  1. I took my Dd to our family practice as even though she is vocational they like to still oversee her treatments; just because they like to follow her journey really anyway while there my GP advised us that even though she had the single vaccine last year she needed the multi vaccine and that all her peer's would also have had it, booked her in with the nurse for following day no questions asked. .. why is it different in different practices?
  2. Good luck to all the new starters for tmrw. Dd is going into her 2nd year and has been given new block as her dorm so looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you all. Also she has a few 1st year dance uniforms for sale if anyone wants spare. Let me know and I'll pack them. x
  3. Hi still available leotards £5 and unitards £15 for 6.1 like new ideal for second/spare. Tutugirl sorry only just seen this message as had no report to say you posted sorry

    GCSEs

Don't forget A levels start today also. Good luck to all sitting exams over the next few weeks, I've told my Dd not to be so hard on herself as no one goes into an exam to fail so what ever results she gets as long as she gave it her best I'm proud of her I could never have done vocational training alongside my exams and am in total ore of all these kids x
  5. Yes 2dancers each year of 6th form have a different colour uniform not sure of lower school and uniform is not covered by Dada and of hand I think the leotard was £38 and unitards £45. Have filed the invoice away as it makes me cry lol
  6. I rest my case that is why I love this forum so much. I've learned so much and gained so much insight into the dancer and the dance world from all your invaluable information. Message sent to Dd to throw the spray in the bin and shall be poking my pharmacist in the eye when I see him lol x
  7. Thank you everyone for the fab advice have past everything on to her, I've got her the spray ice stuff so she has it at hand all the time and odd I know but told her to but vick on the soles of her feet to clear her through, another Internet tip For the dance show she only did mainly the old dances she already knew and "marked " it whilst sat down in the back of the car on way home Friday as she couldn't attend rehearsals as she was in Tring or revising , I have to admit how impressed I was at the amount of choreography she memorised and mastered with a smile on stage, ive told her she must pace herself but i may aswell be asking her to stop breathing don't understand it myself if something hurts I don't do it but dancers see pain as part of the course i think and many a time she has hidden illness and pain from me so I don't stop her, she has fainted in her teachers arms when ill after fibbing to me when I said she didn't look right then it looks like your a "pushy" mum having them in class!!! I Just dont get it but I'm sure you've all been in my shoes plenty of times. Thanks again for all your support x
  8. Hi my Dd is in L6 Tring and over the last 2 weeks developed some mild pain in her shin. Last week she finally told her teacher who told her to not do jump sections and I've started her on vitamin d & calcium tablets after researching the Internet. Last night she did a show with her "at home" dance school and now in a lot of pain, have done the ice and rest and told her to book into physio tomorrow. Question is do anyone have any tips or "old wife's tale" methods that work or can help speed recovery and prevention - I know avoid hard floors but that is impossible in an old manor house ???? thank you for any advice or link to old topic x
  9. Hi I've popped a post onto items for sale if anyone would like to reduce a few of there costs for Tring vocational uniform, new uniform order forms are out already
  10. Hi I was wondering if anyone would be interested in purchasing my Dd vocational leotards and unitards? All size small and of course used but with lots of life in them and ideal as main uniform or rotation/spares. Can post for postal cost's after July 11th or your daughter can collect in school when they go back. Can send photos to show there all wearable ???? would say from non smoking pet free environment but I believe Tring has a cat ???? Thank you
  11. Good question following with interest. Can I ask also if you do the 3 years at Tring is this a level 6 or 7? My daughter wants to have her second career as a primary teacher so she needs to know the steps to convert also, her career adviser at home didn't know
  12. Thank you tutugirl & guesty will take you up on the offer. I did hear the kids had a Facebook page but was hoping more of a page that discussed things like logistics instead of who fancied who or teen stuff, even though I like to pretend I'm young at heart I don't have a clue what there all talking about half the time with all the new slang.. apparently I've been milf and peng and sure in not meant to say thank you when called this ????. And I must be terrible as Dd has £10 per month ???? and also uses this if caught short on toiletries.
  13. Guesty can I ask how/where you go for the list of renters? Also I've been wondering if there is a Tring support page anywhere as I do feel there's so much to learn and I'm sure most of the people that have had there children gone away for the first time feel a little excluded from my child's new exciting life, I know none of the parents really apart from to give a smile on the stairs and would love somewhere I could go even if it was to see who's arriving early and fancies a coffee. ???? i wasn't there for the getting to know you at the start of the year so only know 2 nyb mums from the year above ????
  14. Thank you for your reply spooky, i guess that is one more expense people need to take into consideration when choosing schools and budgeting 2 more years and I can get off this roller coaster lol x
  15. My heart goes out to your friend and i wish her a speedy recovery. At the choreography show at Tring last week Jacks mum did a presentation about the dance again foundation, they sound amazing and was telling us about the insight into treatments and how to get better for cheaper and that most time the nhs is the way to go. Most Dr's treat both private & nhs and they know which doors to knock so I would definitely be contacting them. Big hugs your a lovely friend in helping and supporting your classmate
  16. Hi just had this terms fees and there is an extrac £200 added on top of maintenance for accademic exam entry's, would anyone know if I can claim this back from a local authority? As I don't understand why all dd's were paid for when in "regular" school but not in vocational training? Also the maintenance fees will be going up to £3,710 per term and I was talking to one of the mums and she said she had asked and was told all host mums already gone when I asked before Christmas, would anyone know any new ones starting? Thanks
  17. I picked my Dd up this half term and am very pleased with how her body has changed already, I sent away a stick insect and a lady has come back with a bottom and the thigh gap gone. On her medical last week they said she is not to loose a single ounce of weight so was worried what was going to great me !! So I'm a little happier about the food at Tring now and her being so fussy
  18. I have degenerative disc disease so have 2 bulging disc's in my neck and a tip my physio gave me to take the strain out of my neck when doing sit ups is to find a spot on the ceiling in front of you and focus on this as you do the sit up. Not sure why or how it works but it does lol perhaps have a go and see if this works for you. Good luck
  19. Happy mothers day to you also. My Dd is in school as exact was last week!!! Don't understand why they didn't do it this week? My 1st year I didn't get my breakfast in bed or handmade gifts and card this year so was quite teary. So to all the dance mums out there I now know how you all feel and I send you a special dancers parent hug xxx
  20. Last year my dd was put on the reserve list for a Dada, we were needing a full one and didn't hold out much hope and when school started in September she was heartbroken. But on 20th October we got a telephone call from the school to say that due to all the shuffling and finalisation of others funding they were in the position to offer her a full Dada. She started the following Sunday. So don't give up hope as if it is meant to be it will.????
  21. Thequays great minds think alike. Tring has so many poorly students at the moment with the cold/flu virus and had me thinking about your daughter katymac x
  22. My Dd loves Silky's as she has darker skin so needs something that is "pinker" so she don't look grey, they are thinker and have the soft waist band, she wears the ladies large convertibles as even though she is a size 6 clothing she has long legs and this stops the gusset showing when she lifts her legs and less stretch and the foot hole is small and strong. I've also looked at the justballet pack of 5 as on the internet they look just like the silky, has anyone bought these as they work out more economical? x
  23. Hi Jane and others sorry for the long time getting back but few things have gone on this end plus pc is out of the arc made getting on difficult. Tring have been lovely and sympathetic but don't have any other help to offer and no list of charities I can contact, I have now been sent the leaflet on spreading the cost through the year with the terms invoice. The full maintenance for a person under 21k is £4550 per year given to the child over 3 terms, each term a invoice is sent to us for £3600. plus educational visits an books which has to be paid, the child is then given that terms Dada in the form of the cheque which you then cash and put towards the fee, there is a gap in the time between the fee's needing paying and the cheque being given and cleared but Tring has reassured me I wont be issued a late payment fee whilst waiting for the cheque to clear. We have already discussed Dd going to a hostmother from September, we would have looked into it for this year but as she started the school late this option was taken out of our hands but any information would be amazing if anyone has any please as would ideally want to start looking now ready for September. I'm not sure how they work out the Dada but I'm guessing all households under 20k per year are put into the same bracket so even though my household is under 10K I am in the same bracket as the people who have £19,500. income in there home? Please know I only commented so people know the full story of the finances your facing as I was very naïve and wish I knew proper figures when I went into audition season. I don't know if it would have made a difference as Tring had my Dd's heart from the moment she stepped foot there but I do know the little bit of money I had put aside for if she did get a 6th form place would have been different and I wouldn't now be playing catch-up and chasing pennies. x
  24. Thank you thequays that very sweet of you. I agree aileen that is why I was so shocked when the bill come as when Dd was an associate with the RBS a full bursary worked out about 95% of the fees and uniform plus travel costs when she was in London. I've spoken to some of the Mums that were able to keep their MDS into 6th form and their bill is just £750 per term but they also get the uniform and travel so it don't seem fare that there is such a jump with a Dada. Tulip Dd turned down offers to go elsewhere and the places like Central that do loans are ballet and she didn't want to continue down that path as she wants to be an all round dancer. She's had such a hard time with her dancing and her dream of going to Tring is what had kept her going through the years, she had been put on the waiting list twice before for funding and each time I saw the spark in her eyes dim and she become so withdrawn, and I never want to see her like that again if I can help it. A massive positive is ive lost so much weight I can fit in the clothes shes left behind see always a positive to every situation.
  25. our hidden costs are very scary as when I did my research at the beginning of the year by following posts I thought I had over costed everything but unfortunately I got it all wrong. when our first bill come from Tring I have to admit I went into a blind panic as I thought the £1.5 thousand per term discount I received for the maintenance was the balance I paid and what I had budgeted but instead we have to find over £2.1 thousand per term plus the trips, books and other expenditures that will be added to our next bill. my Dd is on the full Dada as our family income is under £10,000 per year and even though we have opened up a funding page we have had no luck I understand completely though as so many people are in the same boat as us and also living hand to mouth. I don't have anything I can cut back on or sell and even though I have another child and extensive family I can't see me enjoying Christmas this year and so far my daughter has 1 gift and my son 4 to open on xmas but the positive is we will all be together and the as for the shows and school visits we simply can't budget going to them as I cant afford the transport, and just before they broke up my Dd had a show but was also poorly and breaking her heart over the phone as she "just needed a hug" but I couldn't afford to go to see her, so pray she's never taken so poorly she has to come home in-between terms. When I started my twirling little girl at her first dance class I never knew the dream I was opening up in her heart and the heart ache it brings emotionally and financially. My biggest fear is my finances are once again going to put a stop to it all as its just started and I pray every night to a solution. So to all the parents starting on this road please be ready to hold on tight as its a terribly bumpy ride and enjoy your coffee and chats outside the dance studio as your going to miss them so much
