  1. Thank you, I am sure there will be more movement. I understand that the MA1 class is year7 and 8 girls, MA2 is year8 and 9. There are about 16 girls in each class. There should be places for year8 students too. If year7 girls were (theoretically ) half of MA1 group, it looks like year8 cohort might be the largest. I don’t know the exact split and don’t know for sure how progression between MA1 and MA2 works in reality. SWL is open until 1 October. It is worth to call RBS Associates office to check on the status. Good luck to your DDs! Waiting is very hard.
  2. DD year 7 Mids offer a few days ago. SWL does move. good luck to those still waiting
  3. Your daughter is a wonderful dancer! Wishing her good luck for Elmhurst and Tring!
  4. I heard that Birmingham results are out
  5. Good luck to all waiting! Does anyone know how many auditioned for year7 entry?
  6. It’s true, JA girls are all very different. There are lots of discussions on the forum about the legs but in truth once the dancer is on point we have the illusion of extremely long legs. I watched the new Swan Lake and all RBC dancers have very long arms and necks. It is known that musicality, artistry and enjoyment of dance are taken into consideration Good luck to all children !

  16. http://www.mastersofballet.org/ https://www.facebook.com/Masters-Of-Ballet-Academy-578290265639441/ My DD really enjoyed the Masters of Ballet SS at the Sadler's Wells theater. The teaching faculity, organization and the venue were fabulous. I will apply for her to attend the SS next year.
  17. On 01.10 some groups (of 30) had 2-3 boys and some groups had girls only. It might equate to a 35-40 girls per place competition. In any case the process was so well organised and the audition class was lovely. All kids came out beaming with joy. My DD is too tall, I checked online - 4 ft 8 in cm = 142.24 cm, but we went anyway. She now has her ballet photo on the Albert Hall website, that was not expected, a nice memento from the audition. The fee well invested

  22. Hi Sarahw, Thank youi for sharing the link. DanceMum83, based on 2015/16 RBS annual report 1160 candidates came to audition for RBS JA program last year of which 1011 were girls. 117 girls were admitted across year 4,5,6. In London we had 355 candidates and 26 intake, That equates to only 7 percent admittance rate or 1 of 14 girls being invited to join. 149 boys auditioned for 48 places across all 8 centers fot year 4,5,6. In London 65 candidates compete for 15 places. 23 percent or every fifth boy were lucky to join the program. This year there were 1300 candidates and statistics will appear online at the beginning of next year. There are no published split of how many girls were invited in year 4,5 or 6. You will be able to see it on 9 September at the begining of the class. Congratulations to you and your daughter and her teacher. There is a lot of work done by the team. X

Shirley Hancock just saw my DD. She immediately understood the issue and gave a solution. Above are her contact details. It took me over a month to find a specialist for my DD pooled knee. Our NHS suggested to give it a rest and waiting may remove symptoms but would not tackle the cause. We are so happy. I even found and bought her book https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/s//ref=mw_dp_a_s?ie=UTF8&i=books&k=Shirley+Hancock From amazon review: This book written by Justin Howse, Consultant Orthepaedic Surgeon to the Royal Ballet Schools, The Royal Academy of Dancing and the Remedial Dance Clinic, London , and also by Shirley Hancock, Principal Physiotherapist to the Royal Ballet Schools, the Royal Academy of Dancing and the Remedial Dance Clinic ,London. This book is a study reading requirement for the Royal Academy of Dancing Anatomy paper. The foreward by Dame Ninette de Valois, says it all really. "This book gives us the opportunity to indulge in some serious reflection. It is full of highly technical observations on movement as related to the world of ballet and is accompanied by helpful instructions. A great deal of it should be rewarding to students, dancers, teachers, repetiteurs and ballet staff in general. I dare to add that in my opionion, it is also food for thought for choreographers. Today it is not customary for choreographers to give either scientific or practical thought to their choreographic demands. Let us recall that a composer has to remember to keep within the range of a singer's voice. It therefore seems right for a choreographer to study more carefully not only the limitation of dancer's limbs but also the limitation of their general stamina ."You will never regret spending the money on this book.I refer to this book often. It has excellent photographs also.
