  1. I’m sorry, I have just seen this- thanks very much, this is really helpful. 😀
  2. Thank you so much. I might just give them a call. We’re joining Newcastle. DD is very excited.
  3. Hello everyone 👋, my daughter will be starting JAs in Jan. I’m just reviewing the uniform list and wondered if anyone has just bought the material for the skirt and made it themselves? Do you know if there’s a guide somewhere on how to do it? Thanks 😊
  4. My DD got a yes for year 4! Actually can’t quite believe it, we went in with absolutely no expectations whatsoever. She is over the moon! Bittersweet though, as my eldest tried 3 times to get in, but never made it, so I know how the parents and littles ones who didnt get in feel. Eldest DD did go on to Elmhurst associate classes which she loved- there is more than RB out there. I have no idea at all what the RB look for, as both my daughters are beautiful dancers. The great unknown!
  5. Thanks Tulip. They bow out to the sides, so In parallel her heels are together but she has an inch or so gap between her calfs, knees and thighs. She doesn't have any gap in first position. I think she may have very slight swayback too. It's hard not to second guess what RBS are looking for and its encouraging to hear that your DD was never a JA too. Thank you.
  6. Hi, if a child has bowed legs does this affect whether they will be accepted in to a JA scheme and can therefore train to be a ballerina? My dd auditioned for a year 4 place on the RBS JA scheme but didn't get in. She wants to audition again next year which I'm encouraging but I understand that the audition concentrate on the physicality of a child and obviously this is something she can't change. TBH I didn't realise she had bow legs until I took the photos of feet in parallel. She has beautifully stretched legs and feet but wondered if bow legs are a no no in classical ballet? Thanks in advance!
  7. Yes boyohboy, you kind of expect it given the odds, especially for a year 4 place, but there's still always that glimmer of hope! Never mind. DD took it quite well, she was disappointed but quickly got over it and is looking to next year. Well done Tutugirl! Hopefully there'll be some more yes's on the way! X
  8. Newcastle results are out! It's a no for our DD, haven't told her yet. Disappointed for her, but she said on the day if she didn't get in she wanted to try next year. Good luck to you all waiting x
  9. Hopefully not much longer to wait then, fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone ???? x
  10. We were at the Newcastle audition on May 4th (the first centre to audition I think) and were told July. Haven't heard anything yet but hoping it'll be sooner rather than later. It's been a long wait!
  11. My DD also had a great time today, she came out beaming so that's all I can ask for. She particularly enjoyed dancing to the piano! July seems like a long way off but she has already said she wants to audition next year if she doesn't get in. Good luck to those auditioning over the next few weeks.
  12. We're Newcastle today, feeling nervous but DD as cool as a cucumber so far! Good luck to everyone ????
