Hello I am very new to all this my DS is attending the summer school and is exceptionally nervous to the point I am not sure he will go he is not boarding as he isn’t confident enough to do so so I am staying in Birmingham with him. I know he will be in the minority but if any other boys are there could they get in touch? He gets on so well with girls to so I hope they mix with him aswell 🙁

Hi, my ds is 11 and boarding and would enjoy getting in touch. Feel free to message me privately and I can give you his details.

Received it this afternoon too. Just curious if there is more than one boys group and more than one girls group during week 1. I can see my DS is in ‘Blue Boys’ and ‘Windsor Dorm’, but wondered if there are other boys groups and other boys dorms.

    same here too

I paid for the PCR (way too much) as I was also worried about the time frame (initially they needed to be done no less than 72 hours prior to arrival and it was Easter weekend, then they changed to 5 days).   The only way to get an NHS PCR test was to say the child has symptoms. They might just go with lateral flow tests this time for Students based in the UK. We might know more next week?

I meant no more than 72 hours.

Just a practical query for anyone who attended spring intensives.... what covid testing was required for attendance? If they (inevitably) push back the lifting of covid restrictions from 21st June to at least the 20th July, the first week register on the 18th July to start on the 19th. Will any paid for testing be required?

Has everyone received a reply yet? We haven’t anything at all yet (except email receipt of application) but not sure if they’re doing acceptances first.  Any ideas? Many thanks x

For my ds, we received the email on Thursday and we have one week to confirm by playing the deposit. Maybe you could email next week if you have not heard yet. I heard of a few people who can non longer attend as well..

My DD has been to both junior and senior summer schools in the past and is going again this year. The groups are usually based on age firstly, especially if not known to the school previously, then ability from what we’ve seen in the past

Are the boys and girls in the same group? Thanks

Thank you so much! That's really helpful. Sounds like we would probably have heard by now if she had a place from the waiting list, then. Never mind. At least I can go ahead and book something else with confidence.

    Below are the cancellation policies:

Days before the date of event (Summer Intensive start date 19th July) that notice of cancellation is received

    • 60 days or more (10th May - May 20th) - 90% refund of the fees. A 10% handling fee will be retained by the School
    • 59-30 days (May 21st - June 19th) - 50% refund of fees
    • 29-21 days (June 20th – June 28th) - 30% refund of fees
    • 20 days or less (after June 29th) - We regret that no refund can be made

Hello - just wondering if anyone with a place on the Summer intensive can please help out with any info re payment/confimring a place. Is there a deadline coming up soon for paying the balance for the course? Situation is that my daughter is on the waiting list for the week of the 19 July, but if she doesn't end up getting a place, she's keen to go to another course in the summer. Finances don't permit me to book anything else until I'm sure that she doesn't have a place, but I'm getting worried that we might miss the boat and lose out if I don't book something soon! I just thought that maybe if there was a deadline for payment, I could wait until a few days past that and then take the plunge with booking another course.

Thank you anyone for any insights 😀

Hi, the deadline for payment was May 17th by 5PM.

Great that he enjoyed it! Must have been a great experience given last summer’s in-person cancellations.

It will certainly be a test of my DS’s stamina, as he’s done daily classes, but never a full week of full time dance. I imagine a lot of complaining about achey feet when his time comes 😂

Do you think your DS was in the only mixed group/bubble with boys in? And all the other groups were girls? Very few boys then in the grand scheme of things if that’s the case...

There was a group with older boys, not sure if they mixed with older girls or not. My ds was extremely tired, a combination of the dancing and maybe lack of sleep, and excitement of it all, lol. Not a hint of homesickness though,

Yes, getting information out of my DS can be either easy, or like getting blood out of a stone (and every possibility in between) 😂

Between those openly sharing results on this forum and those that share things on social media, I did get the very fuzzy impression that there were a modest number of Y5s offered places, maybe more to Y6s, and as you mention, you could still be in Y7 and fit into this age bracket.

If your DS’s recollection is one ‘bubble’, I wonder how many bubbles there were that week.

    Purely idle curiosity.

My ds thinks that there were 6 different colour groups and 5 bubbles. One of the groups with some year 6 girls did not mix with boys while ds's bubble was a mix of boys and girls. Most boys were year 6, a couple were year 5 and and 2-3 were year 7.

I have spoken to our GP Practice Manager this morning about the Health Form and have made an in person appointment for my DD to complete.  So it is possible there is a charge though.  Xx

    That's great to hear. xx

Is this for RBS too?  I thought you’d accepted WL?

I was just thinking maybe it would be a good idea to have a check-up before starting, I get a bit anxious about health stuff that is why I wanted to know more about the physio checks too. I was surprised by the details of the questionnaires and was wondering whether it would affect an offer if any problems were found. Alo, my dc haven't see a doctor in ages. RBS has not asked for anything else so far.

  14. Hi Everyone, I was just wondering about the medical form for Year 7 entry, is that something a regular NHS GP would do, or is a private GP needed? Has anyone booked this already? It just seems quite detailed questionnaire requiring urine samples as well.?

    Thanks xx
