    Best people to talk to are students who left in the last couple of years. Glasgow is a fabulous city to live in and I wish him the very best.

    Body stockings started making small sizes in 2010 which is great for performances and its definitely better than adding linings to the little hand made white leotards for associates programmes.

    Like I say it’s personal, mine never wore knickers when auditioning, associates or taking exams as a little girl.

    This is a personal question only you know your child, if you are teaching her the way forward for ballet auditions then it’s a great opportunity to ask her about what colour makes her feel good and what she would like to wear. My child was miss worrier so for us it was all part of her preparation and she is still super organised now when it comes to auditions and packing for contracts. I explained that no baggy leotards, why we don’t wear knickers under leotards it’s like a swimming costume, new socks or the nicest pair we have in a bag kept nice, hair must be immaculate maybe a tiny flower or ribbon that matches her leotard, matching coloured waist elastic or contrasting helps her remember to lift out of her waist. I encouraged her to pack her own bag, have spare everything, clean or new tight canvas split sole but most importantly of all use your smile to let everyone know how happy you are to be showing them your ballet and enjoy yourself.

    and may I add @cotes du rhone ! risk our child being ostracised by the professionals and other parents if we take any form of positive action.

    I see 17 gymnasts have been brave enough to come forward to expose abuse. (physical and emotional )

    Of course she will be great, they work hard, play hard at summer schools.

    @Spamcat i would let her do as many summer schools as you can afford. They make friends for life

    @Theodore19thank you for sharing your experiences. I’m saddened that such talent wasn’t able to be nurtured in the way such talent should have been, but I am thrilled he has found an amazing career and wish him every success in the future. Well done for adapting, changing, supporting him through the minefield of UK training.

    Mummy twinkle toes I hope you’ve received a full refund by now. I’d like to think that by this forum thread not being hidden it may have helped other parents. Do let us know how you got on.

    Parents may be able to pm you with contacts etc if you could give us a bit more information like whereabouts in the country you are and your child’s age and what syllabus they follow at the moment. Most parents know about their local schools and programmes.

    Remind all your dancers that flexibility alters due to hormones what comes naturally one term feels impossible the next. That is completely normal

    According to Company House they are still going and according to social media they had a virtual open day yesterday. They can’t be named on this forum, might be best to contact CAB or a solicitor to get a full refund.

    In my opinion these are Masterclasses and they are being taught by a ballet mistress and ballet masters that are passionate artistes with experience and qualifications that make them suitable to use the title ‘masterclasses.’ Lucky children for those that can afford it and can get there, if my DC was still in training I know what she would be getting for Christmas.

    If she enjoys Movement to music in both ballet and modern she will become a confident more versatile dancer and performer.

    Just a thought it’s also worth researching, whichever school you attend, do they proactively try and get you work. After that first year of company applications is over, the kudos of which school you attended diminishes No one puts the name of their school on their CV after a time, they put the ballet mistress or ballet masters name that they feel trained them, choreographers they have worked for details and productions they have danced in.

    One of those rare exceptions trained at LJSB until yr7, then all through WL, then all through Upper school, without injury, who did not get company.

    This is a good time to research the schools policies on injuries, Students being allowed to access medical facilities and support given to student when injured. You may be surprised at what you hear, if you ask the current students about their experiences. Hopefully most schools are reviewing their policies in light of recent events, I’d be honest with the school.

    Congratulations how exciting. I don’t know how many children in a class this coming year, children are placed in classes according to their focus and bodies development. So don’t worry if she spends two years in one class. Your child is very lucky to be part of something so very special. Hard work in comparison to other programmes but she will have fun and make lifelong friends.

    Might be worth ringing RAD and ISTD and finding out which qualified teaches for vocational exams are in North Norfolk, I know Charlotte has retired from Central in Norwich but it is still open with new owners, Guildhall is still going and the teachers qualifications are on line. RAD HQ is the best place to check out teachers.

    When researching Upper schools as Anna C says if there are Terms and Conditions read them carefully. If instead they have a Contract I strongly suggest you send it to your family solicitors and contact the local Education Authority to ensure that the studios are a safe environment where they follow Health and Safety, UK Government Safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of ALL children and are not just a private company with beautiful studios and expensive private accommodation your child must stay in.     I didn’t know Central had changed their ‘A‘ level and Degree programme With so many doing both successfully I thought it would continue.
