    Careful, I thought I had been buying tickets but they have disappeared from my upcoming events and had no email confirmation. Tickets have now re-appeared in my upcoming events and have just received confirmation email - WHAT IS GOING ON????

    Banner on the web site now saying purchases unavailable whilst they resolve a technical issue. Nice to see they test the system before opening the booking.

    Sorry AnneL but Alina played Cinderella; Maria played Clementine and the Prince was played by Isaac Hernandez; Cirio played Benjamin - his friend.

    I was their on opening night. Took a chance that Alina would be dancing and came up trumps. Huge production with a small army of dancers hired for the occasion ( nice to see they were named on the cast sheet ). Clever use of projections and lighting made the bare arena change from a palace to a forest with a seeming flick of a switch. Lots of running around for all of the cast, once or twice I noticed a member of the corps just getting to their mark before the music started. I was sitting in the Grand Tier so was able to look down on the patterns the dancers made which, for me, was a definite plus. The performance itself was excellent. I found some of the choreography a little strange, Alina served the porridge to her new family dancing on the top of the table they were sitting at; which was slowly spinning round, no idea why. The two sisters interacted well, Tamara took the role as the stepmother which she performed with great glee, I did notice some of her mannerisms were the same as the Duchess character in Alice. Alina and Isaac looked to really enjoy themselves although their pdd’s were a little bit lost on the huge arena spaces. Great show though, credit to the ENB for putting it on and hope it’s well attended.

    I thought it was in respect of the hatred between the Capulets and the Montague’s and the townspeople reflected that???

    So did I nogoat. I also share your opinion of Ms Osipova. That stillness on the bed gave me the shivers then the silent scream... my goodness!

    Yesterday was a first for me. I attended both performances so watching the "same" ballet on the same day ( SCS for both ) was a revelation. I put quotation marks around "same" because the interpretation of the leads, particularly Juliet, could not have been more different. To my untrained eyes both beautifully danced but a revelation in that the steps were the same but the emotion/interpretation totally different. Jasmine Nagdhi was very childlike to begin with and innocent/submissive in her relationships with her Romeo and her family whereas Natalia Osipova was very bolshie/aggressive in her relationships. I will leave the technical stuff to those who are far more qualified to interpret but for sheer impact Natalia has it in spades. I did feel a little sympathy for Mr Hallberg at times because he was responsible for this force of nature that is Natalia and he must have been very conscious that this girl is coming at you so you had better be ready. The balcony pdd in the first act and the whole of Act 3 was totally owned by Natalia's Juliet and it did leave a deep impression on me, a tour de force of emotion and power, the silent scream will live with me for a long time. Huge well done to all the performers, a large number did both shows, and to the orchestra as well, the horns hit the notes even if the brass was a bit Morcambe and Wise ish ( all the right notes etc ). Well done to JNC whose review was what I would like to have been able to write.

    I have found that SCS tickets benefit by the fact that intervals for ballets are quite long and with mixed bills are frequent, sometimes as long as the performances, so being closer to the exits than the seats mean that you can get to the seats outside the auditorium before anyone else.

    The Khan programme is 4 of 6. Been good so far as it determines why people of all nations and religions feel the need to express themselves in dance. Don’t worry if you have missed the earlier programmes they are all available in catch up but be advised that one of the episodes does contain male and female nudity which some may find offensive.

    I have been a Friend+ for a good few years now and stalls circle standing have long gone before I get a go, and we are before Friend. I think these are offered elsewhere, students maybe?

    Lets have a little shout out too for the corps and the harlots. They had a whale of a time whilst all the main business was going on. Lovely to watch. Wonderful having you back Frankie, well matched with Corrales. Matthew, Marci and James really put the top hat on it. Fabulous performance, Act 3 was just sublime. Going to lie down now.

    Thank you Sim for such a wonderful review that said what I thought but could not put into words, which you have. This performance goes in a very special place in my head which only has my first concert, Sir John Barbarolli and the Halle in Oldham which introduced me to music, William Walton at the proms, Margot and Rudi my first ballet, Alina every time I see her, Frankie and Yasmin of the new bunch. The RB is in a very good place.

    Well Nogoat, I know nothing about other companies performances of DQ but to say last nights performance as a crime and an act of vandalism is not one I agree with. Speaking simply the dancing was wonderful and that’s what matters, I respect what Marianela said about it.
