  1. I must admit I was pretty clueless as what to wear when I first started but started in shorts or leggings which I still wear, I sometimes use dancewear central website. Also try and start with good ballet shoes as I never knew any better and tried it with the wrong shoes and ended up having to take them off as couldn't do some of the movements. By the time I realised I needed other shoes I had got used to dancing barefooted and found it hard to get used to new ones so still go barefoot. The main thing is to enjoy it as I did feel nervous to start with but love it now.😃
  2. Delighted to say our ballet classes look like returning middle of June. Possibly going to half the classes by doing two sessions so everyone gets to do it. Has anyone else got dates yet about getting back ?
  3. I have only had a blister once since I started ballet thankfully and used Epsom salt bath which helped alot. I also went barefoot at home for a few days and it soon went so I was lucky. I have always done Ballet, and disco in barefeet and thankfully been blister free apart from that one time.

    Happy Xmas

Not been on here for ages but hope you all had a great year. I saw my first ever ballet show this year which was amazing, and I am still enjoying my ballet and dance classes. Cannot believe where the time has gone. Happy xmas and good health to all when it comes round.

    Happy Xmas

Just like to wish everyone a great Xmas, and let us hope 2019 can be a good year all over.
  6. Hi. I have always called them or known them as ballet pumps, even before I did any dancing. ( most of us call them ballet pumps or ballet shoes)
  7. Thank You, Not a fan of pink either and footless tights should work well as I still go barefooted ( cannot get used to pumps). I would have went with bare legs as I do with shorts but the skirt is fairly short 😌 and while I am not too shy I feel tights may be needed.🙂. May wait till after Xmas as might get some bargains😀. xx
  8. Hi, Tried something on similar to this outfit, it is mesh and feels so nice to wear but having got shorts not long ago for ballet I was wondering if it is best to stick to them. Also would I be okay with bare legs if I had a skirt. I am getting the bug now for dance wear. Any advice would be great
  9. Having done our performance I can now see how everyone remembers the first time they performed in front of an audience, whether small or large. Only had around 20 minutes but we all loved it and the small audience were so supportive. And I got to wear my new dance outfit . Fantastic how people can be so supportive without realising it.
  10. Thanks alot. So looking forward to wearing new shorts and top. We are not on for long ( about 20 minutes maybe as it is also an open night for a couple of other classes/ clubs that run) so great idea to have us all on the same day.😉
  11. Pretty well known one, The sugar plum fairy and Pas De Deux is another one, although I never knew that one before.
  12. So excited, got people coming to see our performance next week so have got my first dance shorts and top from my grandmother, same as the picture....early xmas pressie. We all wearing black as no real uniform so been getting lots of practice. We stop for 3 weeks over Xmas and new year so will be good to have people see what we have been doing.
  13. Thanks, I did dislike being barefoot to start with but really do not mind now as I am used to it now. I did feel self conscious about a few things to start with but after getting to know the other girls I really like going now and feel I am improving. I suppose a lot of us feel like this to start but practice can make it better.
  14. I got to try some pumps out from some girls at my class as we were early for class. I must admit that it did feel strange as i have always went barefooted so far and must admit did feel better in barefeet once class started. I had the wrongs ones for sure as the ones i tried were so light
  15. Thanks. I am going to look this weekend as my gran has kindly offered to get pumps and some dance wear for xmas, but will keep in mind.
  16. Oh my goodness😦, I never realised there was so much choices and all the different materials they are made of. Will go to the shop myself and try and get a good idea and then go with my gran nearer Xmas. Also is it best to wear socks with ballet pumps as some of my class do and some dont Just that if i am trying any on in the shop then the thickness of the sock may have a bearing
  17. Thanks for replies. I just have normal feet ( not wide or thin) so would hope most kinds will suit. I am used to doing ballet barefoot now but probably need to get pumps in the long run.
  18. Thanks, just dont know where to start or what to look for really, but there are a couple of dance shops not far away from me so hopefully can get advice there.
  19. Hello. Looking for advice on ballet pumps. Having done some reviews and a make called Bloch keeps showing up. Not sure whether to go with them or try a couple of dance shops. Having done ballet for about 8 weeks now I want to keep going to learn more so my gran has offered to get me new dance wear for Xmas😀.
  20. Not really looked yet, but to be honest after wearing the wrong footwear to start with I am now used to barefeet and it is like a comfort zone as that is the way I have always done the class and wary of changing as i feel i have improved a fair bit. Will start looking nearer Xmas as that would nice to get for a present.
  21. Thanks. I think that once you get to know the other people then it helps. Not got pumps, probably not till Xmas but getting used to doing it in my feet for now. Hopefully get a few bits of dance wear then.
  22. Getting on so much better now that i found out that those pumps were not for ballet. Teacher happy with progress so it does come with practice as people posted. ☺️
  23. Our floor can be slippery so the rule is that socks are not allowed at all, so barefeet for now.
  24. Yes, If I had been more patient and went to a class first then the teacher would have maybe advised me about ballet pumps, but instead I wanted before I went so my mum went out and got pumps what we thought were okay but now I have seen all the proper ballet pumps I know better know so will not wear the original ones for dance anymore. I will have to do classes barefoot whether I like it or not which is my own fault for not wanting to wait and get proper ballet pumps. Not asking or getting new pumps yet as my mum thinks the ones she got are fine. Have done the classes more or less barefoot up until now anyway. Once I got over going barefoot I must admit it did feel better than having the original pumps on so will carry on like that.
  25. Hello, Yes we have a few dance shops not too far away. For just now I will have to do it with my barefeet as got class tomorrow so will go barefoot from the start as I wont even take the original shoes with me now that I know better. I will wait a bit to get proper ballet pumps as my mother did buy the original pumps with best intent and I was pleased when she gave them to me so do not want her to feel bad thinking she got the wrong shoes. I think asking for some dance things at Christmas is a good idea then I could always go to the dance shops to try things on and by that time I can say I could do with new pumps. We don't really wear a uniform though normally black shorts or leggings are worn with black top but the rules to what we wear are not rigid though on visitors/ open day we will try and be the same as much as possible.
