  3. Hi everyone, Please can anyone help me? I live in scunthorpe and have two local dance festivals, one for a week at Easter, and one for a week at October half term. We cant do one in February half term,as its our local dance schools show,I was wondering if anyone has details of any others within reasonable distance, it seems such a shame that we spend so much on choreography and costumes to not get the use of them x Also if anyone can recommend any good costume providers, as the costumes are so much nicer now a days, I've used some sites on the Internet but always nice to hear of new/ fresh providers x Many thanks

  15. Hi just wondering if any one knows of any good classical ballet tutu makers? we live in North Lincolnshire and would be willing to Travel for the right tutu
  16. Sorry can't help with this one, but I know of 2 girls who have been offered Manchester Mids places but arent taking them as they are off away to full time schools, so hopefully some of the waiting list girls may hear soon also a couple of girls are leaving or taking other things up and then there is the children who may get assesed out so don't give up hope, it happened to us
  17. My daughter auditioned at age 9 and was put on the waiting list, within a few weeks she was offered a place and the rest is history, she did two years as a J.A then got to the White lodge final and is now a Mid associate, this proves it doesn't matter when your child is excepted my daughter got to the final over 12 children got in with a straight yes's, considering she was put on reserve was a nice boost for my daughter, as for the audition i took her in a nice fitted leotard and belt and socks and ballet shoes and hair in the two plaits across the head (like they wear for royal ballet)
  18. Well done everyone x will miss her so much dancing mom ;( x but dead proud and happy of her x
  19. Well done to you and your DD Karen it is lovely to have a yes xxx
  20. Wow celb that's fantastic, congratulations to your daughter, it's a hard industry and the childrens resilience and commitment helps them spring back, it must be so difficult to carry on at such a young age but they bounce back we were very lucky that a place came available as two girls in the class both got in White lodge and turned their places down x
  21. Last year my DD was at the White lodge final, it was a no but then was put on a waiting list for a Mids place, which was awful as we were told 'not to worry you'll get a Mids place, if you make the final you should get one' that wasn't the case as her and another girl (both JA's at leeds) both got put on reserve list, but not after were offered Mids places from the reserve list x works differently every year I think depending on how many go through and what other offers other dancers have :)guess I'm trying to say never give up it sometimes comes good, waiting isn't nice especially if they have nothing else lined up (we didn't) but it does happen good luck everyone xxxxx
  22. My DD is a Mid Assosciate at Manchester on Sunday afternoons, there are in the current class 6 year sevens,6 year eights, and 5 year nines, the 5 in year nine are either continuing or going to vocational schools or different programs so there are 5 places in the class come September when we move up (providing DD is offered a place again) unless some are assesed out or choose to leave, places for mids are like gold dust and I know were very lucky to of had a year as a mid as weve made some lovely friends along the way from our 3 years dancing with the Royal, but keep your fingers crossed as my daughter went to the White lodge final then was put on waiting list for the mids place, to receive a letter a month later offering her a place, such a roller coaster ride
  23. It's a hard one as she enjoys Royal Ballet but it's such a long way and it's moving to Saturday morning we would have to be out the house for about 8am and wouldn't get back till gone 3 we have other children aswell who would have to give up their activities also, she also really enjoys contemporary and is loving the idea of northern, were letting her make the decision she needs to be happy people have said 'are you crazy the royal is so prestigious etc' but it's not always about that, is it??? Please help me, she would do both but it would be too much
  24. Thankyou,I have followed everyones progress over the past few months with great interest and totally understand how hard upsetting and painful this ballet world is, and now i have found a topic which my daughters involved in, as she didn't audition for any vocational schools, just assosciate schemes
