  3. Is anyone selling a Degas leotard in size 10A or 12A in vgc ? Thanks
  4. You apply for both Spring and Summer intensives on the 1 application form. That is how it reads to me.
  5. My dd was having pain in her heels and i put a thin round make up sponge inside to give a bit of cushioning. Seems to have done the trick.
  6. Think Centre Pointe do Contemporary at The Pointe on Sundays.
  7. I have spoken to my dd teacher again about this and she said absolutely no gap between heels. She said she will call the other teacher to discuss it as she shouldn't be doing it in the other class 🙄
  8. Well I have just asked my dd who is 9 and had to laugh, she said she imagines the examiner as a 'banana' and it always makes her smile and less self conscious!
  9. I have looked at the Buxton audition for my dd, she is interested in doing it but was wondering how her associate class would be with missing so many weekends?
  10. Ahh ok. I thought that was what my dance teacher told a friends son. Must have heard it wrong.
  11. Thanks for all your thoughts and advice. One teacher is RBS and the other Elmhurst .
  12. My dd age 9 has swayback legs. Her Associate teacher has said she allows her a small gap between her heels in first position up to an inch. When she puts her heels together she is slightly off balance and one knee crosses over the other knee. Her regular dance teacher said she must put her heels together. Has anyone else had experience of this and which way is best? She is doing one thing in one class and a different thing in the other class at the moment.
  13. I think the boys Mids are London only.
  14. So sorry to read this. I hope your dd soon recovers and finds a new joy in her life and you are all able to look back fondly with happy dance memories. My dd is only 9 and has dreams of becoming a ballerina. Part of me hopes she changes her mind, I worry now about what may lie ahead for her.
  15. Thanks NaiveDad, I enjoyed reading your post and the advice you gave. My dd is only 8 and dancing for enjoyment at the moment but I do love to hear other people's experiences and stories.
  16. I feel so sad for your daughter reading this. Isn't it all about the enjoyment and pleasure of dance at this age? My dd is a bit younger but for her she loves dancing, loves the people she dances with and idolize's her fantastic teacher who encourages her every step. What area are you from? Other people on here can recommnd a dance school worthy of your daughter x
  17. Is it? Oh that's fab. Didn't read it properly as I don' have a dancing boy, just saw it on facebook.
  18. Northern ballet are doing a boys open day ages 9 to 12 yrs on Sat 10th Feb for boys who love to dance
  19. Thanks so much. I have just read out all the responses to my dd and she feels a bit more reassured. We will concentrate on the exercises mentioned and hopefully it is a strength issue that will improve and will have a chat with her teacher tomorrow.
  20. Dancing unicorn, she is with Elmhurst Associates. She gets different homework each week which she writes in her book. She doesn't use her theraband regularly, we will start to do that. One of the Mums at ballet said a balance/wobble board might help?
  21. Thanks for all your replies, will have a word with her teacher about it. Can anyone recommend a dance physio in the Manchester/Cheshire area?
  22. My dd is 8 and for the past few months she has had corrections by her regular dance teacher and her associate teacher that she has a tendency to roll her feet inwards. This is happening most classes. Although she says she understands what the teacher is teaching her and tries hard to do it correctly in class, she says it hurts her feet, is uncomfortable and feels off balance. Could it be a problem with her feet or is it likely to be that she just needs to perfect the technique? Has anyone else's child been told this? I think she is feeling a bit disheartened with being told the same thing each lesson when she is doing her best to correct this without success.
  23. Fantastic news for your dd richieN There are so many ups and downs along the dance journey, we are just starting ours but it gives me great encouragement to share with my dd to never give up your dream. Please let us know how she gets on. Best of luck.
