    Auditions

There's also Elmhurst associates and Midland ballet theatre local to Birmingham, but you would need to google them and find out when they audition. Good luck in your search

Have you tried Graham Fletcher ballet associates in Leicester? Auditions are usually in September and the classes are once a month. There is also Annette Nicholson school of dance in Birmingham, she does weekly classes, associate style Sunday classes etc if that's any use to you
  9. I think that yes it would be a lot of pressure and stress for the DC but I also think that most of these kids are not just your average 11 year olds, they have chose this path, they (mostly) have a clear idea of how they would ideally like their lives to pan out and they are made very aware of what is involved in accepting a place, so I think that as a whole they are going into it with their eyes open and so yes maybe stressful but also a source of drive and determination for a lot of them perhaps? Anyway many congratulations to the yeses, I can't imagine the joy your DC must be feeling right now and I'm so sorry for all the no's, but please remember that is is just a not now, keep trying and never give up on your dreams. For my DC the no wasn't taken too hard when she made finals a couple of years ago as it turns out she didn't like WL, to our (and her own) amazement she came away from finals with a feeling that it wasn't the right place for her, yes she had enjoyed her day and thought the place was beautiful but something just didn't feel right for her....so maybe not everyone would have to say yes if offered a place, it would have caused us quite a dilemma if my dd had got offered a place and I'm really not sure what we would have done!!
  10. Lovely news and huge congratulations to your DS!!
  11. What lovely news for you both, many congratulations to your son and good luck for the exciting and emotional times that lay ahead!!

  13. Are all the classes vertically streamed in this way?
  14. Oh noooo!!! I hope you manage to sort it, just typical hey!! ????

    MDS Funding

Another thing I have never got my head around is the fact that they don't take maintenance payments for children living with other parent into consideration, so if you you have a DC, plus child at home plus child from previous relationship whom you pay maintenance for, the only deduction from your income is £2000!! Yet the cost of a child at home is going to exceed this amount and maintenance payments can add up to quite a lot of money depending on your income and agreed arrangement with your ex, I think it's disgusting that they don't take this into consideration!! It could potentially put some parents at a real financial disadvantage and leave them really struggling
  17. Lovely news and absolutely worth bragging about!! Huge congratulations to your son
  18. I've always felt there has been a lack of advice and clear guidance with my dd, and my lack of knowledge has meant we have felt very alone and unguided on our roller coaster ride!! Thank heavens for this forum and being able to ask questions is all I can say
  19. I have to disagree with you here because I don't think anyone can just "ignore" the eligibility criteria, and I would imagine if you did apply early you would be told that she was too young and would have to wait until she reached the correct age. I think this sort of thing is very rare and the invitation has only been extended to this child because if she is already a JA then the staff will know her very well, know her abilities, her maturity levels and her commitment as well as her weaknesses, meaning they can make an informed decision on whether to allow her to audition with her class, all be it a year early. Where as someone unknown to RBS just sending in an application a year early is the Unknown, and if they were to accept early admissions they would have to lower the age for everyone which isn't a realistic option, this is clearly a one off (or rare occurrence at least) And yes maybe JA's do have an advantage as in being known by the staff but so what, they have worked incredibly hard to gain that place and attend their classes and as someone else pointed out they are also at a disadvantage too as staff will know their weaknesses!! It is a shame that there are not more centres for JA's to allow more children the opportunity to join but such is life, they can't accommodate for everyone after all!!
  20. Yes indeed for those of you auditioning or waiting to audition in the future, don't worry about what other dc are doing or what level they are at etc Each child is an individual and should be treated as such, and just remember there are many roads which lead to Rome
  21. Wow that's amazing news, I've never hear of anyone skipping up a year!! Wonder how that would work with her missing a whole year of education though, didn't even realise that was possible!! Good luck to her I say, she must be an incredibly talented little lady!!
  22. I too thought bursaries were only 50%, or at least that's what they said last year!! Wow they must really like her, but I don't understand why they would offer a bursary before MDS audition has even took place??
