My DD has just declined Elmhurst, Tring and Central so don’t give up hope.

Please don’t be to alarmed by what you heard! While not ideal what happened, it could easily happen anywhere. Old building or new, sometimes things just happen (Think of all the flooding problems Elmhurst had.) On another note, my DD left Elmhurst at end of YR 8 to attend YDA and absolutely loves it! YDA has a very high standard. No school ticks every box but I’m sure no student does either. It’s more about choosing the right fit at the right time and if you make a mistake it’s ok, just find the other options that fit. There are many routes to the final destination and plenty of detours along the way. Don’t let any one thing be the be all and end all. I’m sorry YDA turned out not to be an option for your dd, I personally highly recommend it. It’s not for everyone though and I’m sure the girls that left YDA to attend Elmhurst are just as happy with their decision and I wish them well.

My DD will be attending this year (first time) I still have to provide the insurance certificate. What have you used for this?

I wouldn’t panic, and any questions you have, just give them a call to clarify. They are all very helpful. The application has birthdates as well as asking year applying for so even if you ticked the wrong box that should have been picked up. Honestly just give them a call to put you at rest and give them time to adjust if there is an error. Good luck.

. Hi Cablegirl. My daughter had a straight up no didn't even get offered finals at RBS but had a yes for Summer program and is currently at Elmhurst. It does and can happen. Don't give up hope and fingers crossed for you x

Opinions on pre-pointe/Demi pointe shoes? Dd is 10 (11 in July) desperate to be on pointe. Teacher wants to start with these.

What do dd's wear for contemporary? My dd's classes here only required jazz shoes, convertible tights and her leotard. T-shirts and jazz shorts were optional.

Oops ???? Yes not MDS, still don't understand all the terminology over there. And no not eligible. Dd will be going to Elmhurst as it was her favourite. We were very impressed with all the schools we saw though and would have been happy at any of them. Elmhurst was dd's first choice though.

I was a bit late replying to Hammond as I was waiting for the paperwork to arrive from the other school, so I've just let them know this week that we won't be taking the spot offered. I hope that opens a place for one of the talented children on here that has worked so hard. Good luck everyone! *\•/*

We got in touch with Elmhurst and they were kind enough to tell us the result when we said we hadn't received anything, but we still had to wait for all the paperwork to come through the post. I didn't really believe it until I saw it! We have now managed to book flights, figure out the logistics and timing of our move, and get an appointment for the medical forms. Lots to do!

I currently live in Texas and I haven't found full time training in the country that also offers full time education for my dd's age (10, 11 in July) In the US most children at an elite level of training for anything are generally homeschooled. Overall I think it is a system that works well but it certainly isn't for everyone. Most places won't accept children to board until at least 14 but usually 16. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they don't exist I'm just saying that I haven't found any. I think the training here is based on ability rather than age or year group. My dd was training with 10-14yr olds when she was 9. I know of a 14yr old training with 16-17yr olds and living in residence with them. On top off that, the education curriculum is different and that can affect them when they return to the UK. Dd has been at the British international school just to keep her on the British curriculum so it would be easy for her to fit back into school on our return to the UK. I know nothing about any other countries.

Well we finally received our post regarding Elmhurst and we are thrilled dd has been offered a place for year 7! Also had an offer from Hammond but prefer Elmhurst all around. Congratulations to everyone that had success and thinking of everyone that had a "not now". ????
