  1. As we are quite new to auditions etc, just wondered if anyone has any advice. Had a very disappointed daughter this morning after receiving a no fro London ja's. quite hard to take after short wait list last year, but we obviously knew how hard it is to get in. Thing is Amelie is determined to audition again next year but has also asked me if there are other things in our area she could audition for. We are in Essex, so quite close to London. I'm pleased that she wants to pick herself up and keep going, but have no idea about any other places apart from royal ballet. She did a guest roll with the Chelmsford ballet last year and really enjoyed it, but at 9 is not yet old enough to audition for a place there. Thanks for any advice you could give me, it's been a tough day, Hayley xx
  2. That should have read "isn't going to last" lol x
  3. Lol, thanks everyone. Just seen her looking at sparkly sandals on the next website and singing at the top of her voice. She is giggling with her sister so hopefully the disappointment is going to last. Best of luck to everyone, I really hope you get that special letter xxxx
  4. Oh well, it was a very disappointing no for Amelie. Not even a no, but we would like you to come back next year :-(. It was expected as she knew she didn't do her best, but hard to take after short wait list last year. One very upset little girl this morning. Just off to an outing with brownies which she was really looking forward to, I hope she still enjoys it good luck to everyone else today. This is tough xxxx
  5. Oh my goodness, getting a bit nervous now. She wants this so badly this year, much more so than last year, maybe that's why she feels it could have gone better. Want the letter to come, but don't want it to at the same time. I remember feeling physically sick as we opened it last year. :-)
  6. Any more letters out today? we are starting to get a bit nervous now lol. DD feels she could have done better this year so definitely expecting a no, but we can hope. xx
  7. Wishing this JA letter would turn up soon.

  8. My eldest dd (11) was diagnosed with severe asthma in January. She is on lots of strong medication, and it turns out her friends cats had triggered it. In the last 6 months we have called an ambulance 7 times and spent two weeks in hospital, but she has not stopped dancing, actually feels the exercise helps and as previous poster said, singing is great too, I think the breathing exercises strengthen the lungs and really seems to help. I know how worrying it is, but I really feel that the worst thing you can do is to stop the exercise (hospital actually told her to go home and dance when we were discharged, they said it would do her the world of good) xxx
  9. Ours was the last Saturday in June too (for London) think that was the 25th if I remember rightly. Not too long now hopefully, good luck everyone xx
  10. Forgot to ask, was your daughter in the picture with Victoria Beckham. Amelie thought is was her to the right in the pic? xx
  11. Hi Jackie, Its lovely to hear from you, I wondered how your daughter had got on this year. I tried to find you on here but was looking for your old name :-) I'm so glad she has enjoyed it, it must be fantastic. How are you coping with the journey each week? Amelie really enjoyed her audition again but isn't feeling at all confident this year. She said there were so many amazing dancers in her group alone, I think she has resigned herself to a no this time, its hard when she got SWL last year, a no might knock her confidence a bit. Year 6 already? it goes quickly doesn't it. My eldest daughter starts senior school this year and my youngest leaves the infants. Don't think i'm ready for either lol. Hayley xx
  12. Thank you, I thought the forum had closed, was so pleased to accidently find it the other day. I had some great advise last year re. my daughters eczema. Its nice to be back ;0) x
  13. Hello, just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I am new to this forum but did post last year on the old board and had some fantastic advice. My daughter (9) auditioned a week ago in London, and I remember the long wait from last year for the results. She did well last year and got a "short wait list" letter, but is not feeling very confident this time as she felt there were lots of very talented dancers in her class. Good luck to all the children waiting for news. Hayley x
