  1. I agree about Rambert too. Definately more Contemporary based. A parent asked at audition in January how many they had go into a ballet company and they could only name 1 person! So not the place to go if you want a ballet company at the end of your training!
  2. You say your dd is going into yr5 in September. Has she auditioned for RBS Assiciates and awaiting result or is she auditioning next year? Doing an associate class as well as her usual classes is definitely something to think about. I know Birmingham are Saturday classes but could you do Manchester which I know are Friday or Sunday! Or is London on a Sunday? I can’t remember! She still has 12 months before auditions for vocational school start so changing and getting somewhere where she can do more classes now is more preferable than leaving it too late! Oh and have you thought about doing some summer schools this year?
  3. My dd has just passed Grade 4 RAD and been doing Inter-foundation (would have taken exam but cos hadn’t turned 11 by time Exams came round couldn’t do the exam - she had to wait another 12 months before she could do the exam at school!) If your dd goes to vocational school then she will be doing RAD exams (depending on where she gets in as some don’t follow a syllabus at all) so may be better to change or at least do RAD along side Cecchetti. Just a thought x
  4. 2x track suit tops - sstp 2x track suit bottoms - sstp
  5. 2 Hammond Blazers 1x 29” chest 1x 34” chest
  6. Hiya it says 11/12 on the label, bit short in sleeve but fits my 15yr dd!! So I would say plenty of room over blazer!
  7. Ahhh that’s fantastic! Well done him! 🎉
  8. Hammond Drama black top size AS £3 1x34” V neck top £3 (total 2 x 34” tops)
  9. I also have character skirt but will have to check size!
  10. I now have some Hammond uniform for sale. More as the term goes on but in the meantime as follows: 3x 36” chest V neck tops £3 each 1x 34” chest V neck top £3 3x28/30 Hammond Tracky bottoms £3 each 2x32” Hammond Tracky tops £3 each 1x age 11/12 Hammond Coat £5 All de-labelled and ready to go! I will add to this post more items when they come up - I will have blazers, blouses etc over the coming weeks.
  11. Just found 2 items still not sold! Fleece zipped top age 11-12 £3 V neck sweat shirt age 11-12 £3 Or the both £5 plus postage if not sold in next week they’re going in the bin!
  12. My dd (and others who I know have birthdays July/August!) were turned down for Rambert this year purely because of age! They do tend to take those that are older! I had already thought my dd too young for the London scene! It does depend on the child (and the parent!). I wouldn’t dream of sending my just 16 yr old off to another country to train, and yet lots of people do!
  13. In British schools the school year age is 16 and turning 17 during the school year! (Birthday between 1st September and 31st August during year of entry). Not 15 turning 16 if that makes sense? So if your dd won’t be 16 til the October, then her entry will be the following year! My dd’s Birthday is July so she is one of the younger ones in her year! October birthday - she will be one of the older ones! Hope that makes sense!!
  14. All booked here too! Sad but excited at same time!! Cant believe Saturday selling so fast!!!
  15. Last year it was 2 shows a day! Hoping same this year but only thur, fri and sat x
  16. When dd was JA in Manchester they wore full sole pink leather shoes (freed aspire were the preferred choice at the time!) but in the 3rd year they changed to satin full sole because of the floor being too sticky! Don’t know about other centres, but I would just go with what your dd normally wears for her own classes and then get what JA teachers want when they get a place!! As for leotards again just their normal class leotard, but definitely no tights as shoes are taken off to look at feet!
  17. What would we do without you Pictures!!!!! Xx
  18. Ahhh bless him! I remember dd’s first residential! It was WL Summer School when she was just 10 the week before! We said to her when she applied ‘if you get in we’ll buy you a phone for your birthday’ not even thinking that she would get in! She got a place and her first phone! Fortunately for me being a teacher, (and hubby said a treat for me haha!) I booked the week watching. It was so funny cos we said to dd ‘now you must ignore mummy while you’re there, and just pretend she’s another teacher watching’. Well true to her word she completely ignored me the whole week! One day she came and sat opposite me at lunch, but didn’t say a word but just smiled and then looked away haha! She would phone each evening, and sounds like she had a fab time. At the end of the week we found her crying after the performance, she’d had such a fabulous time, didn’t want it to end but had missed me! It was so hard for her me being there but it really did prove to us that this was what she wanted to do! So it just shows that kids really will put up with anything if it’s what they really want to do! The following year she did 2 Summer schools!! I still watch at summer schools (when allowed, not all do!) even now, but she doesn’t ignore me anymore!
  19. Sorry to say, whilst dd enjoyed YBSS when she went (3 times in total, 2 with scholarships!) she has preferred other summer schools as not enough classes, class sizes too big and not a lot of corrections either! Don’t know what the class sizes or teachers will be like now that it has all changed. We stopped going 2 years ago!
