  1. They only contact if you are successful. You'll get a pack through the post.
  2. My daughter was picked up off the waiting list the first time she did EYB but didn't get picked up the 2nd. I guess it just depends how many of the original ones sign up. Time will tell
  3. For sale - girl's Wear Moi unitard with royal blue velour strappy top and black bottoms with stirrups. Childrens size 1 which I believe is approx 7-8 yrs. In excellent, clean, worn condition. Happy to provide a photo if required. £10 + p&p.
  4. When my daughter auditioned last Nov the only communication I had from them was an email just a few days beforehand, informing me which group audition group my daughter was in, and instructions about want to wear, where to go and what time to turn up etc.
  5. Thank you for your replies. I have been researching dance schools in the area and have come up with a few names, but I really like being able to hear about people's experiences first hand. The best dance school my daughter has been to came on friend's recommendation and she was so happy there with so many opportunities offered to her. It broke her heart when we had to move and I've felt guilty ever since especially as she just isn't happy at her current school.
  6. My nearly 13 yr old daughter has been dancing since she was 2 1/2 and lives for it. She has been to a number of dance schools over the years as we have to move around with my hubby's job but we are beginning to feel she is stuck in a rut at her current school and don't know which direction to go in. She currently attends 1x grade 6 and IF (RAD) class a week and attends modern and tap classes too and also a monthly associate scheme. She has been lucky enough to dance with the EYB but misses attending a dance school offering her the opportunity to be part of squad. Her current school is very traditional and very much a case of your face fitting but doesn't enter competitions or festivals. I really feel she is being held back but we need to find the right school for her. Does anyone have any recommendations in the Oxfordshire/ Berkshire/ Bucks area?
  7. Unfortunately it was a 'no' for my daughter this time. She's been quite philosophical about it all though as it was her first time auditioning for CBA. She received a fairly standard letter, but is quite interested in finding out where she could improve should she decide to try again in May. Is this going to be possible if I send them an email?
  8. Well we have success. I ordered a multiway bra in a 32A from Tesco for the vast sum of £4 which arrived today. Whilst it's not a absolute perfect fit, my daughter is happy and comfortable wearing it.
  9. Thank you everyone. Maybe a body might be something to add to her Christmas list.
  10. I've ordered one from Tescos which is 32A so will see if fits when it arrives. It doesn't help that I work full time and won't actually have time to get to the shops before the weekend which is when she needs it for. Definitely not enough hours in the day
  11. She doesn't need one for all her leotards - however, she currently has a very pale tutu with a leotard which is quite see through, so like most 12/13 year olds she is very self-conscious when wearing it (you can see a lot through it). She measures up as 28.5A but wears a very soft 30A bra which she finds very comfortable. I need to try to find her one before the weekend so will keep looking.
  12. Bless her she only measures up as a 30A cup so I'm struggling to find one small enough for her.
  13. My small-busted daughter needs a strapless/multiway bra to wear under her leotard/tutus but I'm having trouble finding one small enough that isn't going to cost me the earth! Any ideas?
  14. My daughter was in group 2 - there were 25 in her group.
  15. Having read your post, I could honestly have said you were writing about my daughter (although in slightly different terms). I fear she may have hit a wall with her dancing. She is also 12 and started the grade 6 syllabus in Sept. She has been dancing since the age of 2 and, until last week ballet and dancing had been her life for the last 10 years. All she has wanted to do as long as I can remember is to train to be a ballet teacher and open her own dance school. Now it seems she wants to give it all up overnight! I'm hoping that it is just a 'phase' that is going to pass. I fear that if she gave everything up she may live to regret it in the future.
  16. When my daughter danced with EYB last year they had a casting session after school late afternoon/evening before the summer holidays. They then had rehearsals for 4 days in the holidays 2-8 (ish) and then Sat & Sun afternoon rehearsals for 2 weeks, then Fri, Sat & Sun the week before and then Thurs eve, Fri and Sat of performance days. It was quite intense but because the bulk of rehearsals were during the hoiday it was manageable.
  17. I bought my daughter a turning board for Christmas. She loves it!
  18. Thank you ladies. Will have a look at your suggestions.
  19. I'm looking for seamless underwear for my 12 daughter to wear under her leotard. Any recommendations for the best place that I might find it?
  20. I can't believe they've chosen Swan Lake for Aylesbury when they did it in Oxford last year. My daughter was hoping she may have been able to try something different if she was lucky enough to be chosen again.
  21. Having waited so long, and paid so much for my daughter's first pair, I actually felt quite nauseous watching various You Tube clips showing how the professionals 'prepare' their shoes for a performance! I too had the blisters once I finished darning them but feel like I have been through another rite of passage. Suede tips are also frowned upon by my daughter's teacher so it was never an option for her.
  22. My 12 year old daughter has just started on pointe too. I had help from lots of lovely ladies on here when it came to darning them! She too has Bloch Serenade shoes as these were the ones her dance teacher fitted for her. So far, so good after the first few weeks - she goes out with a real skip in her step when she is going to do her pointe class. I hope your daughter enjoys it too.
  23. Oh well - it seems we just missed the closing date for CBA auditions (even though there didn't seem to be one advertised and her application must have arrived just as they closed the date). Guess she'll have to wait until Nov now.
  24. My 11 year old daughter was in Swan Lake last year and as mentioned before everyone seemed to have an equal time on stage irrespective of their part. She absolutely loved the whole experience and is desperate to do it again. I just need time to save some more pennies though!
