  1. Vadim never danced Manon with Klimentova. I think they might have done the bedroom pas de deux in a gala once (the odd photo does exist), which might be where your friend was getting confused. The photos on the website are of Vogel.
  2. He has only ever danced in Manon with Sarah Lamb (thus far) - but yes, he was fantastic.
  3. I think @Bridiem might have meant when he joined the RB later? He wasn’t offered one on graduation.
  4. Such a troubled but brave soul. Tragic. RIP Sinead.
  5. I think @Suffolkgal might have been referring to Marianela and Will rather than Vadim and Fumi (that’s who I think you are referring to)? But, having said that, I’d love to see Vadim and Fumi in Manon. They are of course dancing R&J together in a few days time in Osaka but I doubt anyone on this forum will be there to review them, sadly.
  6. To say nothing of the fact that there is precious little of Laura on film and that would have been a wonderful memento to end on.
  7. Hear, hear. I did see it and am desperate to see it again - once wasn’t enough!
  8. I saw this when he posted it, and the back story combined with the words, and that melancholy ending, left me really choked up.
  9. It was a wonderful evening, I think everyone could have listened to him all night! Humble, honest, funny and the thank you speech at the end was just so lovely! Great to see you there too @jmhopton.
  10. Great story! But he must have fallen on harder times or something more recently as I saw him a few years ago in the Bow St Pizza Express! But he didn’t sit on anyone’s lap on that occasion…..😂
  11. Whoops. sorry - your post wasn’t showing when I looked - I’m travelling and drifting in and out of reception areas so that might explain it!
  12. Did she dance it with Bonelli? I saw her with Vadim a couple of times but I didn’t know she had also danced it with Bonelli.
  13. There now seem to be at least a few non-members places available for the London Ballet Circle interview and book signing event on 13th July, according to their website:- https://www.tlbc.org.uk/events/vadim-muntagirov-book-event
  14. I’d be willing to bet some of the results would be completely different if the public were allowed a say!
  15. I’m not sure Danceworks intend this as a ‘public’ event - I think it’s aimed at their students, specifically the ones in the class he is doing immediately before. I don’t think they’ll be expecting people to just turn up!
  16. A friend of mine ordered an item on Amazon recently and the online tracking covered the journey on the day of the delivery and eventually gave an estimate that it would arrive in the next hour. It didn’t. The next thing was an update stating the item was ‘lost.’ How on earth could it have been ‘lost’ when it was actually out for delivery?? He too had to wait to claim his full refund.
  17. Ah, thanks - that’s what I did - I’ll make a mental note for next time!
  18. Aargh - mods, please can you ‘normalise’ the font? Not sure why it keeps doing that!
  19. I thought I would give my impressions for anyone who is interested, or who might be dithering over whether to buy - I highly recommend it! It’s a very easy read - and I mean that in the most complimentary sense. It’s engaging from the start and once started, I wanted to keep reading. Vadim’s personality and thoughts, his modesty and complete honesty come through very strongly, and it feels like him speaking. The Foreword explains how the book came about and there is a very touching dedication to his father along with an account of his Dad’s importance and status in Russian ballet - a very distinguished gentleman! There is a detailed account of his very happy childhood, with some delightful photos of Vadim as a baby and a child. He describes himself at one point as a “naughty child” (Vadim, naughty??), but in reality he just sounds like he was a typically mischievous boy! Accounts of life in Chelyabinsk, but more so, holidays at the family dacha (which his Instagram followers will be familiar with following his visit back there in 2021) with his extended family set the scene for the rest of the book. It’s interesting to hear later on that two ballets in which his performances have been particularly lauded (“Winter Dreams” and “Month in the Country”) really resonated with him because they took him right back ‘home’ to life in the dacha. This idyllic childhood contrasts sharply with the harsh regime when he went to Perm. Some of this makes very sad reading - my heart was breaking in parts, not just for Vadim but for all the children there who experienced this. Once he gets to London, his account of life at the RBS and his subsequent professional career makes absorbing reading, with plenty of insights into roles, partnering and his own performances (he’s very hard on himself!). An account of some nasty online harrassment for which he was on the receiving end makes sobering reading, but it really highlights how little protection there currently is from these things, either from the social media organisations, the police, or the law. Very unsettling. General things I liked about the book - I liked that the photos are all interspersed in the text where they are relevant. I find books where all the photos are grouped in the middle very annoying when a reference is made to one of them and you have to go hunting for it! There are QR codes scattered throughout the book that link to his relevant Instagram posts. I think this is a great idea, although those without the facility to scan the codes might not be so keen - but they can all be seen anyway on Vadim’s Instagram account! Overall, the book is a fascinating read and a real insight into one of the world’s top dancers who also happens to be a delightful person.
  20. My copy arrived this morning - haven’t had time to do more than just dip into it as yet but it looks as though it’s going to be really interesting! And I have the long weekend to read it.
  21. How awful 😢. I don’t understand why they would need the eggs.
