  1. Where are they stocked or do you buy online? Guess could buy a few sizes/features to try & keep best, return rest?
  2. Oh I have a real dilemma reading these wonderful reviews if the cinema screening…. Do I go to the encore showing on Sunday (assuming there is one locally) or do I wait for my ROH visit on 27th & not risk ‘diluting’ the emotion through seeing before/inevitable comparing cast in my head….
  3. I’m intrigued now too! Maybe if is the best kept secret of French Ballet & what gives French trained dancers their unique style & ‘je ne sais quoi’ of the likes of the snacking Sylvie Guillemne!
  4. I booked Nunez/Bolle as felt it a golden chance to see my 2 all time favourite stars! Equal draw
  5. Don’t want to burst any bubbles but generally ‘scholarships’ are just 10% of fees but there is often chance to boost this via ‘hardship’ bursary funds. Only way to know is ask, ask & ask again! Good luck but also many many routes that can lead to same ultimate destination
  6. I think it very much reflects the recruitment difficulties in employing enough male dancers…. So giving more prizes to males helps secure them for companies who all compete for the make talent…. Not always even just about getting the best….just getting enough with required skill set. It’s a buyers market for male dancers…look how many fully funded opportunities there are in early years training to encourage boys to enter dance…. Rarely a freebie for girls as the numbers starting/continuing to advanced level are so much higher! I am not by any means suggesting the make dancers are not worthy winners or any less talented. They are all amazing. Just reflecting that at high desirability level where companies/top schools all vying for the best talent, there are perhaps 1 male dancer to maybe 50 girls? That’s just a wild stab in the dark from me…. Has anyone got any accurate idea if numbers? Be interesting to know if so! I do feel the balance is getting better… as in more make dancers…. Bit of course there are not fewer girls… so, based on a typical classical rep company, there are still way more girls available for each company position than boys. In more contemporary fields I think it’s more likely to be getting ever closer a 50:50 split as time rolls on and becoming a more even playing field….
  7. It’s a special occasion (with Grand Tier box booked… so thought this was closest of the posh eateries?) I can’t imagine beef wellington with red wine jus could be cold…..🤔 Could it???
  8. I struggled with the noise that just echoed up from Paul Hamlyn Hall below when in the balcony restaurant the one time I was lucky enough to eat there… Can people really just wander through the Crush Room? Wondering if this has changed over the years….Im sure when I once tried I was stopped ….🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe they didn’t like the look of me 😂
  9. I think it must have been changed along with the big renovation as it’s very much a hot menu -,well main courses certainly are ((I can’t imagine a side of potato purée works as a cold dish??!!) Pre-order only & quite a small menu It’s booking to theatre ticket holders only & don’t think you can walk through it? But only ever looked from afar! Anyone been in last year or two?
  10. I think we should hire you to be our 'newsfeed'!! I have never really done FB or Instagram or twitter & feel completely out of my comfort zone....miss the days when you had to just buy a newspaper to hear about job vacancies!
  11. I always thought it was SAB...School of American Ballet....is that another establishment altogether?
  12. Am looking for opinions on whether dining in The Crush Room is as special as I imagine it to be to really make the perfect special occasion ballet outing?
  13. Oh I see, is this US thing whereby benefactor makes get added? I’m amazed our RBS isn’t now called something unpronounceable!!
  14. Guess there is merit to using social media….lesson learned
  15. Out of interest, what had to be sent in to apply?
  16. Drat - they missed that one then! Never imagined FB used to inform about auditions….was it just dance roles or dancer singers?
  17. Out of interest, where would this have been advertised & for which production (London or toor/overseas)? Thanks
  18. I’m guessing what was meant was the level and original entries pre-live rounds being higher % female to male. If then equal numbers of F to M get to live round then the odds are higher for a make dancer to get a place in the live comp than a female entrant
  19. I must’ve missed this…. Was there an open call dancers could apply for?
  20. Well sounds like you need to take me with you to your next gig of choice to educate me Sophoife!
  21. The waiting is tough…so glad to be personally out of it all now!! Good luck to those awaiting…. Trust your gut instincts as to best place if more than one affordable offer (& remember that may include staying home & working out a training route independently) xx
