  1. Irishballetmum have you thought of the Northern Ireland Summer Ballet School. It's organised by the R.A.D. teachers in N Ireland and held in August every year. They have guest teachers from the Royal Ballet School and Central. For the last 4-5 years Kenny Burke ( Who was the director of The Royal Scottish Ballet for a number of years ) Giving master classes through out the week. With a very talented line up of painists they cover classical ballet, repertoire, character, contempory, creative dance and group performance with a show on the last day that is always fabulous. My DD who has attended a number of summer schools and is 14 and at voc. school always really enjoys it. Places are limited and do fill up very quickly. .
  2. Thanks cotes du rhone ! . Now we have to make a decision on The Joffery School in Florance. Or Teatro dell'Opera in Rome. Has any ones DC. attended any of these ?.
  3. Just wondered what you experienced teacher's and parents thought about getting some European experience at a summer school next year. Would there be any benefit ?. DD who is 14 and at voc. school would like to try one. I was thinking of mixing it in with a holiday. Possibly Italy. Thoughts and advice would be greatfully received.
  4. I think you have to take these shows as light hearted entertainment. Having said that, with reports of both Maddie and Chloe earning over a million dollers and world wide fame. ...... I hope all the young dancers from Liverpool enjoy equal success.
  5. Central Ballet School are running a dance day in Glasgow on the 25th of October 2014 and one in London on the 23rd of November 2014. It's an opportunity for young dancers from 12 - 16 years old to learn more about life in full time dance training.
  6. Thanks Pas de Quatre and Harwel. I will keep checking there website.
  7. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the Dance Days at Central School of Ballet. DD 13 years old soon to be 14 is keen to attend. So just wondering if any of you might know when and were the next one will be held. Thanks in anticipation.
  8. Picturesinthefirelight, Do let us know what you think of the show on Thursday. Last year's show was amazingly awsome and beautiful. I will be there for the final show on Saturday. DD is thrilled to be dancing with an older boy this year for the first time. Can't wait to see that. It was only a couple of years ago she hated all boys. Ha Ha.
  9. I am so pleased that you are able to continue with your dancing CharlieChuck. Do let us no how your getting on from time to time. I have visted APPA NI and was very impressed. The dance studio is amazing. One of the best i have ever seen and the standard of teaching under the guidandce of Sarah Durrant will undoubedly be of a very high standard. Good luck.
  10. Welcome to the forum CharlieChuck. Have you tried APPA NI. Academy Of Professional Physical Arts. 5 REGENT Rd, Belfast. Phone number 02895607474 I know they run adult ballet classes. One of the ballet teachers used to be the head of dance at the prestigious Hammond Ballet School in Chester. England. So the standard of teaching in APPA NI. Should be quite high. Good luck with were ever you choose to dance.
  11. I was under the opinion that your MDS followed you into 6th form at any of the 4 vocational schools.
  12. How about the Secret Garden. The young girl finds a key to open a door to a garden of colour, wonderment and excitment.
  13. This is my first post and i was hoping for some help. My DD is currently year 8 at a vocational school in England. Until last year she had followed the graded exam path and had aways been awarded a distinction. Last year ( year 7 ) she didn't have any exams and today she was informed she is on the maybe list to complete her intermediate foundation exam. How ever some of her year group had already completed this before attending vocational school. Her friends at her old ballet school have all started there intermediate foundation course. So my question is.... Is my DD falling behind. Oh and can i just say although i havn't posted before i have followed this wonderfull forum for the last couple of years and some of the advice has been invaluable. So thank you everyone.
