  1. Hello all, I know this was months ago but I just wanted to thank you for advice and let people know I have just signed little DS up for a taster session at Kickstart at Tring Park. Hopefully he'll love it and they'll like him! Also off to see Sergei Polunin in December; little DS and older DD's favourite! All very exciting.
  2. No, he is very young and inexperienced! Not sure if he'll want to audition again, a year is a long time at this age isn't it?! Hopefully he'll stick with his ballet although he doesn't like being the only boy in his class. Good luck everyone else though! Fingers crossed!
  3. Ours came at 10.20 this morning- a no ? Dreading telling little DS. Good luck all waiting!
  4. Do you reckon Totnes tomorrow, London next week?
  5. So excited about all the yeses and huge commiserations for the no- not yets. We are expecting the latter from London but don't think we'll hear until next week at the earliest- probably on little DS's birthday I expect!! Congratulations all and onwards and upwards too!
  6. I think it's proportions and potential rather than ability at this stage but do any of us have any idea really?! What do others think?
  7. Am loving this thread, and the photo RBS posted! Are the blue T-shirts the Primary Steps children? Little DS is getting excited about dancing with other boys in London. Hadn't imagined there'd be so many! Wow! RBS will be spoilt for choice (as they always are with girls)!
  8. It's all about fun! My DD auditioned when she was still 7 (August birthday) and had never done anything like that before. She loved the studios, the piano, making friends with the other girls and the class itself. She came out beaming saying it was the best class ever done even though she'd bumped into another girl when skipping around and gone in the wrong direction twice! I was so relieved she'd had such fun and whisked her off for a hot chocolate and some rare 1:1 time (very rare as the oldest child of 4). So my advice would be it's a special day out! Have a ball. Oh and just for the record yes she did get a place much to our surprise, and had a wonderful 3 years full of fun, friends and opportunities. I have my 7 year old DS auditioning for JAs this year and am hoping he too will just have a fun, exciting day out with no pressure from us. Not fussed if he gets in or not, just like all those years ago with DD. What will be, will be.
  9. Fabulous news Happymum! To have your DD and DS together is something very special!
  10. My mistake then, sorry! There used to be one when my DD was a JA but it was a while ago now. Thanks for replying though.
  11. Good luck Happymum! Hope he really enjoys his special day!
  12. Hello all! Does anyone know the time of this class? I'm currently booking little DS onto drumming lessons and don't want to get caught out by the give a term's notice fine malarkey if by some huge miracle he was successful at his JA audition!! Thanks.
  13. Congratulations to those wonderful yeses and commiserations to all the nos. My DD never made it to the finals in the year she tried so you should all be super proud anyway! They will find their way down a different path if it's meant to be. Fingers crossed for those waiting. That is always the worst bit!
  14. Julie Rose based in Shiplake, South Oxfordshire is amazing and has a long list of successful entrants to vocational school at 11 and 16+. She is also the loveliest, kindest person. All my children adore her.
  15. Hi Princessballerina, not sure if my DS will audition this year, he is very immature and found the class long although he loved it. Will your DD audition? Did she enjoy it? I thought some of the other children looked super; who knows how they choose! And Bluebird22, my DS was definitely hoping for more boys! He enjoyed dancing with one of the other boys when they were paired together, I don't know if that was your student or the other boy but both looked very strong and confident.
  16. Yes in the orange group first thing in the morning; 3 boys and 20+ girls.
  17. We were at the Birmingham one too. A super experience although my DS found two hours exhausting. The teachers were very kind to him; he loved it. Some of the other children were beautiful to watch. Such a great day!
  18. I have read this thread with interest. My DS is off to a JA experience day on Friday and if he enjoys it we'll apply for him to audition in May. He is a very immature boy with no style or real technique but he has an innate musicality and a definite joy of dance. After a DD who did three years as a JA but who is and has always been far more mature and precise in her movements it'll be fascinating to see how he fares.
  19. Oh that is such a lovely story! Well done mini PV!
  20. Today's preliminary auditions were the same for boys and girls, very similar to how they were 2 years ago when my DD auditioned (if not exactly the same). I think that the finals might be different as boys and girls have separate auditions, maybe they are looking for/checking different things in boys? But maybe not, I have no idea, sorry Thank you Happy Mum. I have no idea what they are looking for with boys or girls!
  21. Super! Hope she has a fab time!
  22. tropicmama, were there any places on the Christmas Day of Dance? My DS is going and is teeny so don't worry about that! He went on the Boys Day of Dance last summer and not only was he the smallest but also the least experienced and couldn't even do half the stuff! The teachers couldn't have been more helpful and kind to him. He had a super time!
  23. My DD did the LCB2 touring company last year and absolutely loved it. Parents did get to watch a special performance at the rehearsal venue but not during the tour itself. Congratulations to all yeses and commiserations to all nos. it's very selective. DD didn't even get a callback this year!
