Hello there. I am new to this forum but I was hoping to ask those of you with knowledge of ENBS or other upper schools how it works as my dd(currently in year 10 at a normal secondary) would like to apply to upper schools in ballet after finishing GCSEs but I would love her to be able to continue with a levels some how so she can have her plan B available to apply to uni should it not pan out with a ballet career. Looking on ENBS website it seems there aren't options for online learning to do such thing? And it seems upon graduating they'd still need to do 18 months of learning to get a degree is that right? But CSB and RBS for example skip A levels all together and once finished the 3 years gain a BA? But from what I gather RBS also offers options for students to do online a levels instead if they wanted? I'd love any insight into this from those of you ahead of me. Thanks so much
RBS do offer online A-Levels - they are given fabulous support by the staff throughout the process. The kids are extremely busy with vocational and degree work, so this needs to be considered when choosing.

Good luck to Samira! She has done a wonderful job.
Emma was removed from the Ballet Boost website in Aug and is now solely working for the Royal Ballet School. There is a new leadership team I think - Monique in admin, Leanne Cope/James Butcher and Sarah Kundi are leadership. I think she set this up when her mum passed away so it has actually been like this a while, with Leanne and James in charge, so everything was sorted quite a long time ago.

Tring 5th form students are happy and want to stay there for 6th form, which speaks volumes and the competition for places is huge (because of pupils wanting to join from other vocational schools). The dance faculty changed a couple of years ago and I would honestly say that looking at past graduate destinations doesn't help you understand the current situation. Please take the time to look up the current teaching faculty and their experience (and connections!) I would choose Tring every time for dance and academics. Please DM if you would like extra information.

Might be best to phone the school and ask. It is wonderful school with an amazing faculty. My daughter has been there for four years and I guarantee it is worth the wait!

Thank you everyone

I would think a quick search of UCAS is a good starting point. Although not exhaustive - Guildhall (not ballet) is not part of UCAS but its pupils get full degree funding. And yes, to confirm that Central, RCS and Rambert are all degree courses that take students from 16, with GCSEs (or equivalent) as the academic entry level. I'm sure there are others. Some degree institutions also offer extremely generous bursaries on top of the student funding.
Thank you

As the course is accredited by Roehampton I would assume they would know - maybe ask them what happens.
Is this at Royal? Many thanks

That’s incorrect my dd is at vocational school, started at 16 doing a BA ballet degree and has full degree funding via student finance, you do not need to be 18 they just need to be studying a degree that is recognised for student funding. Obviously not all upper schools offer a degree.
HTH
Thank you, how do you find out which vocational schools are eligible?

From my research, no they can’t apply fur a uni route funding as the pupils are too young. Have to be over 18 which we all know at the time of starting US pupils are 16/17yrs. Parents can’t apply on their behalf either. Parents would have to seek independent loans from a reputable loan company but obviously that then holds the usual repayment arrangements as any loan would be unlike student loans.
It is incredibly hard. Try your local authority for any Bursaries available in your area for some additional support.Thank you
