I find this version very creepy ... the turning of Drosselmeyer into Prince ... yuck ...

I always find the Royal Ballet decor very overstuffed. I hate those frosted wigs on the SPF and Cavalier, and the birthday party that seems like a Buckingham Palace Christmas party. The BRB decor seems much more imaginative and beautiful, something out of a childhood dream.

From what I understand if they move thriugh the most vulnerable people first (frontline workers, people in long term care, elderly, pre-existing comorbidities) the number of seriously ill will fall quickly. Hospitals will be less overwhelmed and the situation should be way more under control. Of course I'm just trying to be optimistic about the vaccine timeline.

So sorry but I keep thinking we have three months left of this. We should be able to get a significant portion of our population vaccinated by March and April.

I am bummed they cut the Waltz of the Flowers.

I loved the BRB's abridged Nutcracker. I actually liked it much more than Peter Wright's Royal Ballet version.

So I streamed this. I live in the States and my only knowledge of Peter Wright's Nutcracker is the Royal Ballet version. I'm not fond of that one. I watched this one and was stunned at how beautiful and imaginative this version is. Wow. So glad I streamed this.

Here in the U.S. the virus is ripping through every single state and yet I know people whose family members DIED of the virus who refuse to wear masks, watch their hands, or stop crowding into restaurants and bars. It's madness. The lockdowns are basically for people who can't follow the rules

I dislike the blond wigs too. IMO they don't even look good on white people. They look downright ridiculous on non-white dancers.
