Just regretfully turned down a Year 7 girl's MA place in London.  Fingers crossed for the SWL! It would be lovely to think of someone in this community benefiting. 🙂

My daughter has just been offered a place off the waitlist for Mid Associates Year 7 London. A thrilled daughter! So yes, someone has benefited and truly grateful! 🥰

Yes that’s so true!! I saw on here first that the finals results were out 🤣

Is it usually around 14 boys and 14 girls in the class? I know they don’t take a certain number for the sake of it but around this do we think? X

Current Year 7 is 15 Boys and 15 Girls

I mean really RBS should be sending us the Lateral

flow tests. To expect us to pay for one is a bit much. You do the test then input the result into the government website and they text you your result. So in theory you could lie and say it was negative and they text you with a negative result. It’s all a bit dodgy and a lot of trust is involved

You have to put in a series of letters and numbers which are on the testing kit when logging your results. I have to test twice a week and each test has different serial numbers for when you log your results each time on the gov website.

  4. It really is your own personal decision when deciding on schools. We went through it all last year and I heard negative stories about some schools. If we had listened to these we wouldn't of let our DC go anywhere. We made our own decisions from our audition visits and talks and also where our DC wanted to go which I think is hugely important, not just the parents making the decisions. My child knew about the positive and negatives of school choices. So far in our short time of vocational training it has been the best decision we made as a family for our DC and they are extremely happy. It is hard work and not for every child at 11 years old leaving home, but this environment is totally right for us at the moment. So please don't be put off by stories you hear, there are positive stories out there too of vocational training at 11.

I was wondering the same @BalletBoysDad because we are also Birmingham group 4.

Has anyone from later groups had video emails yet or is it still only group 1? How long do they give you between the email arriving and submission deadline? I have to go away for a week in September and sods law the email will arrive then!

London had the email on the 12th Aug and has to be submitted my 1st September. X

Hello all. Newbie mum here for a year 6 JA come September.

A question-do we still have to apply for WL like non-JA’s or is it assumed that all JA’s will want to apply and so preliminary assessments are done in class?

Everyone applies in the same way online. You can apply for White Lodge, Mids, or Both. It does ask if you are a JA on the form. Everyone has to attend the preliminary auditions. Then onto finals at White Lodge if chosen. X

Thank you so much, that’s really valuable info! My son currently has a boys at Central School of Ballet on a Friday, he loves it and then boys all have a great rapport with their teacher. Sadly, that’s one of the classes that we’re going to have to leave when we move. I didn’t realise that Tring CBA boys train separately. That’s really interesting. Of course, we’re taking nothing for granted and are thrilled to have the place with BBA. But it’s great to hear about the specific boys aspect at Tring, thank you!

Do you mind me asking if your DS started as a RBS JA at the same time as Tring?

We missed out on JAs last year as my son had what sounded a dreadful audition, lost his nerve, slipped over, and made it onto SWL. But it’s amazing how much they grow and develop in a year.

My son started as a Year 4 JA in the September, then started at Tring as a Year 4 in the January.

They do change a lot in a year, plus in our experience they don't take many Year 4's. More seem to enter the JA programme as a Year 5. Good luck with your auditions! X

  8. My son started Tring CBA when he was 8. He is now 11 and moving onto a full time vocational school, but will always look fondly on his time at CBA. They are extremely welcoming and friendly and are always there to talk to if you have any concerns or questions. The studios are lovely and bright. A nice waiting area for parents with tea, coffee, biscuits and wi-fi. The all boys younger class is 10 - 11.15am first class, then a 15 min break, and then 11.30 - 12.15. The male teacher is excellent and my son says some of the exercises are very similar to his RBS JA class. Also being all boys there is a nice focus on boys work. At the end of every term parents can watch the ballet class and after the children get to experience a guest teacher teaching another style. We've had contemporary, jazz , MT, flamenco. We have no experience of ballet boost but have heard good things about that programme too. Anyway, our experience of Tring has been nothing but positive. Good luck with your training. X

@Balletmumlife many thanks. Yes, it sounds fabulous. From your experience, if they attend all the rehearsal do they generally get to dance?

I believe last year they all danced but I could be wrong as didn't know all the year 5 children. I suppose it depends from year to year and nothing is ever certain. X

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has danced at the Summer Fair before? My ds is year 5 but first year JA. The email says they only dance if they have obtained the sufficient standards ( I was feeling remotely worried, lol). Any experiences?

My son danced last year at the summer fair as a JA. It's a lovely day! The children are very well rehearsed and polished as they are representing the Junior Associate Programme. But it's a wonderful experience to be apart of! X
