  1. Thanks - no chocolate either I m afraid and only drinks out of paraben free/chemical free drinking bottles .... Am really struggling
  2. Thankyou. I m not sure she wears much jewellery I will have to do some digging I think. Def doesn't drink and no jewellery at dance.
  3. DD had a very difficult year last year and nearly missed out on associates because of her teacher. For various reasons we moved school and her new place is amazing. She is so happy and being challenged appropriately. The teacher is fantastic with her and very genuine. We would like to get her something thoughtful just to say thankyou. Anyone any thoughts?
  4. Oh no!!! Can you not return? I didn't check returns policy as prices were so low not worth posting. Hope works out ok
  5. My DD saw this and wanted to do the same. Unfortunately I don't think she d pass as 16 given she's only 10!
  6. No problem at all. DD has now looked on the site and I have a hugeeeeee list to order this evening 😁
  7. New so danca stretch white canvas ballet shoes uk 2.5 but very snug fit so more a 2. Too late to return to shop £6 Inc postage. Pics too big to upload
  8. I just happened to be ordering a new leotard - DD version of an Easter egg! Firstly - I found Sansha UK have big sales and over 150 items for £2 including jazz trainers clothes etc... time to get some early presents at those prices! Secondly as dd starts performing arts school in sept - any recommended items as must haves??? In addition to basic uniform..
  9. Oh no. Rosina is usually quite anti social media during classes, I know was happy for pics after session so I imagine she wasn't aware. And I agree parents are not always aware of others' situations and so could be putting other children at risk - not just about children who are in safeguarding protection and need to be off media but I am very careful about any pics of my child dressed in dance wear and not always looking very ladylike with legs in the air etc. It's about what people these attract and their motives for viewing.
  10. Pointe toes - my DD came out of the workshop absolutely buzzing. Such a positive experience and she learnt alot Inc her quadruple - some of it helped her fouettes too ! Hope your dd enjoys it.
  11. Yes Anna like I said the techniques tips may cross over - my DD has improved her jazz and ballet pirouettes as a result of these workshops - Rosina works on posture, core, hip alignment, supporting leg and feet, arms as well as the jazz pirouette position. It may not help but the OP was asking for advice so I was sharing my DD experience.
  12. My dd is only 10 and we won't let her do pirouettes en pointe but she had been consistently able to do a triple last year and seemed stuck at that. She attended Rosina Andrews workshop and within the first 30 minutes was able to nail a quadruple. She can now do 6. Rosina has a book and uses the science of pirouettes to help find where you need help. Dd highly recommends and am sure though this is jazz position alot of the basics of the positioning cross over??
  13. The current terminology advises of MAGT - encompassing those More Able, as well as the Gifted and Talented. As dance/drama comes under the arts - students requesting to be on the schools register fall under G&T. I guess the real issue is the differing perceptions of success in fulfilling potential and the value we individually or school establishments place on the value of the arts vs academia ( not that these are exclusive of each other)
  14. Completely agree hoglett Infact so does the government where the arts and supporting talent in these ( via absence if required) is clearly stated in all educational gifted and talented documentation/policies. Holistic approaches to education is the way we prepare a well rounded society for the future
  15. Aw I m glad hes moving on to a school with like minded peers ( I read your post above). Dd is off to a performing arts school too and though doesn't have any social or academic difficulties at school now, is really looking forward to being surrounded by others who randomly break out in song, tap under the table and jete down corridors.
  16. Get Dc on g&t register asap - just send in an email stating why dc should be and what you envisage will be required from the school to support this ie time authorised for exams/auditions/opportunities etc ! I provide school with updates via email for Dd file -exam certificates/audition updates etc. We often find we have different school holidays to most places so if Dd didn't get time off she would have missed alot of opportunities.
  17. Havent read all posts but as a school govenor and parent of Dd who regularly has auditions/exams/ etc during normal school hours first thing you need to ensure is that dc are on the gifted and talented register for the school. They are required by Lea and ofsted to document and evidence how they support dc who are gifted and talented. Anything under this remit will be authorised educated off siten
  18. My Dd is 10 (11 in June) and starts performing arts school in September. She does: grade 5 ballet, grade 5 tap and grade 5 modern, conditioning /flexibility, jazz all 1hr each per week. Pointe class - 30 mins/week Barefoot ballet and pbt - 45 min/week 1.5 hr private lessons - works on particular techniques Then 1hr45 Elmhurst JA a week Topped off by any workshops/intensives etc she can get us to pay for! Dd would dance all evening every day but we moved schools a while back to re focus on smaller classes and a balance between reigniting the love of dance and being challenged We find 1:1 are great if you find a good teacher who can work on strengths and areas for improvement.
  19. Hi kcoom75 My Dd was successful in south JA but we couldnt commit to monthly Swindon visit. Dd did mids audition in Halifax last year but was too young and was told Def to return this year. Dd said the audition included grade 4+ steps learnt as combinations and then you perform a 1minute solo. Its in Halifax now at the Dance Mill. As Dd was successful we got all the info - prices etc if you want to Dm me. Dd loves tap attack and does the summer intensives too - there were some there last year at the intensive who were auditioning as they couldnt make the original session.
  20. My Dd is an Elmhurst JA and does festivals. We missed one due to a national final and spoke directly to the dance teacher rather than via admin. This was fine given I gave plenty of notice as a one off.
  21. Hi We ve had a mishap with ours. Does anybody have one aged 8-10 before I buy another.
  22. Your 1 yr top up will be permitted the rules are you can't do course at same level you already have. PGCE wise - you can do the Cert Ed ( having a level 3 in your chosen subject area) a Professional graduate cert ed ( for those without a degree but 2yr equivalent so diploma/foundation degree, or standard pgce. All of these are funded through Initial Teacher Training (ITT). In addition to ITT you can now access funding for masters (£10k loan) Hope that helps.
  23. Thanks dancing shoes - did you ever get any feedback. Dd thrives on correction so would love any feedback available.
  24. Hi all Dd is new to elmhurst JA they have been observed by Denise in class - just wondered if this is standard? How often it happens and if we re likely to get feedback from her observation.
