionally, what extracurricular activities could help maintain strong technique? Should festivals be put on hold in favor of bigger global competitions? I'm curious about the alternatives available for those who don't attend vocational school in year 7.

I would suggest Ballet Boost and the Academy of Balletic Arts if DC will be attending regular secondary school (classes are afternoon in central London). Other options if you live close to London is Masters of Ballet or Natalia Kremen (again afternoon and weekend classes). If you want to go ahead with vocational secondary and are you near London - YDA is a great choice too.
