  1. Congratulations to all who have gained places at Central for the next part of your dance journey. My daughter is a current Year 1 student there and loving every minute. I would advise you book accommodation asap as rooms go fast. We rebooked for 2019/20 last November! Most people seem to live at Plaza, St John St or Herbal Hill Studios so there's always someone to travel with. We have not been given a definite date for the move to Paris Gardens though which may affect your decisions. Good luck everyone. It's a stressful time but this forum is great for putting minds at rest!
  2. I think there were 2 groups for Finals plus separate one for boys so a lot of dancers to see. You were placed in the studio in number order but the panel would have had a clear view of all. My dd was at Adv 1 level and said it was fine. No more difficult than prelims. Current Year 1 group has 27 girls, 7 boys and quite a few were offered places from waiting list. They are a mix of vocational and non vocational, all shapes and sizes. I don't think Central has a particular 'look' or style. They value all their dancers and take those that have the potential to become professionals. Good luck to your dc. I hope they enjoy the day. They've done exceptionally well to get this far.
  3. Hi. Just looking for Spanish shoes size UK 6 (39). Black leather, heel height approx 6cm with leather strap and buckle fastening, nails in toe and heel. They are part of Central School of Ballet's first year uniform and like an Osuna student shoe from Elmundo Flamenco website. Thanks
  4. My dd attended Northern Associates and the majority of kids used a piece of white fabric with 1st name written on with marker pen. Can then be amended with surname initial if there's more than one with the same name. Nothing fancy just easily visible to the teacher.
  5. Such sad news. My daughter attended Malvern Ballet Seminars and Opes with the Pickfords. A lovely family, kind and thoughtful teachers. He inspired many. Sincere condolences to Olivia and Polly and all those whose lives he touched x
  6. Dd has eventually made her decision and accepted her offer from Central so we are now looking at accommodation. I believe a lot of students stay at Liberty Living. Are there any forum members thinking of Liberty House which seems the closest to the school? All require sharing. Any insights into how you find a like minded roomie? I am quite stressed at the prospect of sorting this out as it's so important to get it right!
  7. Thanks for that amazing info and well done to your son in his career so far x
  8. Thank you for offering your insight into RCS. What is your DS doing now? Did he get performance opportunities with Scottish Ballet? There seem to be far fewer boys in each class. How do they organise pas de deux partnering ? I could go on and on!
  9. That's interesting to hear. We have to choose between Central and RCS. DDs teacher feels she should be in London and have a varied course to optimise job opportunities while DD has always been keen to go down a mainly classical route. I got the feeling she'd enjoy the RCS course more and have a better chance of working with a ballet company there. How has your DD found it?
  10. Congrats stressedbeyondbelief we have a yes too x
  11. Yes Meadowblythe RCS did come across as a v good school with excellent facilities and a fantastic relationship with Scottish Ballet. I will try to be patient!
  12. I totally agree BlueLou. They are a relatively new course, less well known but had an excellent Final/open day that has really swayed us. You would have thought they would be working harder than the other schools to get the best students and increase their reputation.
  13. That's the longest I've heard of! Most others have been within a few days. Surely they know people will potentially have offers elsewhere?!
  14. 14 days so next Wednesday I think
  15. We're still waiting for RCS results too. I suppose with Bank Holiday it's only been 3 working days. Hope it's soon as we need to reply to Central's offer asap
  16. No not there! Emailed school admissions officer and she's now on maternity leave so will have to try to phone although not sure when I'll get hold of anyone over Easter. Stressful time ahead!
  17. Thank you amos73. I'd better get in touch with them!
  18. Hi all. New to the forum. Just wondering if anyone has had results from ENBS Finals two weeks ago? All previous communication has been via email but we've received nothing yet.
