  1. Are you on commission? 😂 ( Good to know the DaDa status though)
  2. Worn a couple of times. £10 Inc postage. Grishko.
  3. DD is there. We have found the ballet teaching and faculty to be excellent and varied with regular performance opportunities too. She is very happy and enjoys the independence of living in Edinburgh ; she's adapted remarkably well considering she's only 16 and hundreds of miles from home. The school promotes a sense of belonging and Peter Schaufuss is actively involved.
  4. Have you tried @devotedtodance? Insta or Facebook. He has a wide range of stock.
  5. DD has changed models so now have a pair of these, brand new. Size 5C. £25 inc P&P ono
  6. Was it cheaper through Central or direct with AXA?
  7. Thanks. I've looked through these. All cover seems to require the insured to be 18+ though. I don't have private cover myself so can't add DD on to it. So I guess my question is, can you insure a 16 year old? And if so, which companies offer this?
  8. Please could you share recommendations for upper school health insurance? Thanks in advance
  9. Good luck with choosing and with the SB audition. Lucky girl to have a choice! X
  10. Things to consider: Class size Who will be teaching? Studios/facilities What will she get from it that she won't get in her regular training? Is reputation important to you or your DD? My DD danced for many years as an associate with a small ballet company who don't have the 'big name' reputation and received individual attention, regular pas de deux training and experience with professional dancers and regular performance experience on stage. Her confidence and love of dance grew immeasurably. Invaluable.
  11. We would love to make contact with anyone who is starting EFBS full time in September!
  12. Absolutely, sounds like a fantastic opportunity. Is it open to non-vocational 15 Yr olds who will be embarking on their vocational journey in September 2021?
  13. Excellent condition. £15 +p&p
  14. We use the school email system so it's not personal email addresses that we're using. All emails are tracked and recorded. It's no different to the individual phonecalls we're being asked to make. Unfortunately our school have made the decision that we can't live video link even with 2 members of staff present, (although obviously this would have its own staffing issues anyway!). It's a very difficult time for teachers who have trained and developed their own pedagogy over so many years and I can assure you that we are all desperate to get back to face to face teaching, when it is safe to do so.
  15. Absolutely, Peony. I'm a teacher in a state secondary school and we have been instructed by the Head not to teach by live video for safeguarding reasons. As a teacher of Performing Arts, I would love to be able to teach my kids in a Zoom class because they would really benefit from this 'practical' work and the feedback I could provide, but alas, it has been vetoed. We can upload videos to teach, have email exchanges with individual students and we must provide individual feedback for each piece of work submitted. Work also has to be provided weekly for students without Internet access. I also telephone each of my tutees weekly for a chat. I'm also in telephone contact with parents who request this too. It's not ideal and I am hugely disappointed for my year10 DD and year 11 DS who have both had their worlds turned upside down. However, as a teacher with my own kids at the same school, I do feel that the school has kept the safety of both the staff and students at the forefront of their planning. This is a very difficult time, and I have seen first hand the anxiety and fear of those children of keyworkers (and the keyworkers themselves) who do have to come to school for childcare every day because they have no other choice. Perhaps a mass writing to our MPs would have an impact, although I fear not. Adapting to distance teaching has not been easy, and has been made harder for everyone by the vast differences in technology resources in individual households. I certainly fear for my DD next year who will be auditioning for post 16 vocational schools as we have no idea of the future landscape of teaching and learning in either mainstream schools or vocational and specialist colleges. So, I guess I wanted to chip in with my two pennies to say, be kind to the teachers. We are doing our very best within the constraints of rules imposed by individual head teachers, the science and the government

  18. Not just vocational students of course! DD has had the dining room to herself for the last 5 weeks since her academic and dance schools closed. As it's dragging on so long, the carpet is now coming up in the bedroom to allow full use of her barre and allow us use of a dining table again!
  19. It's new to the list this year.
  20. both on insta: Adam Scott and Graeme Pickering have both piqued DD's enthusiasm. Also Hannah Martin of BBC Greatest Dancer choreographs and teaches beautiful routines.
  21. @ponklemum see info above in case you haven't found the DVD yet x
  22. DD has a barre in her room but is currently using the dining room (lino floor) for online classes whilst in lock down and is using an adjustable cheapy clothes rail from Argos in lieu of a barre.
  23. We were in this situation a few years ago and DD's original teacher positively encouraged her to train elsewhere in a different method (she now does Cecchetti and RAD). We haven't stopped classes with her original teacher and still feel incredibly loyal- teacher supports DD's plans to train post 16 and feels that experiencing different methods and teachers is hugely important.
