  1. A Happy New Year to you Sim, Janet, Ian, and all the moderators of this wonderful Forum! Your hard work in the past eight years is much appreciated.
  2. So sorry to hear this very sad news. John was a thoughtful and kind gentleman, and has contributed greatly to the establishment and running of this Forum. My condolences to John's family.
  3. Another fashion shoot. https://www.thefashionisto.com/editorial/sergei-polunin-2018-esquire-uk/
  4. Sergei here in a fashion shoot for this autumn. https://www.thefashionisto.com/balmain-fall-2018-mens-campaign/

  6. I just saw this fashion feature on Sergei Polunin. https://www.thefashionisto.com/sergei-polunin-2017-w-magazine-photo-shoot/
  7. Polunin is featured in the latest issue of Vogues Hommes Paris. http://www.thefashionisto.com/sergei-polunin-2016-editorial-vogue-hommes-paris/
  8. Buddy, thanks for your reports. I would have liked to watch Viktoria Tereshkina in Ballet Imperial on the opening night of the festival. I have however seen her dance the role a number of times over the years in St. P, London, and Paris. And who danced the Act 1 pas de trois in Swan Lake last night?
  9. Buddy, thanks for starting this thread on the Mariinsky Festival. I just read the press release on the Mariinsky site. http://www.mariinsky.ru/en/news1/pressa1/reliz_2012_03_07/
  10. I found the link. http://www.staatsballett-berlin.de/de_DE/press/detail/1471/18330
  11. Buddy, you no doubt remember Polina Semionova danced La Bayadere with Igor Zelensky in the Mariinsky Festival several years ago. Apparently, she is leaving the Berlin State Opera at the end of this season and is due to join the Mikhailovsky. I was also informed that for the second of the Bejart Ballet Lausanne's performances in the Mariinsky Festival, Julien Favreau will dance "Bolero".
  12. Buddy, I look forward to meeting you again in the Mariinsky Festival next month. I've now got information on the Bejart evening in the Mariinsky Festival. The ballets are as follows: Bolero (Choreography: M. Béjart, Music: Ravel) Ce que l'Amour me dit (Choreography M. Béjart, Music: Mahler) Cantate 51 (Choreography: M. Béjart, Music: J.S. Bach) La ou sont les oiseaux (Choreography: Gil Roman, Music: original composition by Citypercussion)
  13. Yes, congratulations to Obraztsova! The programme for this year's Mariinsky Festival (22 March - 1 April) is now available on the Mariinsky website. http://www.mariinsky.ru/en/playbill/festivale/fest_2011_2012/ballet_fest_229/ I am rather disappointed that the earlier announced company premiere of Balanchine's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" hasn't materialised in the end. The major premiere is now an evening of Bejart ballets.
  14. Joan, as I said before, there are no UK tours this summer by the Mariinsky or Bolshoi.
  15. So there is nobody from the Bolshoi then. Andrei Merkuriev was meant to come too, but can't due to visa probems.
  16. Not as dramatic as Polunin's departure from the Royal Ballet this week. But I just noticed from the Mariinsky website that two stars have disappeared from the list - principal Denis Matvienko, and first soloist Evgenia Obraztsova. http://www.mariinsky.ru/en/company/ballet/troupe/ There have been rumours in the last month that Obraztsova is going to join the Bolshoi, where she has been dancing more. As for Matvienko, there was a report earlier that he's been appointed as the director of the Kiev Ballet.
  17. From what I have heard last week, unfortunately the Mariinsky's planned one-week season at London Coliseum in April hasn't materialised in the end.
