  1. Hi even though my dd only applied for year 7 places this year. We got no's. This post has been so encouraging for her. She's set her heart on applying next year for summer schools, other associate schools and for year 8 places. She's come out of getting a no with such strength and a fierce determination to get a yes. I admire all our dd's and ds's. They go through so much but always get back up. Well done to all of them. No's and yes's. You are all an inspiration. Especially to the younger children who are following in your footsteps. They learn so much from your journeys.
  2. Well done to your dd dancefanatic. So proud of all the dd's yes's and no's. I couldn't do what they have all been through. My dd has her moto at the moment. It's every no makes her stronger. She says she'll just work ten times harder and go again for next year.
  3. We got a no from Elmhurst. We were expecting it. Just to tell her now though.
  4. We auditioned for Elmhurst on Thursday and not received a letter yet. They did say a week to ten days so we will carry on waiting for a few more days x
  5. I think they probably were. The 9.00am class. My DD was the smallest one there.
  6. We were at Elmhurst today to. Beautiful school. My DD is not hopeful. Says there was lots she had never done. She says she's going to work really hard for next year as she feels she needs more time. Bless her! Good luck to all awaiting a yes!
  7. Well done to all the yes's. I'm do proud of all the children as it was a hard day.
  8. Thank you Quest and Peanut68. I do think we as parents take it harder than our children. They are so much more resilient. I could not have done what she did at The Hammond on Monday. She was amazing and for that alone I am so proud of her.
  9. We got a no from The Hammond. The letter came through this morning so very quick. DD is home is home today as have to leave early for Elmhurst's audition tomorrow. She's taken it surprisingly well. I feel it's a front though. How do I keep her from giving up after one no when she has another audition tomorrow?
  10. We were at hammond on Monday and due at Elmhurst on Thursday. DD very excited. She loved the Hammond and said it went well.
  11. Hi My DD has Elmhurst next Thursday too but for year 7. She has Hammond on Monday so a busy week. Good luck to both x
  12. Thank you bluebell. I am so proud of my dd. I've told her that competition is fierce to get into these schools. So we actively looked at local secondary schools and we've applied to all the ones she has liked. She says she is happy to go to any of them whether it is a vocational school or local secondary. She is already in the hammond associates and is in a really good local dance school. She said she'll just try again when she's older for 6th form. She says she would love to get into either vocational school but if she doesn't she can still attend the associate classes and she loves her local dance school which she has many friends at. I love her level headedness. She is happy with either choice. I fear she will be disappointed. I think that is normal. She is practising so hard. Almost daily. The Hammond audition seems quite full on so we've been preparing for a while now. Good luck to those children going through Auditions. X
  13. Getting nervous now as my dd has two Auditions in the same week for Hammond and Elmhurst. Not sure how my dd is feeling. She keeps saying she's ok. She's dealing with this better than me!
  14. I have 5 hours to kill one Sunday a month when I drop my dd off at The Hammond. I have found myself a nice coffee shop that does nice cake and have spent alot of time at the cathedral! Lol!
  15. Hi. I'm new to this forum (and a long time lurker). My dd is a keen dancer and goes to The Hammond Associates. We applied quite late in October for Elmhurst and The Hammond as we were quite unsure not only about the process but whether dd is really sure this is the path she wants to follow, also im aware it's a roller coaster that we are about to embark on. We have an audition date for The Hammond in January. No news yet from Elmhurst (maybe we applied too late). Just want to say good luck to all those with auditions coming up and thank you all for the wealth of information. I have learnt so much and have been able to prepare dd for the road ahead as much as I can. Nikki
