  1. I was in Bloomsbury for the screening, they did seem to have a couple of technical hitches, mikes not working etc. The questions were not pre selected, the audience was just asked to stick their hands up during the interview with Meskova.
  2. Bar the hugely irritating woman sitting next to me who showed up 10 minutes late, trod on my feet whislt getting to her seat and then chewed her fingernails the whole way through it, I throughly enjoyed the documentary! As some have pointed out it doesn't really reveal anything new, but the access the filmmakers got was truly unprecedented, I think it is quite telling that Russian TV plan to show it as well considering it's not a vanity piece. The documentary is very well filmed, I love seeing footage from the wings of a performance and some of the rehearsal clips were super. My favourite bit of the evening however was when Nick Read was asked if we could expect a sequel, he responded that it was unlikely as a film he produced about 260 of Russia's most dangerous criminals from a prison was an less stressful experience!
  3. Woolf Works... I absolutely adored it and seeing Alessandra Ferri perform was a highlight. The whole production really impressed me, I am a massive McGregor fan but understand he can be a little 'marmite' for some of the ROH audience. I felt that this piece may go some way to finally softening those critics. Osipova in Onegin, I have always wanted to see her dance the role and was not disappointed. It was also one of my best friends first time attending a ballet, she spent most of the performance sobbing, it was emotionally wonderful to share my passion with her finally! Richard Alston Dance Company, Opening Gambit. I commissioned this to be performed at a festival I curated this year, they danced in the beautiful public space of Central St Martins with a small audience sitting on the floor. It was one of my highlights because of how intimate it felt, I swear at one point a dancers foot grazed the top of my head! Edward Watson in everything... My goodness that man just fills me with every emotion when I see him dance. I particularly enjoyed Other Stories both him and Wendy Whelan were fabulous, although it was the pairing rather than the choreography which made it magical.
  4. Many thanks Janet, I thought I would raise my head above the parapet! Happy to report back.
  5. For those in London the live Q&A session with the filmmakers and Bolshoi principle dancer Anastasia Meskova and historian Simon Sebag Montefiore will take place at Bertha Dochouse in Bloomsbury on the 10th January at 3pm from where it will be streamed to the other cinemas taking part. I will be attending and I'm happy to ask questions on behalf of other forum members if you would like! However, It's a lovely cinema if you are tempted to attend yourself.
