  1. Recently I have purchased plastic wallets, which store 90 DVD's at a time and occupy minimal space, but I cant bring myself to dispose of the original cases and booklets, so they have gone back into the shed in their boxes. When I get time I will catalogue them as per wallet number. But thanks for the tip, I hadn't considered frost damage, just ease of access, but it sounds a sensible precaution. I am sure that there will be many of us with similar issues, so it is good to discuss issues and potential solutions.
  2. The Two Pigeons, in Cinema, was the first time I had seen Fumi Kaneko. As I recall, she stood in at short notice for Laura Morera, as the Gypsy and was very good. I also confused it at the time with the Three Pigeons, which used to be a pub on the Portsmouth Road.
  3. Good, it looks like you got it working again.
  4. At the risk of being obvious, have you carried out a factory reset. Press the Functions menu button on the remote control, and when the menu appears, select Others and press OK. Then select Set Up and press OK. Select To Others and press the right hand arrow on the circle pad. Then select Initialize and press OK. Wait for it to complete tuning in. Failing that, try a reboot. Unplug your DVR from the power socket for a few minutes, until all power has drained. Then plug in the power plug again and switch on, Maybe the channels will need retuning, and try again.
  5. Yes, rarely after 6:30 am GMT. Not an early riser, so I always record them, it will be a while after when I find out what they finally broadcast. My guess is they don't actually know which version it is.
  6. And one of them says Nunez, Osipova and Munagirov.
  7. I have just found a different Sky Arts Schedule which says that it is the Mariinsky version starring Viktoria Tereshina, another saying it is the POB and two others agreeing that it is Royal Ballet. So I will wait and see what shows up ???
  8. Sky Arts are showing Royal Ballet 'La Bayadere' on Saturday 19th August at 6:10 am GMT. the version with Rojo, Acosta and Nunez.
  9. I should have suggested a link to the thread which said, 'rare and out of stock releases at reasonable or bargain prices.' I will keep a look out !
  10. I have also built a sizeable collection and recently added 'Like Water for Chocolate' and 'Coppel-A.I'. Unfortunately when new recording like these arrive, something now has to go to make space in my cabinets. I am now storing older and less popular recording in boxes on shelves in the garden shed and catalogued under 'Garden Shed'. Agreed, there are not so many new releases of late but a few out of print and some old rare gems turn up occasionally, recently picked up Houston Ballet 'Ghost Dances' at a reasonable price. Maybe we could add to this thread 'Rare and out of print releases'. Remember, vinyl has made a comeback and the size of storage required for vinyl was a bigger issue than the compact disc version and being positive it has every chance of a return because of its convenience, hopefully when pandemic and wars fade away. So it is not yet time to despair and we must try to remain positive.
  11. I can still watch it via your link, but cant get it on YouTube directly.
  12. Sky Arts have come up with a couple of events, Sun 30th July at 7:15 am GMT - Bejart - Queen Ballet for life Mon 31st July at 600 am GMT - Romeo & Juliet - Ural Opera Ballet
  13. Listed by several distributors as being released today on DVD & Blu-ray is Ballet Monte Carlo, Jean-Christophe Maillot: COPPEL-I.A. Apparently this takes the doll to the stage of A.I. in a modern production. ?
  14. The Royal Ballet's Liverpudlian principle dancer and his fellow Principle dancer Mayara Magri perform his own choreography at St George's Hall Liverpool in Dance Passion Liverpool - Find the Feeling, currently streaming on BBC Iplayer.
  15. Sat 15th July Sky Arts 'English National Ballet in Paris' 6:00 am. GMT Documentary following ENB as the Company prepares for its visit to the Paris Opera House for performances of Le Corsaire.
  16. Be careful in New York if they offer you Quail in Rose Petal sauce, it appears to have strange effects. I make sure that I stick to the British traditional Fish & Chips when out, they are quite safe.
  17. When I saw this ballet streamed, I hadn't read the synopsis previously and had difficulty in understanding what was happening. I have now read the book and seen the restored film on blu-ray and hence better prepared for the ballet release on disc, without it being any more credible. I enjoyed the music and dancing though.
  18. It is now listed for pre order on Amazon.com, for same release date as UK.
