  1. Online warehouse part she referred to as London. No click and collect available and she was unable to say if they would still be operating by this Friday.
  2. Hi. I spoke with them on Tuesday as wanted to order a leotard Hull is closed. London will be closing but they are not sure when
  3. I am not saying she will continue with her current hours. Dd did not want to board so this was our comprimise. 20 hours at school plus a max of 5-6 for grades and tap will be the limit.
  4. Its a non boarding performing arts secondary school - no Tap Dance or grade work. Whilst it will give Dd the opportunity to further develop singing/acting (included in the quoted hours) she would also like to do her intermediate/advanced.
  5. I have a dress maker. She does wardrobe for quite a few theatres if you get stuck and dont want to pay a fortune some custom made ones cost
  6. I handtacked my dd one with black hand stitching thread (super strong) as she needed a pancake look and I refused to let her practice in the real one! I found a video online different to the links above where u tack in a straight line looping back on yourself from the shortest layer out to second longest just catching the under layer as you go. It was super easy.
  7. I have seen two timetables for myself All you have to do for actual proof is look through instagram. There are many dancers /teachers that love to say how many hours the kids have been hammering away at whatever class.
  8. I know of two schools with extremely good reputations in the dance world where it is the "norm" to dance 4-8 every day plus weekend Associates and weekend classes... 25+ hours a week as a junior. My dd is 10 and dances 14 hours a week plus comps and Associates but in September will attend vocational school and I will be looking at whether to reduce external classes as will be doing 20 hrs at school. I agree though, as a parent you need to take responsibility for your childs schedule - I insist Dd has 2 evenings off dance classes and not all holidays are full of workshops /conventions. Unfortunately it appears the commercialism of how popular you are on social media/where you're seen doing tricks/who you ve had a photoshoot with is becoming more important than your dance facility and talent.
  9. My dd is an Elmhurst JA. Their uniform is pink full sole stretch satin ballet shoes - I would go full sole.
  10. I have one under 18 that would be interested if you open this out. Also my mum is a costume designer for theatres - I will pass this onto her and if Dd was attending audition wise I would happily chaperone the audition.
  11. No not tried eyelash glue but I ll give it a go thanks
  12. I think op had mentioned had asked about this but not able to find anyone. I certainly dont fall for the commercialism of alot of the dance world but credit where credit is due Rosina has helped my dd in her technique.
  13. If you contact Rosina via email she will let you know of any open workshops up in this area - you could ask if possible to do a quick 15 minute surgery with her after session ( she does these at move it for ÂŁ5 for 5 minutes I think) Dd did one in Halifax last summer. Or they have launched a new set of training courses - theres one in Preston towards end of the year maybe you could tag a quick private onto that? I m sorry my knowledge of dance is fairly limited. If its ballet ones your Dd struggles with but can do jazz ones I d think maybe due to needing to strengthen muscles in turnout??? Other than that the tip my dd uses is balance foam yoga block on ledge of raised leg ( whilst strengthening for tge position not whilst turning) and holding on to one with arms - also tells herself shes going to do one more - so says to herself I m going to do a quad and more often than not can secure a triple using this. Sorry not much help. I thought might be balance/inner ear issue but I m guessing if can do jazz ones then that's not the case.
  14. Pictures I would highly recommend getting in touch with Rosina Andrews and asking for workshop info or 1:1. Yeah she mainly does jazz but is fab at breaking down the mechanics of the movement. She has books out too. My dd found a wobble board helped with core strength and foot strength - legs in ballet prep pirouette position and a turn board helped with spotting and control of arms to help stability. https://www.rosinaandrews.co.uk/pirouettesurgery
  15. Hi all. Odd one but - Dd has a new comp routine and teacher wants face lace down one side. So I ordered the official one. Its great - silicone type material that sticks to skin but Dd danced in it and it fell off. Wondered if anyone on here has used liquid latex face paint with a stencil Before? And if so did it work?? I really need something that I can apply over full face of make up that I can remove relatively quickly... Open to suggestions..
  16. My Dd has also had this 'perform' more when younger. Dd was told to watch you tube - srarch novice dancers and professional dancers and see which was more interesting to watch - then asked to say why Dd has never been a show off but has learnt that posture and emitting confidence to whoever is watching is key - not always a cheesy smile but getting your eyes to show you really enjoy what you re doing. Good luck 🍀
  17. My Dd finished JA thankfully in June and starts performing arts secondary school sept. We had said not taking on anything else while she settles into school but Dd missed last time we were able to do as was 3 days off being minimum age for audition. I guess the only thing would be I know our JA didnt start til mid Sept so the first rehearsal weekend might at least be ok??
  18. Thanks pointetoes thats helpful to know. Wouldnt want to make her feel sickly.
  19. Thanks Tatasmum. I was dreading them looking at grade 6 on her form ( takes grade 5 end april) and her being told to dance with those much older
  20. Hi for those who have been to the audition, what colour leotard did you wear and what style? DD will be attending Buxton audition. Also will she Def stay in with Junior group regardless of grade? Shes 10 grade 5 and just started learning grade 6 too. Dd will have taken grade 5 before audition.
  21. Sorry I ve been on holiday My parcel arrived within 5 days. So sorry for all those that had trouble - if I d known they were likely to mess people about I wouldnt have shared .
