  1. Ive just had really brilliant news! My current dance teacher has managed to fit me in on a Thursday straight after my ballet class in Leeds which is an hour away and says I can have private pointe lessons with her then! I'm going to be shattered but im so excited and grateful to my teacher! Thanks for all your advice guys! X
  2. I put "I see your pointe!!!!" see I'm obsessed haha
  3. I do 4 dance classes a week 3 which are ballet Some at grade four some more grade 5 level I think plus a prepointe class plus a workout most nights and 100 crunches and 100 sit ups EVERY night so I'm doing loads it's just the show schedule is going to mean I can't actually get to my RAD class this term to be put up - but the show will be a great opportunity so I will focus on enjoying that if I have to wait! Thanks for the advice everyone
  4. I can't go up at my other school as this class is to support the dancing at your other school and they don't put you up there. I see your pointe I just feel I'm ready.
  5. You are all right about my teacher - she thinks I'm ready I think it's more she's worried if I won't be attending the syllabus classes which is fair enough :-)
  6. I do believe I'm ready for it and I think it's more being promised October half term and then it being pushed back that I find upsetting. Thirteen year old ballet dancer syndrome I think! Thanks for your replies and the llink alison. I'm hoping this teacher (who's taught me since I was four and knows I'm ready I think) will be able to do privates and if not I better just hang in there argh! X
  7. I have been dying to go en pointe since I started ballet when I was four (im now thirteen.) In my opinion my feet have been strong enough for at least a year now but the school that will be putting me up are really reluctant to put anyone up until they have been ready for a long time. My grade 4 exam which I took in June I was supposed to be taking a long while before that but due to a mistake from the school this was put back. I will be grade five in sept and am supposed to be being tested for pointe before oct half term. Here is my problem: I'm in a musical theatre production from Just after the oct half term until January and the rehearsals happen to fall on the only class I do at this school per week. I will still be doing more ballet than anyone else in the class as I attend other classes in the week but my teacher seems very reluctant to put me up until Easter. I'm quite annoyed as everyone at my other classes will be en point and there is an additional class afterwards which I won't be able to attend now. I've asked for privates from one of the teachers who may be able to do them and she's is going to let me know. Am I being unreasonable and should I just have waited until Easter? It just seems like everything's been put on hold and I know that I'm stronger than a lot of people I know that have been put up! Thank you! X
  8. My free movement may have been over classical as I do know that's one area I have to work at but still not sure what other marks lost will be for - ah well it wont stop me dancing which is all that matters!!
  9. I haven't had my report yet but looking forward to reading it so I can understand where I lost the marks. I'm surprised as I'm very self critical and usually quite accurate about predicting where Ive lost marks so quite confused.
  10. I've just got my exam result back for rad grade 4 ballet and I'm really disappointed. I received 66 merit which is my lowest score ever having received distinctions since grade 1. This is primarily because I work really really hard before exams. I have improved loads since my last exam and had taken lots of extra exam classes. I thought the exam had gone really well and that I'd made no mistakes. Strangely the highest mark of the class ( 20 dancers ) was 69! A lot of us were on track for at least 75 ( distinction ) and I'm really annoyed and confused about why my mark ( and everyone else's ) was so much lower than what had been expected. Has anyone else had this sort of thing happen to them / their dc? X
  11. Wow! Thanks for all the replies on this I agree with everyone really here - there is a point where you are giving everything and you have no more to give physically or emotionally. When you reach this point and get told you are not trying you begin to break and crumble inside.
  12. I agree with your DS w445403 it feels as if it's something I was always supposed to do and I've never thought of not dancing. It is a necessity just ballet I think it should be compulsorary too!
  13. Chocchip- yes this is exactly the same attitude my teacher has! It's as if I cant do anything right. I agree that those going into professional training would benefit from this as it shows them the ballet world but my class is an open class and I don't think this attitude is helpful for us as we are not looking for professional training. Pas de quartre - thanks for the link!
  14. I'm not flexible but I think you can work on flexibility without attending gym classes. I never have done and by now I'm do set in ballet posture any other style of dance would be very hard I think! X
