  1. It's emlin278's with the ds, eloise_please. :-))
  2. I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. ;-)
  3. £30,000 a year, goodness me. That's a year's wages for a Police Constable with long service!
  4. Typical rubbish timing! :-)
  5. Best of luck to everyone from me too. Sorry, can't help with the pointe shoes!
  6. It does sound like such a lovely competition. I wish dd's school entered children into the Janet Cram.
  7. I'm probably being a bit dense, but don't the schools have career advisers of any sort who could advise on the legalities of a contract? Or do the schools not get involved with auditions, contracts etc?
  8. Congratulations to your son! And welcome to the forum. :-)

Really sorry to hear that, Ja Sm. :-( x
  10. This is with the Director of the school, who knows my dd inside out now. They focus on all sorts of things; whatever needs work at the time.
  11. Nope! The poor teacher has to hire the studio which is quite pricey. Still, a lot cheaper than the per hour rates charged by garages, physios, consultants etc!
  12. No idea how much per lesson, except private lessons which cost £35 per hour.
  13. In my experience it's wise not to try to add up how much ballet costs per term. It's not good for the blood pressure!
  14. Commiserations and hugs for those with no letters, and well done to those yesses and waiting list places. Once you have your place you still have the stress of yearly appraisals, so just think what good practice all this is! :-)
  15. I love the fact that she has a bust! I really loved her motivational words in that video, too. I just don't find those very muscly quads attractive, but that's the beauty of personal taste. :-)
  16. Thanks Kiwimum, that's great to know. On the basis of that - and because the fabulous Tiffany has left Bloch - dd is definitely going to try to see Sophie at Freed next time she needs new shoes. She's never tried Freed pointes before so it will be an interesting exercise.
  17. So sorry to hear that Grumpybearz! :-( Just remember it's not a "never", it's just a "not this time". Our dancing children have to face so many tests and possible "no"s, but you'd be amazed at how resilient they are.
  18. Congratulations for the yesses! Such lovely news. Fingers crossed for your dd, dancingmuppet. :-)
  19. I was letting the coffee kick in before heading off to dd's Associate class Fiz! :-)
  20. Morning, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecchetti_method :-)
  21. As long as he doesn't wear a Spiderman outfit to class! :-)
  22. He's probably busy as his super-hero alter ego.... ;-)
  23. Thanks Nana Lily. :-) There is an annual report on Tring's charitable trust somewhere on the internet - it's from 2007 though. I think it said that they were increasing their "reserve" to £750,000.
