  1. Hi My son really enjoyed attending an intensive week with Jasmin Vardimon's company if you're interested in contemporary dance? There were quite a few younger boys who attended. Great cafe for parents/carers to wait. Free carpark and a sharing for parents/carers to watch at the end of the week. Check out "Children's Easter Dance Intensive (5-7)" on Eventbrite! Date: Tue, Apr 9 ‐ Fri, Apr 12 • 10:30 BST Location: Javelin Way, Ashford, TN24 8FN https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/childrens-easter-dance-intensive-5-7-tickets-793052540497?aff=eand
  2. Hi, didn't want to read and run. Others may have more experience to comment, but from my DC's experience of Trinity Laban, pointe shoes have not been seen at all during the 3 years spent on the CAT scheme. DC has worked alongside the MA and BA students who help out on Saturdays who say they have equal spent time on ballet, contemporary and creative classes but no emphasis on pointe work.
  3. Hi, sounds similar to my child's School where it's £20 per costume for those who are Grade 1 and under and £25 per costume for Grade 2 and above (keep the costumes after the show). Parents also chaperone or pay fee towards a professional chaperone if not enough parents come forward.
  4. Hi, Just going through process with child. Does seem to be that first stage screening of the audition photos and responses to screening questions determine if candidate is invited to audition. Child has been invited to audition on 31 January. Good luck to all applying.
  5. Hi, EYB is all about "performance" so as long as your son smiles and tries his best, he stands a very good chance of getting in x EYB was my son's first "big" audition experience and he was only grade 1 at the time too. Good luck x
  6. Hi Sally-Anne Well done to your DD - such an achievement! There is another thread as above, but no recent posts added. My son's done LCB three times. It's a wonderful company. Good luck at Finals x
  7. Hi, for "Ballet Shoes" the half term rehearsals ran from 10am to 5pm but children might only be called for one or two scenes for 2 hrs slots and not called everyday of the holiday,(although might be if in a lead role). Sunday rehearsal ran from 1pm to 6pm- again children may only be needed for a couple of hours but nearer the end of rehearsal schedule they will be needed when full run throughs start. Venues last year were predominantly Central School of Ballet and English National Ballet School and the half term sessions were at a school near Grenfall Tower. It's a big commitment but so worth it as a wonderful and very special performance experience for the children involved. Good luck to all those auditioning!
  8. Tickets are free. Performance is at 7pm on Monday 19th August 2019.

  10. Hi, the main show and tour rehearsal schedules are completely different. If your child has a letter/email today offering a Ballet Shoes 2019 contract then they've definitely been offered the main show. My son's been offered the main show this year too but 3 years ago got a tour and the tour letter is different. Congratulations to all those who got a yes today and please don't give up to those who got a no this time xx
  11. Hi You could try Bloch Synchrony or So Danca SD16, they have the elastic binding rather than ties so fit well and no ties to cut in which my DS found irritated his achilles. Also pre-sewn elastics. Bit more expensive but worth it if child taking ballet seriously. Hope your DS finds a brand he finds comfortable.
  12. Wonderful show and some lovely memories created for the kids, (and their parents). Think Miss Lewis said at the presentation that they were last in Wimbledon 5 years ago and were possibly looking at going somewhere like Woking another time. I have a tired but very happy boy today. Love EYB and the positive performance opportunities they give the kids.
  13. Hi, if ticket sales at Wimbledon don't pick up EYB won't be back! What a worry and such a shame. Trying to encourage all I know to come along as it will be a beautiful show x
  14. Hello, my son's got a yes for main cast too. It's the 3rd year that he's been involved, so feel very lucky! He got a place on the tour and "ballet for boys" lessons the first year and got into Secret Garden last year. LCB has been a great experience. Best wishes to all waiting for news xx
