  1. Dd has attended previous Spring and Summer courses there. The current venue is in a safe area. You are not far from Kensington/Chelsea. There are good bus routes and you can hire Santander bicycles in the street it is. They share the building with an art college. Dd found studios to be good. ENB has top floor of building, I believe. I know they were intending to move last year, but do not know why there is a delay. The hostel they recommend for girls is closer to their current location so worth baring in mind if they relocate. I prefer their current location. The hostel offers a meal plan and was in the region of £13000 a year. Congratulations on the offer.
  2. Hi Belle, It was cancelled last year but they now have accreditation.
  3. Hi all, I just wondered if anyone else has applied for the classical ballet course for their new course which recently received accreditation? The 3 yr degree for 16 year olds (If anyone has dancers currently at the Hinckley school could you DM me with views?).
  4. Dd1’s video was watched again earlier this week and again today but no news yet.
  5. Has anyone heard about bursaries yet? We are at deadline for a different course so would be great to hear.
  6. This thread has been quiet. I was just wondering if anyone is considering for September?
  7. Hi Amanda, I can agree with Raquelle’s suggestions. My Dds have been in all of the schemes at one time or another. Cecchetti scheme is held at Ballet Cymru and is a very friendly scheme which has some excellent visiting teachers. Ballet Cymru’s scheme consists of 2 levels and they do ballet, pointe for older ones as well as contemporary/improv. It is monthly on Sundays, if I remember rightly. Elmhurst YDs is around 2-2.30 drive and is on Saturdays. Younger ones can opt for jazz. Several younger ones tend to do both JAs and YD as not too far from each other. Older students do not have jazz option. It is 2 hours on Saturdays. MAs is available in Birmingham or Radstock unless you want to travel further. BBAs are at Rambert on Sundays or Exeter. They offer ballet and contemporary classes. Numerous levels available. There is also Kings which offer 6 hours on Saturdays. We found this to be good and used to take 2-3 hours from Barry Island. There is ballet every week and then 2 hours of either contemporary or jazz followed by 2 hours repertoire. LSC in Hereford is another good scheme and straight down A40. Usually 11-5pm and they do ballet, jazz, contemporary and singing.
  8. I know it is frustrating waiting. I worry about student accommodation being full too as London doesn’t have lots of options for 16 year olds. We have already had to pay a deposit elsewhere.
  9. 2 very short views. 1 in Jan and 1 in beginning of Feb. Jan might have even been us. 😜 Have you had any?
  10. Hi Pinkpip 100, I would think a year of negative teaching will not be beneficial at all. Self esteem is much more important. My Dds have been in elite and smaller associate schemes. We always went with what would benefit them rather than what their teacher thought was best. With the smaller associate schemes have a look at the faculty and their experience. If this is good and your Dd was happy there during the Summer then go for it. If you do prefer to stay at the elite one is there a different venue available that would mean a different teacher?
  11. Central have said they are planning live finals on the 17-18th April but no results from prelim videos until 2nd April. The information on live finals was recently added but is on their website now.
  12. Hi Ballet4boyz, I am not sure. It would be good to hear soon one way or another. It closed to U.K. applications but international deadline not until end of March so might be after that 🤔
  13. I found this website which may be useful to some. It discusses equity involvement with several U.K. companies with most of them agreeing to a starting salary of £23k for Corps. I know some apprentices get half of that so still need support to live. It also has some information on junior companies. http://www.balletposition.com/junior-companies
  14. Hi Curlypearl, It is a series of students affirming they enjoy Kings International on social media. The other school is not stated at all. It is more about the positives they have now. Kings is very supportive.
  15. Richmond Premier Inn is about 10-15 minute drive from entrance to park. They accept bookings during lockdown but may not offer any breakfasts. It can take a while getting to WL on Saturdays and Sundays as they do sometimes close off entrances. Cyclists have priority and there are a lot of them.
  16. Dd1 has just been offered a full time place. The training looks great and I can see they were advertising in the Dancing Times. I just wondered if anyone has any other views or opinions?
  17. Neither. Elmhurst said to be patient and they would be in touch. ENB said last week they would be viewing but nothing yet.
  18. I know the Upper School thread has been quiet. Good luck to you 🤞🏻
  19. Just had a reply to say they have everything and will be in touch soon.
  20. I knew this thread could be timely. Both dds and their peers have been awarded merits (inter and Advanced) Dd1 has had distinctions consistently in vocationals and needed this one for the Fonteyn. 😿
  21. It does depend what the students plan to do but Phyllis Bedells, for example requires distinction in intermediate and Ad1. The Fonteyn requires distinction in Ad1 and 2 so if these comps are to be considered then results do matter. It is still worth registering an appeal as there is nothing to lose by doing so. Other students may have appealed if marks were very stringent.
  22. Yes, my Dds ex school appealed a few years ago due to marks being much lower. One student had always achieved 90 or more and got low 70s. That particular student ended up being re-examined and got 96% so it does happen. It is worth questioning 🤨
