  1. Hi i have just received the email also! My DD is going to be gutted. Following this thread to see what people come up with. Was so organised but now left with the possibility of nothing ? X
  2. Thanks everyone, i'll have a word with our teacher.
  3. Both my daughters take idta exams. From reading this others seem to do RAD as well as IDTA. Should my girls my girls be doing this too? What is meant by vocational exams? What's the difference between IDTA exams and rad? sorty for the zillion questions?'!! ?? xx
  4. My DD now knows what she did wrong. She said they did the plies in parallel in the assessment but never thought at the time where here knees were aligning so that should be an easy fix now that she's aware of it. Just need to be consistent with her posture. Apparently all the JAs have been asked by the assessirs to work on posture and tracking so at least it's something they will all focus on in class. Next assessment is May and then we know if she will get a 2nd year ????
  5. Yes even our ballet teacher didn't catch on to the term. You learn something everyday as they say!!
  6. Hello again So we got the assessment result. She scored 4s and 3s in all but posture and tracking. She was given 2 for these, (need to improve). The email said that we will find out about next years associate place after spring term. From what you remember do you know what is meant by tracking?

  8. Thank you. Asked DDs regular dance teacher who thought it meant to keep posture whilst moving as well as when stood. My DD did say something about keeping the knee in line with the toe and that it may be to do with that. I shall ask Dr Dance!
  9. Have already done this but as we have broken for half term we won't get to ask for two weeks. So I thought I'd try find out so we can figure out how to improve as early as possible.
  10. Hi My DD needs to improve her posture and tracking as told in a recent assessment. Not even sure what tracking means?? Anyway does anyone have any good home exercises to improve posture and tracking?
  11. Yes, we received the letter yesterday. My DD is gutted. Such a shame as it's so highly regarded and been running a long time. The training is excellent. Just got to hope she now holds on to her JA place at Northern ballet????
  12. Thank you that's very helpful. Fingers crossed she gets 3 or above then ????
  13. Hi all My DD is in her 1st associate year at Northern Ballet in Leeds and is really enjoying it. She has her assessment on the 10th Feb to see if she will keep her associate place and move to intermediates in Sept. Has anyone been through this before with their Dd's? What percentage do they tend to keep? How hard is the assessment? She also dances in York on the Louise Browne Scholarship. I think they assess them gradually. We are just hopefully she keeps one of them at least!! She loves both!
  14. Thanks for that. My eldest has a bunheads band, I'm wondering if she could just use that. Wish they would be a bit more specific. I'm not far away from the Batley planet dance if I need to whip there. Thank you!
  15. Hi all My daughter starts northern ballet Junior Assocuates this Friday in Leeds and the kit list says she needs a Thera band. Does anyone know how long this should be as there are so many different one out there Im just not sure which one! ? Thank u in advance X
  16. My DD had a wonderful time at the York Dance Assembly. She raved about the delicious food and she loved the teachers. She really enjoyed the classes and said that they were both challenging and interesting and she learnt lots. She also enjoyed having her birthday there! The end of week demo was fabulous with really interesting choreography and music choices. The students were all fab! I was very proud of my daughter for putting herself forward for a solo singing part in Hairspray. She loved the musical theatre classes. She wants to return next year so I will be signing her up! She successfully auditioned for scholars this year so she is now really excited to start in September. My eldest DD returned a week ago from a week in Blackpool on the Phil Winstons International summer school. She is already booked on for next year. She had an amazing week and it gave a real insight to what it is like at full time dance college. The accommodation and food was excellent and the teaching was high quality. Better start saving for next year!!!
  17. It's my daughter who has her birthday on the Tuesday however it will be her 10th.
  18. This could have a lot of variants but I can tell you what we pay. So you have an entry fee per dance which averages at about £3 per dancer per entry. Entry fees to festivals to spectate can vary. The least I've paid is £5 and the most is £12. Costumes are the biggest varient. I've paid between £20 and £250 per costume. You may be able to get hold of 2nd hand costumes or have them handmade. My daughters tutus have been around £150-250 and Lycra catsuits around £90. But it all depends on the costuming and if you like thing bespoke or happy to go 2nd hand or catalogue. I have two daughters so my expense is pretty high. My entry fees normally total about £85 per comp. Which between them includes 9 solos, 8 duets, 4 trios, 2 troupes and 1 groupe
  19. Yes the master classes will be listed on the website. £40 per day or £75 for two. Definitely a valuable experience.
  20. Im afraid the scholar auditions were 3rd July for sept 16/17 intake. My daughter auditioned and was successful, she can't wait to start. She did the January and May master classes and thoroughly enjoyed them and they were challenging so I would recommend those. One of our senior girls is just finishing her 1st year at Renaisssnce and is loving it!!
  21. We had the email today from Renaissance scholars for my DD and its a yes!! Cant wait to tell her when she gets in from school, it will be such a confidence boost. The audition was quite challenging, especially the jazz class. She was pulled out of the group and asked which dance school she attended, not sure what that meant, but must have been good!!
  22. One of our older girls at our dance school is a scholar and did the summer school last year and said it was fantastic! With special mention of the fantastic food!! haha I could be accused of my girls doing too much however whilst they are eager and want to do it I am happy to support them and do as much as humanly possible...the bank account doesn't quite agree though!!
