She is wanting to look at vocational but perhaps one that is fairly local to us. She currently does all genre of classes. Did your local school offer the 6 hours or did you have to go to an additional school or privates?

Majority at same school (she was doing G5 and Int F group classes plus 1:1s) and an online associate programme as well as JAs.

  2. I guess it depends on her aims for the year ahead - does she dance just for the love of it, is she thinking of a career in dance and training locally for now until older, does she want to pass any milestone exams this academic year or is she auditioning for vocational school for next September? There will be lots of different answers to this, but in year 6 my daughter did between 6-8 hrs of ballet per week as lessons (including associates), 2 hrs of pilates/conditioning and then often a couple of hours of rehearsals on a Sunday depending on what performances she was in at the time. This was a mix of free work and syllabus and she did her RAD G5 and Int F exams during year 6. She’s off to vocational school in September. So some kids will be doing this much, some much less, similar or less than what your daughter does now and some more, particularly if they take part in festivals (which my daughter didn’t do).

  3. For sale - two new style JA leotards and belts in very good condition with no marks or damage- age 7-8 and 9-10. These are last year’s model so come up large - the 7-8 fit my 11 year old petite dancer perfectly (she’s 140cm). Also character skirt in very good condition,

waist 52cm, length 47cm. Happy to sell whole bundle for £30 including postage or separately if preferred at £10 per leotard and £15 for the skirt. Message me for photos.

  5. The Travelodge London Battersea is literally a minute’s walk from RAD HQ and reasonably priced - it’s not the most glamorous but should be fine! Clapham Junction station is around a 15 minute walk for mainline trains and there are plenty of buses that run to Victoria and central London.

  6. My daughter really enjoyed the online associates in year 5 - and I think it definitely helped her to be successful in her audition for JAs in year 6. They do get individual corrections and I do suspect that they may get ‘noticed’ during the classes, although can’t be sure of that! We made a real effort for my daughter to be present for the vast majority of classes (she had to miss a couple for ballet exams etc).

  8. Applications for Mids are usually open Sept-Oct with auditions Jan-Feb. Our whole JA class were advised to tick the box on the application form for both Mids and full time training as they would then get seen at one or two additional auditions as well as the preliminary audition (which is the only audition for mids but the first of three (for year 7 girls) for full time training) - these take place in Feb/March. I know some children who got through to Mids just by doing that first audition but it seems like the majority of places went to those who were at finals/semi-finals. The difficulty is if you get to finals but don’t want the place full time if offered, which happened to a number of children applying for year 7 this year! I wonder if RBS might change things on the back of this?

Hi my DD has just been offered a yr 4 place at the Eastleigh centre. She was on the short wait list with the offer online programme, so I am beyond excited that a place has become available for her and can't wait to pick up her from school to break the news.

And she’ll have the most amazing teacher and experience in Eastleigh - congratulations!

  10. I guess everyone has different family circumstances and ways of coping at auditions. I also know of some children this year who had decided on Tring then changed their minds at Elmhurst finals. I think it’s important to remember that these are 10 or 11 year old children that are being discussed in an open forum. And the poster above was clear that it was this year they were talking about when mentioning that a child had shared their three offers.

  11. If you’re referring to my DD, she was offered a Tring place back in November after the first audition. She went to Elmhurst finals on 8th and 9th March and White Lodge on 10th. She didn’t attend Tring funding audition. Not sure what we were supposed to do differently? Although Elmhurst finals were first, the results came out last.

  12. I spoke to Rachal at the auditions - she said that the meeting to allocate places (both lower and upper school) was happening on Tues 21st (yesterday) and she'd do her very best to get them all out as soon as possible after that, and was hoping to get them all out by this Friday if she could.

What is the deadline for girls having to accept/decline WL? I'm sure I saw on an Instagram post that it is 23rd March. If so, it seems that the deadline is before Tring funding and Elmhurst results are out?

    It is 23rd March.
