  5. Hi Pointytoes22 my daughter is 14 and studying both grade 5 and Intermediate - when she is attending auditions she feels that perhaps others are more advanced than her at the same age- she is playing catch up as we had a year away from the UK. Saying this it hasn't been to her detriment at auditions and her dance teacher feels that at 16 she will be at the required grade to audition for vocational schools. Looking at the bigger picture, grades are just a small part of what makes a ballerina. Enjoy your dancing and don't feel too pressured to be at the same RAD grade as everyone else just because you think you should be.
  6. Hi I'm wondering if anyone has experience of these classes and if one would be recommended over the other if you were lucky enough to have a choice

Hi All4dancers ,the notification states that all under the age of 16 must have an parent or appointed adult (maybe the parent of another dancer) with them. I shall be staying over on 23 and 24th if that helps anyone out

Accommodation in Tonbridge 22 - 26th August. Hi has anyone stayed in the school house before? what are your opinions? As my DD is 14 it is necessary for me to stay too and I'm wondering whether to stay at the school or at The Best Western Rose and Crown. If anyone needs for someone to be there for their son/daughter rather than staying yourself please pm me - happy to help

Back from Saturday class - another happy DD
  10. Like you Porthesia - we had no idea until the age of 13 that DD had 'potential' and it was suggested that she audition for MAs - we've started the journey and we're enjoying it - the end outcome - who knows - possibilities are endless - and they might not ultimately be in dance and if that is the case, as long as my DD is happy all past expense will have been worth it.
  11. Well done to your DD Aurora - it's so exciting when you open the envelope and it's a YES
  12. My DDs teacher waits until she feels the girls are strong enough - my DD was almost 13 but I have seen on this forum girls as young as 10 - I guess be led by your teacher. . .

Good luck to all at final recall today in London.
  15. We were at Elmhurst finals this year - 7 auditioning for year 10 intake and none for year 11. Though I know there were some candidates at the first audition. Perhaps give Elmhurst a call, they are always happy to help (in my experience )
  16. Personally I would find this too disruptive in the middle of a GCSE course - different exam boards/syllabus etc and on top of that new friends and environment if they've never lived away from home at all. I shall be encouraging my dd to concentrate on GCSEs with the view to apply at 6th form - especially as there is no certainty that year 11 pupils will be accepted into upper school.
  17. Brilliant SO happy for your daughter (and you!)
  18. Hi SPM Looking 4wrd to meeting u 2 & congratulations to your dd. we will be arriving at Waterloo.perhaps you will take a bus from paddington to Covent Garden? I am sure someone will be able to help with directions or contact the Associate dept at the RBS.
  19. Hi I'm wondering if any of you or your ds/dd will be travelling from the Southampton area via rail for RBS SA programme from September. We are hoping to find some travel companions
  20. Elmhurst,Tring and Hammond all do A levels tho subject choice is ltd except at Tring where there is a wider choice. At Central A levels can be studied at evenings/weekends in addition to dance courses. I have no knowledge of Rambert or Northern. Good luck with your choice.
  21. Sharing your page and wishing your dd all the luck in the world - all being well this will be us in a couple of years
  22. My 14 year old dd is going to Summer school this year - she would love to connect with others beforehand.
