  1. yay! We have finished the audition for Elmhurst today. DD said most girls were wearing no tights and a blue leotard and they all danced wonderfully. She enjoyed the audition very much and can't wait for the letter! Fingers crossed!
  2. Where were the children indeed. My granddaughter who is 11 loved very much. The Friday night was as delightful as the night before and whenever I thought I could attend ballet 2 nights consecutives!!!. I did very much so. The music was not for a minute boring and the costumes beautiful. Well done and congratulations ENB. The choreography must be seen. Can't find more praise, maybe one more. Joan Ramoza delightful and pure, wish to see him again.
  3. We loved so much that going to see it again. Anyway yesterday we wanted to see Alina Cojucaru and she was fantastic and now we know why some of this forum members admire her so much. I could take my eyes off her with those fantastic pirouettes. The boy who played Ali (Junor Souza) was genial and in one of his high jump we nearly caught him and we were sitting in the circle. Today is Miss Rojo and can't wait.
  4. Dd just finish Swan Lake in Oxford with the EYB. She had a fantastic time, learned a lot made friends and saw how professional the dancers were at all times. Really inspiring and well worth the traveling saga we had to do to get to rehearsals.
  5. Thank you Meunier and the other members who posted this very interesting topic. It made me think Margot was not just naïve but maybe living in a world of fantasy. Would she make a ballet out of it? In the interviews with so many journalists coming out of her sleeves she gave a supreme performance.
  6. Dear Members, if anyone has a leotard size 3 aubergine I would be interested in buying one. Thanks a lot
  7. I wish I could have it, but I don't play the piano or have a place for it. Please don't send it to be destroyed. I will make inquiries among my folk.
  8. Often looked at that beautiful ballerina not knowing it was the great Pavlova. Thanks for letting us know. And is that part of the Abbey for public view?
  9. Hi have tickets for Saturday matinee. I am new to ballet, so what should I expect? Is Xander Parish English? Please give us some clues.
  10. I loved the Tempus, pity about stage/cameras not really suitable for the ballet and those awful big boxes at the front of stage.
  11. Thank you Amber 21. I hope to see you Dea as I am chaperone on Thursday and Friday.
  12. Another cygnet here for the EYB at Oxford. Dd is a very happy bird.
  13. I agree that touring companies should advertise more. ENB has good cheap tickets that I found out just by chance. My dd ballet school doesn't have any flyers ever. A family at the school asked me how does one book tickets to RB.!!!!!!!!!It can be daunting to go to the ballet for the first time but there are lots of people who are interested.
  14. Good luck lemmongirl. We will be going to Oxford for their production of Swan Lake. Casting is on July the first and dd wants so very much to be a swan.!!!!
  15. Read all your travels/troubles/worries. Iam really glad your son got a job and things are working for you and your son. You are to be congratulated as you are a wonderful mum. All the best for the future.
  16. Ballet should not have boundaries, still very welcome news.
  17. Congratulations to Lauretta. We saw her once dancing in Midsummer Nights Dream. She was very friendly when we met her at Stage Door. It is really encouraging that she did not go to RBS.
  18. Yes curious got the same e-mail and we asked to be considered for 2014. DD not too disappointed as she said she needed more time to get prepared. Are you applying again. Good luck for our girls>
  19. Hello everybody, just got an email from Elmhurst and unfortunately my dd hasn't been offered to join the audition Good luck for all those auditioning! By the way my dd applied for yr 7 xx We will apply again!
  20. Being a newcomer to ballet, I like Swan Lake and the other classicals, but for me I can't forget Mayerling ( and also Manon). I wonder if is because of MacMillan who choreographed or it is my Latin blood.
  21. My 11 eleven years watched Mayerling. I had prepared her a bit about the story but she was puzzled by the scene of the wedding night. However she enjoyed and the best time ever was to meet Thiago and Marienella at the Stage Door. They were marvellous and so friendly.
  22. My dd has the same problem at her local ballet school. Sometimes she is really upset and I constantly have to remind her that she is going to that school to learn ballet. But she is 11 and crazy about dancing, and it matters to her to be liked by her peers. Thinking about if changing schools will be better for her. She likes her teachers but she expects a lot from them and often they don't deliver.
